  • Paddling the Siltcoos River in Florence, Oregon was an adventure we'll never forget! Siltcoos is a very windy river through a beautiful forest that leads to the ocean. The river has downed trees hanging over it, and branches in the water, adding an extra challenge for your ride. You'll love the scenery, the calmness of the water, the ever-changing topography around every corner, and that the end of the trip is the Pacific Ocean.
This is a highly-recommended paddle board or kayak trip because of its diversity. It starts in a lake, turns into a narrow river, includes a dam where you get out and walk your board/kayak around the dam, and then goes to the ocean. It's perfect as a short river trip, or a longer trip to the ocean. Enjoy the forest atmosphere, the massive sand dunes, and views you'll never forget. Definitely worth a trip!!
Special thanks to the Mitchells for loaning us their paddle boards!

Yes, it was non-stop trees in the water. The closer we got to the ocean, the less trees there were in the river. And you'll love that tips & tricks video--it features things we've learned over the years to make your paddle trip more enjoyable. Keep on paddling!

Looks fun! How long does it take to get there and back?

We went from the lake to the river, and then almost to the ocean. We did not go all the way to the ocean--only until we could see it. That took 2.5 hours round trip. If you went all the way to the ocean and back, it would be over 3 hours. It's a great trip--well worth it!! Enjoy!

It is USCG requirement to have life jacket and whistle.

Thank you. Some locations have said they only required the life jacket to be on the paddle board. Others have required that paddlers wear them. We appreciate the info. It's always best to wear them.
