So many people overthinking Gumigoo's reaction to having his name called. A stranger he doesn't know refers to him by name. He'd be weirded out and was gonna ask "How do you know my name?". Since he showed none of it, he definitely doesn't remember her, just thinks she's strange, and wants to be on his merry way like any other NPC. It's a key part of the episode's horror aspect, and people are missing the point to lean more towards the drama aspect.

Apparently, this has something to do with Caine reusing NPCs, one point is that the past data of the NPC is either restarted, erased, or was regenerated to a new data.
The body language is nervousness, but in most scenarios and someone is acting like this it is because of a massive crush. That’s also why the other characters interpreted as and even called it “flirting”. It can definitely be interpreted as romantic even if that is not the direction the story goes in.

This comment section is why I think we are losing media literacy. In episode 2 they literally told us Gummigoo is GONE. DONE. The Gummigoo here is very obviously a new blank slate of a character, he does NOT remember Pomni, and he was simply weirded out by Pomni knowing his name. He might recognize her a bit, but there is no way for him to remember her completely. And no, Pomni doesnt have a crush on him either, she's just being her usual nervous wreck of a self, exacerbated by the fact someone she saw literally die infront of her is right there. Agreed. Honestly, when I first saw this scene I just thought: pomni is shocked by seeing someone again that Caine snapped out of existence, and gummigoo is not sure how someone knows his name. He looked sad at the end because he felt sorry for pomni. Never thought he "remembered" her. Only once I read other interpretations to it did I see any semblance of romantic interest. She is just really socially awkward and nervous. That's why it comes off another way. Men and women can converse without wanting to hook up.

It might be just in his coding at that moment but considering how they got some memories of what they do before they end up in the circus(like how Gangle says that they used to be a shift manager before) it could be possible that Sheila was probably her name before Pomni went into the circus?

He didn’t want Pomni to question his identity because he knew it would all be for nothing. It’s not like he can go to the circus or live a free life with his sentience, so the only thing he can do is act like a normal NPC. If anything, Cain could have just as easily blown him up that day. In the end she lets him go after realizing the gravity behind his eyes. He knows what he’s supposed to be, and neither Pomni or Gumigoo can do anything about it. Side note, this has made me wonder if he keeps his sentience this time since Cain didn’t blew him up. Although the moment he walked out of the adventure could have reset his programming, what if it didn’t? Maybe Cain wouldn’t notice that Gumigoo has changed, so his data would remain intact

Everyone pointing out Gumigoo reacts when Pomni says his name. Not only that but his eyes narrow like he feels sad or something. I do believe that Pomni saying his name triggered him to remember her, since we know Cain isnt very good at his job it could be he didn’t properly erase the memories, and due to him remembering he also remembers what Cain did to him and doesn’t wanna bring attention to himself again
This Gummigoo is just trying to be polite despite the awkwardness. They don't know they are NPCs. They don't remember. Cause Caine tries hard to make sure NPCs don't become self aware. All because it's implied in episode 2 that Caine MIGHT have deleted a human once thinking they were an NPC. This is why Caine instantly deleted Gummigoo the first time. So this second Gummigoo is just acting confused but polite.
I woke up to the premiere of this episode without any context, and I entered the stream at right around the point of the episode where Pomni wishes Gummigoo a wonderful day. I didn't expect to wake up with heartache that day.
i think goose is aware of how much the fandom ships gummigoo and pomni. Gummigoo is the most beloved character outside the main cast, he's so popular, he is the secondary character with the most merch, maybe the fans love him to much that his merch sells so good and glitch keeps producing more of him. This reminds me of when Beast Boy found a girl that looks exactly like Terra in the last episode of Teen Titans. It's never confirmed nor denied that she's the real Terra, and the girl wants it that way.
I just can't help but feel like deep down he knows but can't bring that up, even if his memories are erased, this sense of familiarity kicks in sometimes on him but he just wants to continue with the program. I don't know if it's because he's afraid or just because something stuck in his cache. but you can see on his face that he doesn't want to go back to it.

This comment section is why I think we are losing media literacy. In episode 2 they literally told us Gummigoo is GONE. DONE. The Gummigoo here is very obviously a new blank slate of a character, he does NOT remember Pomni, and he was simply weirded out by Pomni knowing his name. He might recognize her a bit, but there is no way for him to remember her completely.
And no, Pomni doesnt have a crush on him either, she's just being her usual nervous wreck of a self, exacerbated by the fact someone she saw literally die infront of her is right there. It can be interpreted as a crush but I heavily doubt it as Gooseworx herself said theres no romance in TADC.

Agreed. Honestly, when I first saw this scene I just thought: pomni is shocked by seeing someone again that Caine snapped out of existence, and gummigoo is not sure how someone knows his name. He looked sad at the end because he felt sorry for pomni. Never thought he "remembered" her. Only once I read other interpretations to it did I see any semblance of romantic interest.
She is just really socially awkward and nervous. That's why it comes off another way. Men and women can converse without wanting to hook up.

0:56 Pomni calling him Gumigoo was the moment he remembered his connection to her. In this scene, his mouth opens in awe and he starts wanting to reach out his hand to touch her.
1:13 His eyes glance back to her and then to the door, giving her a look of fear that she shouldn’t be talking to him and that he needs to leave. He didn’t want Pomni to question his identity because he knew it would all be for nothing. It’s not like he can go to the circus or live a free life with his sentience, so the only thing he can do is act like a normal NPC. If anything, Cain could have just as easily blown him up that day.
In the end she lets him go after realizing the gravity behind his eyes. He knows what he’s supposed to be, and neither Pomni or Gumigoo can do anything about it.
Side note, this has made me wonder if he keeps his sentience this time since Cain didn’t blew him up. Although the moment he walked out of the adventure could have reset his programming, what if it didn’t? Maybe Cain wouldn’t notice that Gumigoo has changed, so his data would remain intact

I do believe that Pomni saying his name triggered him to remember her, since we know Cain isnt very good at his job it could be he didn’t properly erase the memories, and due to him remembering he also remembers what Cain did to him and doesn’t wanna bring attention to himself again

This Gummigoo is just trying to be polite despite the awkwardness. They don't know they are NPCs. They don't remember. Cause Caine tries hard to make sure NPCs don't become self aware. All because it's implied in episode 2 that Caine MIGHT have deleted a human once thinking they were an NPC. This is why Caine instantly deleted Gummigoo the first time. So this second Gummigoo is just acting confused but polite.

Gummigoo is the most beloved character outside the main cast, he's so popular, he is the secondary character with the most merch, maybe the fans love him to much that his merch sells so good and glitch keeps producing more of him. I just can't help but feel like deep down he knows but can't bring that up, even if his memories are erased, this sense of familiarity kicks in sometimes on him but he just wants to continue with the program. I don't know if it's because he's afraid or just because something stuck in his cache. but you can see on his face that he doesn't want to go back to it.
