- Today we go fossil hunting in this gravel pit here in Germany. We can find basically ice age fossils (BONES, JAWS, TEETH of mammals like woolly mammoth, woolly rhinoceros, bison, horse, giant deer,...) which are between 126.000 and 11.700 years old (young pleistocene/ ice age).
But we can also find PETRIFIED WOOD and SNAILS and SHELLS which are around 30 million years old (Oligocene age).
A suction dredge and conveyor belts bring us these wonderful fossils which are laying on the ground of a lake in a depth of ~ 20 metres. And with all the gravel, sand, modern wood and stones there are also fossils we can find together :)

Welcome to my channel Fossil Wildlife :)
My name is Basti (nickname of Sebastian) and I´m a fossil hunter from Germany.
Because I´m a member of a fossil club in my town I can go fossil hunting in all different quarries and fossil locations in Germany (and Europe) and I learn a lot from the other members.
I want to share my fossil adventures with you so come with me to explore the world of paleontology and to unearth these fossils of the prehistoric wildlife.
Please leave a comment so I hear from other paleontologists :)
