I have owned my 1988 Turbo A for 7 years now, nearing the end of assembling a fully built 7M atm. The CT26E on this model is the biggest turbo toyota ever made as far as I can tell, its bigger than a 3071 and has a 58mm turbine exducer! I am slapping two of them onto my engine and have designed a sequential system so it isn't laggy as it is a street car after all. 7MGTE is a hugely underated engine imo, once you clamp the head on properly and replace the terrible oil cooler system you are golden, with stock internals handling 600whp-one in Australia is making that so you know its a real dyno figure ;) People rag on the A70 for being heavy but it is a MUCH bigger inside than skylines and far more comfortable to sit in as someone who is a little over 6 foot tall. Getting into a friends R34 feels very cramped in comparison and I much prefer the dash design then the skylines, but that is all personal preference which led me to buy one.
Great content, beautiful car! I also have a A70, with it’s OEM 7M is has been forged though, I love the car! Thank you for reviewing that beautiful car!
Definitely not a meme car for me. I've always wanted one, but for whatever reason they've always escaped me. I've owned many of Toyota's legendary cars from the era; two AE86s, an SW20 Turbo, two ST165 Celica GT-Fours(one of which I still own)... but the closest I got was a non-running project '88 MA70 with a blown 7MGTE and massive rust issues that caused me to drop the project. I still kinda lust after one, but it'll probably be a little while.
MK3 for life. I will never let my 88 go. They are just amazing cars and I love mine.

I own a 92 as well, originally a 7m turbo now a 560whp and 490tq 1jz. Lots of fun
Keep it up! Man!! MA70 rules!
I'm late to the party but that is most definitely a wide body car
