My old Trangia used to soot up the bottom of the frying pan. I never knew that adding water to the metho would stop that: What percentage of water to alcohol works best? I used to find that the pots--being closer to the flame--used to burn the sort off (or stop it from forming, perhaps). For the pan, I used to wipe it with a dry tissue because soapy water failed to wash it away and just caused that black sludge to cover my hands to the extent that my fellow campers began to mistake me for Justin Trudeau.

I ended up buying one in aluminum and sold it off and bought another because of a funky smell. I didn’t have to actually have heat on it. It just had a smell.
I finally got the second one. Unfortunately that one had that smell to. Finally sold that one off after finding the stainless version. Thinking it was the Aluminum I went stainless. Got that one an it still had a slight smell. Nomatter what I did to clean it soak ect. No luck I kept it though. Really wanted to like the military trangia. If I could just get past that it would be bombproof

Keep moving Paul. The Trangia is one of my all time favorites. I bought a Trangia 28 on Ebay for $19.50 US shipped and when it arrived the bowl was bent slightly so I got another 30% off. It ended up being $13.30. It was a returned item which was never used. Really small, but I bought it mostly for the stove and stand. I will incorporate it into my rotation.

Hi mate, you're not going to like this but the best way to reduce inflammation is to fast. It's usually recommend by the Hospital before an operation, if the area they operate in is inflamed. Before someone comments that it's normal not to eat so may hours before an operation due to the anaesthetic, yes I know, but this is different. Do some research on fasting, also check with your doctor. Hope you get better soon and I hope you are claiming compensation.
