So , that is how most ppl get jobs through networking. Y’all are very lame for downplaying a grown man with a family in search of a position that he wants to do. I hope this never happens to you, never giving a chance because your whole family says you can’t do it. Stop the hate and let him at least try. Supposedly good coaches get fired every year. How about try something new .

@@SuperSonic_868 this is why ppl never get an opportunity, because of ppl like you. If that job wasn’t for me it wasn’t for me. I’m not crying. I have always been blessed to have opportunities. I’m currently in a position that everyone around me has a masters and doctrine degree. I have no degree. Sometimes that person with experience or a degree may not be the best fit. You definitely would not be a good fit, because of your attitude of woe is me. I trust the Lord to lead me and have always been directed in the right path.

Exactly. And everyone thinking "JJ wasn't the first pick" actually helps him and the Lakers out, because it lowers the stakes and expectations some. They want a playoff birth to be a big win in JJ's first year. If Hurley or another high profile coach got the Lakers bounced in round 1 then that would have been a disappointment. Hire JJ and making the playoffs, not the play-in, will be seen as a "great start." That's what this is all set up to do.

I think The Clippers hiring Van Gundy as a lead assistant is an under the radar hire.
The man really knows defense and defensive strategy.
Whether he has updated his concepts to match what's happening in today's game is yet to be seen, but i really like that hire for Coach Lue.
I never thought of Coach Lue as an x's and o's guy with specific offensive and defensive concepts as his bread and butter.
      He's a motivator and communicator.
Now he has a tactician as his lead assistant.
Very good move by The Clippers front office in my view!

If Kobe don't like you it's in his mind forever, just like how Micheal didn't like Isaiah Thomas and kept him off the Dream team.

@@vincente4570 ....the main thing that hurt The Lakers these last 7 seasons is injury.
They are constantly dealing with injury and i know every nba team deals with this but when you have 2 max salary players, it gets harder to play elite basketball when your depth is compromised.
I'm not arguing Gabe Vincent, Jared Vanderbilt, and Cam Reddish were irreplaceable reserves but they were more important for a team like The Lakers because their best player is 39 years of age.
Those 3 players are defensive minded role players that can do a lot of the gritty dirty work and could take some minutes from lesser defenders like AR, Rui, and D Lo.....
For a year and a half they had 3 max players and during that year and half, AD and Bron missed a combined 90+ games out of like a possible 140+ games.
So their 3 best players only played like 47-50 games together over that span.
It will be the same this season.
With Bron and AD combining for nearly $100 mil between them, The Lakers just won't have depth if they attempt to add a third star level player and if they choose depth, they can't afford injuries to Bron and AD.
      The west is brutal.

It's more complicated than that some of the greatest coaches in NBA history Phil Jackson Pat Riley Jerry Sloan were all role players for some reason which I do not know but it kinda makes sense role players that were above average or around average as NBA players would make the best coaches they spend the most on the bench talking to the coach while also spending a decent amount of time playing their basketball iq is likely higher than people give them credit for. Since they don't have the skills of a superstar with that being said JJ has ZERO experience coaching anything so I'm a bit worried.

That's good enough in my opinion. Sometimes these guys make it sound like there is a head coach University one has to go to, before becoming a head coach. I think JJ Redick will be a great head coach over time.
