I actually really liked Jimmy's story this season. I feel like they should just let his character go now. No spin off, no return to Yellowstone. His arc from kid/criminal to man/cowboy and engaged to married working a job he actually loves and his now good at feels completed to me.
but but, what would you say to a 4 6s show Jason?
Jimmy and Walker are both supposedly going to be on the 666 show.
I loved Jimmy’s character. He was my favorite character on the show.
His character was a waste of time just my two cents. I live near the 6666 ranch and Mo was seen at a local sandwich shop so I am guessing he will be making an appearance on the spin off for whatever reason
He goes to COWBOY COLLEGE ....
My favorite episode of Yellowstone was the one where:
1. Rip and the other cowboys ride horses around the corral
2. Beth gets pissed off and cusses someone out
3. Beth smokes and drinks a lot
4. Jamie tries to figure out who he is
5. Monica is sad and has a long face
6. The cowboys and their girlfriends hang out in the bunkhouse and drink beers
7. Jimmy tries to figure out who he wants to be
8. Rip gets pissed off at someone
9. Kevin Costner acts like Kevin Costner from about every other Kevin Costner movie
10. Beth hates Jamie

The most random thing in season 4 is Casey going out and laying in the middle of nowhere for a few days 🤣🤣🤣

You would be shocked how much This Shows films of reining and cutting horses has helped the horse market. Lots of rich people buying horses and keeping trainers in business.
Can't believe Ben didn't mention that John's furious anger that kicked Beth off the Yellowstone was solved by her simply saying she didn't want to go...super solid.

Glad you said what I was thinking. Finale fell apart horribly. The entire season 4 went nowhere.
I thought the finale was awful as well. I just thought it didn't leave you hanging and excited about it in the end like most shows do.
The show was interesting for the first three seasons because something new happened. First we got the classic "protect the ranch" stuff. Season two got into some different territory and worked pretty well. Season three began to explore what would happen when they got outmatched, and then season four dropped the ball completely.

I feel that season 1 was great and by the middle of season 2, it dropped the ball completely. You have to think that during 4 seasons there are almost 100 deaths around the ranch and no FBI no Police is involved. Big WTF there.
@@miguelrosalesllano In that regard you're absolutely right. The killing got away from Sheridan far sooner than the story. In things like Sicario he handled it far better, but in Yellowstone he didn't justify it well enough. Disregarding that however, I feel like the story itself just went out the window after season three.

Skyler (Breaking Bad) used to be my top disliked character in a TV series. Beth has taken that spot from her.

I hated skyler but my second time watching I realized she was completely justified ( well, not the helping Walt with the car wash/business etc) but Walt was a full on drug lord and she wanted to protect her children ( not that Walt would ever lay a finger on them but the people in the meth business)

This is my favorite show on TV and unfortunately I agree with just about everything Ben says here. The story lines and overall writing really fell apart this season. It honestly peaked with the first 15 minutes of episode 1 and went flat quickly from there. It was a lot of pointless scenes ofJimmy in Texas(most likely trying to create interest in that character because he'll most likely have a descent role in the new spinoff), a whole lot of the new kid, which was just filling scenes, and alot of cobbled up, random scenes that didn't really feel like they were part of anything bigger or going amywhere.
Maybe Taylor was distracted with 1883 and Mayor, but is disappointing this season went the way it did.
I actually enjoyed the first episode of 1883...lol. Looking forward to watching next episode.

I think that it fell apart because it was only supposed to be one season. They didn't come to it with the first 4-5 seasons planned out. Not they seem to be scrambling. And more worried about making spin offs.
Wait a minute, if people are finding this show "relatable" with characters they can "ifentify" with then thats Hollywood's representation mill they're falling for. So why rag on the industry for trashing superhero films and subverting expectations? Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

They never ever mention the brother who died first episode, you'd think as a family you would make reference to him somehow. Plot holes...also they did put a bomb on some (the blond developer, I think or the casino brothers) dudes airplane for it to never be used or go off, they had kayce go strap it on with some black ops feel, however nothing ever happened with that.
This show went from amazing to absolute trash so fast. The story of Casey doing that native ritual all episode was so freakin stupid.

I got to half way through S3 but I felt frustration with the storylines - just seem to get so random and didn't pull together. Beth - Kelly Dutton is a good actress I've watched on several UK dramas but she's so boxed in here as a crazy person. Shame its going down hill.

This is obviously a comical review from someone who has never experienced cow crap on his boots. I have to agree on the writing points to some degree however don t lose sight to the fact that this show is 10 times more entertaining than all the real TV bs and woke lineups offered by other networks.

No requirement to have the best plot line, BUT must have the character development to make the audience care about them enough to watch religiously. Another requirement is great acting. The cast is outstanding in every way. Real trials and tribulations occur even if they are outlandish. Compared to todays' junk on network TV, this is the best there is. Beautiful scenery, horses with fictional history doesn't hurt either. I agree with you Timothy!!
There's not a single character that I really love. I did watch religiously because it was entertaining to a degree. I agree with Ben. And I hate the characters of Beth and John. For it to be a fictional show I would get so mad at how much of a beach Beth is haha.

Yellowstone is so fun and entertaining. Just lets us live in a fantasty world for a while. I have binge watched it several times. My favorite character is Beth. Just love her!

Beth doesn’t like him because he took her to have an abortion and they said they sterilize the girl and he said okay. It didn’t make sense as I cannot believe that it is even true that sterilization had to follow an abortion

Ben nailed it! Yellowstone was riveting TV in Season 1&2. It started to fall apart for me in Season 3. Season 4 is a total clusterphuch.
Haven’t seen it, but that seems to be the way of most shows. Anything that doesn’t end in 5 seasons will be on complete trash
The writing is pish, but the show remains enjoyable for different reasons.

If you actually ride horses Jimmy’s story line is very intriguing.. the horses are real world superstars. If you do t know who metallic cat is you’ve never been seriously around horses. I moved from Iowa to Texas at 18 to work for a ranch so I loved Jimmy’s story

@@whatsinthebox9732 Jimmy’s storyline from meth head burn out to being a productive person is a an amazing redemption and matters because the nrha/ncha/nrcha allowed Yellowstone to film their events and use their horses for the tv show in return for a sponsorship.. metallic cat is a multi million dollar horse to haul him up to the will Rodgers in Fort Worth for a cameo is a big deal.
@@solarydays I can relate just fine, it doesn't mean the character themselves is good. He was nothing, a D level character, a joke to be made fun of. Then it looks like he could be leaving the show and because this season was so badly written and devoid of ideas we instead get dragged to Texas to watch him become a cowboy. Barely ANYONE who watches this show ever wanted to spend 20% of a season watching Jimmy become a cowboy.
I liked his story too but I don’t think I want more. I’d like a “happily ever after” for Jimmy.

I swear ben somehow gets 35 hrs in his day. Dominates lefties, father of 3, some of the most entertaining reviews, concert violinist, and many don't know this, but his wife is a doctor.
I got to live in West Yellowstone for a few months while doing some contract work at the park, and that town deserves its own show. The first night there I walked into a bar with freed food, an enormous poster of Johnny Cash giving the finger, and 4 or 5 people who drove there on their snowmobiles.
I F*cking love this show.
Ben was off about one point, the Dutton family Aren’t Billionaires, Jamie made it clear like 2 seasons ago that the ranch makes like 7is million a year, and they’ve been operating at a loss every year for over a decade. Jamie was employed by the ranch and Kaye was poor, so besides the family fortune of 7ish million that shrinks every year, the only money they have is Beth’s savings.
Not a great season, but still some of the best TV out. Was some gratuitous horse porn for those horse people out there. I enjoyed Jimmy's transformation personally, glad Texas made him a man. I think maybe Sheridan put this season out there to cater to a different type of audience, but it fell apart in the pulling together. Loving 1883.
The horse stuff was cool and made the show interesting but it does nothing to make the overall story move along. If they had of been competing against another ranch then maybe it would make sense.
When the season finale ended, I rewinded back and double checked to see if I accidentally skipped half the show by accident. I was dumbfounded and kept thinking that was it?!?
Ok so I'm a Mexican/American guy born and raised in PHX Az so obviously my knowledge of cowboy's and their lifestyle is slim however I'm completely drawn into this show let's just say I've grown a tremendous amount of respect for the cowboy community now look i know this is just a show and it's fictional but that's just it... it's a damn show ENTERTAINMENT!!!!! Now if you want someone to completely ruin a show you enjoy watching.... someone who speaks and thinks in complete literal terms finish listening to God old Ben and be miserable with him... 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤔🤔😉🤫🤫🤫😘😈

Jimmy is literally my favorite character in the show! His arc, growing from a loser criminal to a capable, redeemed cowboy, is my favorite arc in the entire show.
I called the show “The Godfather In Cowboy Hats” from the start. The Godfather (Costner) has a veteran son not involved in the family business at first who then moves onto the compound (ranch) with his wife of different ethnicity who is left out of the family loop. Beth is Costner’s confidant and consiglieri (Duvall), Rip is the Sonny who kills and beats up everyone who messes with “the family”, and Jaime is the dumbass weak “Fredo” of the happy brood. And Rip was taken off the streets as a kid, just like the kid on the show now and Robert Duvall was in The Godfather.
I loved the idea of her getting a cellphone in to a prison.
Ben’s a trip. I laughed so hard. For the record, I still live Yellowstone. 😜
Despite you’re critique, it’s still a way better show than the rest of the other woke trash on television. 1883 is the best show ever. Mayor of Kingstown is too far from any reality to make it too far.

I liked seeing a bit more out of Jimmy, too. But we really didn't get to see much of what he did at the Sixes that made him grow into a better cowboy, except not complaining that much about aches and pains and getting a hot girlfriend way out of his league.
The writing has taken a serious dive, yet I can’t stop watching… I guess it is just about the guns, cowboy hats, and the incredible Montana views. 😂😂😂

Jimmy's story line was the only one I liked. The rest were random and stupid, and the only reason Beth was even on the show was just to show off how mean she is. She's no longer that "tough woman" she's now just a biotch.
The problem with Jimmy is his dry behavior and then his story does nothing for the overall family story. It was cool with all the horses, handlers and riders.

After watching it I thought the season was underwhelming but I never saw it as bad as he thought it was lol really opens your eyes
Part Two: My two cents on: The Big Finale: Season 4, Episode 10 “Grass on the Streets and Weeds on the Rooftops” Kayce & The Wolf Vision Quest was .. I love owls myself, but in some cultures is seen as death…and others also wisdom. I loved seeing Lee and you could see the absolute joy in Kayce to see his brother again - and the hurt and pain full on view in feeling responsible for not being able to save Lee, as Lee became evil or at least blaming him in the vision. And then Kayce thinking he was being comforted by Monica and to open his eyes and see Avery instead.
Then Kayce saw the wolf again but it ran away and he went back in time to a moment he’s been trying to forget as a soldier, of the death of more people he cared about that he feels responsible for and the vision is relentless and won’t let him close his eyes to forget.
The beautiful Indian Maiden in white, yes, she is the spirit of the Wolf. As she walks away and Kayce follows, she turns into the Wolf - you don’t get to see the transformation but where he last saw the Maiden…now he see the Wolf.
I hope we will learn what he chose between. I hope the words to Monica will be explored. The end of us? I don’t think he meant him and Monica, as he’d have said, “The end of you and me.” If that were the case. I think it more the world around them, the Ranch, the Dutton's and Montana…could also have implications to the whole world - as John spoke to Mitch, “there’ll be nothing but grass in the streets and weeds on the rooftops”. (Shades for me of “The Postman” and “Waterworld” possible dystopian future’s for our world.)

I loved it seeing Jimmy back and my heart filled when he announced Emily as his fiancé. As I wished when Mia and Jimmy broke up that he’d meet a sweet n real woman and he did! Emily seems to have a solid footing in life and knows the value and true when your word is given to someone and respected Jimmy on his word and what he owes to John. I loved that John let Jimmy know he doesn’t owe John anything but to be true for himself. It’s great how Jimmy has manned up and become the cowboy everyone wants him to be. He was able to be focused in Texas, quiet from all the turmoil in Montana.
Watching Jimmy show his cowboy skills with the cattle and again in their fun “training” roping session. Colby and Ryan are so funny! I love Emily asking if they were a couple! LOL
Lloyd and Jimmy - they grew very close and Lloyd because a father figure to him and Lloyd is so proud of Jimmy. It was sad but heartwarming their goodbye. That’s why Lloyd walked away from Jimmy at the Trailer; they’d already said goodbye.
I am glad to hear Rip say he was proud of Jimmy and again said Jimmy is always welcome and have a home at the Yellowstone.
Very sad for Mia to see what her youth and unbending ways cost her. I’m glad Emily and Jimmy talked about it because they have a real and open relationship…nothing it hidden. I’m looking forward to watching 6666 when it’s out!

Season 1 and 2 are good
1883 might be even better than Yellowstone. I think it's made me tear up twice already in 4 episodes.
This season was a dumpster fire for sure. So bad my husband just stopped watching, and he loved this show getting me into it. Kinda like a bad car accident I couldn’t turn my eyes from.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment Ben, there is a lot of fluff and filler leading nowhere, the characters have become a little characteristic of trying to extend with nothing work extending and the show has lost its way. Sam Elliot I guess said it best when comparing it to Dallas. However I like Jimmy.

Well Ben got one thing wrong. John Dutton isn't a billionaire. Nowhere close in fact.
I never watched Yellowstone before. Then there's all this recent hype, and they had a marathon so I watched the first few episodes - what a mess of a storyline. I ended up bailing after a few episodes and planned to try to come back. But is sounds like I already figured out it's not worth my time. Thanks, Ben!
Duttons don't kill sheep they kill wolves. Great show, wish thier was more episodes in a season. My only gripe is Monica and Mia, Monica had no problem taking the perks of John Dutton, the job at the college which led to apartment and so on, asks John to take Tate camping and on and on. And the ranch is all evil let's go back to the reservation, where her brother killed Kaycee's brother and tried to kill Kaycee, where a meth lab blew up, people are kidnapping and worse women daily, Monica literally had a man get shot in the head ontop of her trying that exact thing, among other things. Mia right out told Jimmy " if you rodeo you can have me" after he broke his back rodeoing!! So Jimmy gets back in the horse and breaks back again and then leaves when Jimmy goes to Texas, never calls, writes or anything and is shocked when Jimmy shows up with a new gf, who was willing to follow him and like him for who he is.
Daaamn....salty as hell. I've enjoyed every single episode. Although this season spent too much time setting up the spin off shows.
I don't even watch Yellowstone. I just watch Ben's reaction(s) -- to anything.
season 4 was probably the weakest but since worth the watch
Yellowstone is definitely better than mayor of Kingstown. There is a reason it’s the most popular. Not because “pop culture”. But because the writing is insanely good, and the content is insanely needed.
“Blessed is the man who sitteth not in the counsel of th ungodly.” The show is so wicked and ungodly, I don’t see how a person could not be spiritually injured by it or at least be desensitized by the heinous sin in every scene. If it shows us anything, it’s this, God’s creation is beautiful beyond measure and mankind is wretched, miserable and blind to his holiness and the wrath to come.
Well the ranch in Texas just so happens to be named “The Sixes” with a logo of 6666, a few episodes ago we got to witness an elderly man beaten as if it was righteous, and there’s more than a few occult symbols prominently displayed for the viewer just for starters.
When you hear Ben explain the prison visit it really opens your eyes and make you say “holy fuck, yea that’s right” 😂😂😂
Hilarious review! Just good hearing someone else besides me saying this is terribly written and filled with some of the most repulsive scenes imaginable. When it's good it's actually quite good, but when it's bad it is laughably bad... oh my god is it bad!
Yes its BAD. It does have some terrific scenes, but the bad outweighs the good.

Yeah... there was some serious plot holes this season.... Definitely started in the very beginning, when I was like, wait, nobody died? The Duttons are super heroes apparently and just can't die no matter what. I mean I didn't want anybody to die but it just totally took away any realism the show had.
My main thing with Yellowstone is they are the closest to portraying the cowboy spirt in modern day, my dad and most of my family are ranchers so this show hits home for me

I really liked this season just for the fact that they didn't have to kill a antagonist every 2 minutes. Life can be mundanely interesting without fireworks every minute of the day. Really liked Jamie's story

As someone who lives in Bozeman, I can confirm. Yellowstone ranch is a scary place. We don't F with the Dutton's. Beth beat me up when we were in high school just to prove she could.
The interaction between Rip and Beth when Rip said "if you break our promise, it will remain broken" and the part where John said "I love you" to Beth was fantastic writing and acting.
Finally, super mad that Sawyer is not in the show any more. He was totally supposed to seduce Beth and cause all sorts of problems. I'm mad they "lost" him.

I think Sheridan moved on to writing for 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown and left Yellowstone season 4 to some junior writers
Seasons 1&2 is damn good. Season 3 is a step down but still good. Season 4 was just bad.

Seasons 1-3 are solid, this season took a notable nosedive and I had to force myself to finish the season. I hope they turn it around and end the series come season 5. I dont want them to drag it on.
