I totally agree with your logic regarding starting with a perimeter cut. Someone with lots of experience like yourself knows exactly where a machine can and can't reach.

With the weather being what it is (raining a few days every week) and lawncare companies struggling to add reliable workers, homeowners need to be more understanding and above all else GRATEFUL to even be on a mowing route. My lawn guy is dealing with these same issues here in East TN - but like you two, he's worth WAITING for!

As to unloading your gear every day, as a retired city cop (33 years), every barrier you can put between your stuff and the Adam Henry’s out there is worth doing. Good job. What’s your first impressions on those Ballard blades? I’m holding off getting them till your final review video on them. I’m also gonna get some of that cleaner and a Darwin’s grip as well. I’m also gonna be getting an echo combi unit with edger attachment, my spare combi weed eater bit the dust, so I’m gonna replace it with the echo. I have the echo srm-225 and I like it a lot.
I once had a plow customer that refused to pay his bill. I eventually got the State Police involved to get my money, which I did in August. The guy called me up to see if I was going to plow for him again the upcoming season. That was a hard no. LOL
I Laughed. Sean you are funny. That black box is a rat trap. You both do great work. Yup. In life it is true. You don't know what you got until it is gone. You did the right stuff.

No, Spencer-- you are NOT coming off as a jerk. I would have done the same. He treated you very disrespectfully and denigrated you. I would not do business with this jerk either. You are allowed to feel the way you do--any other lawn service would have dropped him also. Let him go and whistle in the wind and get stuffed! I live in Minneapolis, MN, USA, and we have many car jackings and trailer thefts and it is so bad when they steal all of the tools with trailer. You are right to secure your trailer with a hitch lock or whatever you have because it is getting to be so bad. They will steal anything.

I'm loving the springtime/summer weather. My legs and shoulders have lost their stamina, but by August I'll be in good shape 🙂 The man who cancelled you last week, called you this week...I'm guessing he's discovered a pricing difference...or whoever he found - if he found - didn't do the job as well as you guys. But no, don't go back. If he's "that kind of customer", let a different company have him. Sad he's that way, but it's on him.

Have you ever considered using square or rectangular (cat litter type) buckets? The tall ones hold a lot of stuff, especially twigs and small branches.
The outdoor mouse traps usually have a brick in them to keep them in place.

Don't know if I would have been able to handle that ex-customer situation in the same manner as you. I would have had to be a little more biting and passive-aggressive. I don't take kindly to people who behave like that. Can't imagine ever treating a company or any person for that matter like he treated you. Hopefully he God can help him with more patience and learn how to properly treat folks.

You are not a jerk. This is what happens when a customer decides they are more important than anyone else and that you could not be in business without them. Temper tantrum will cost him more or less for less if you know what I mean.

I wonder if that company could post a notice by the time clocks asking the employees not to back up so far that they are covering the grass, to make it a little easier on you guys? Your probably not there on the same day every week… but just a thought. A little cooperation and consideration goes a long way these days.

I worked for a University and the policy was NO Backing into parking spots. Mainly due to blocking sidewalks but for mowing as well.

Good video guys! I agreed with you Sean about the customer can be jerks sometime. Since the rain I had for like three days and I told some of my customers to be patient with me since I'm behind with lawn care and they agreed and was very patient with me about the weather delay,
I have a question I hope you can answer: I work a full time job and do lawn care on the weekends. How many jobs you typically do in a day? I ask because I did three jobs this last Saturday and two jobs on Sunday and I’m hurtin for certain! How do you guys do it?

Every day is different. Most days, we do about 8 or 9. But we do have a day we do 11 or 12
But give it time. It takes a few weeks for the body to adjust.

I don't blame you. When anyone thinks that they are so much better than another person that they think they can just text "you're fired!" Let them go. I respect your calmness over it. But I can tell it bugs you that you can't make every customer happy. It's going to be fine moving on.

Cole Sonne at Sonne Farms was presented a TORO Mower on today's video. He got one last year , used it and had a give-a-way drawing at the end of season last year. Kawasaki EFI and shocks on the sit down mower, same as last year.
Good job as always..You and TQ...A awesome..great family..Question if you had a property to do with a push mower and upgraded to a zero turn and takes half the time would you charge the same amount...Thanks Shawn...

The customer is "NOT" always right. Good for you not taking him back. I think most people wouldn't. You can be nice, but doesn't mean you have to accept or put up with some peoples bs.

I remember that about 4 years ago. I get the unloading also we keep our stuff locked up also.
That's one of the reasons why I went to all residential homes, I hated picking up garbage bc every week you go back it's back again.
I love my location. I'm a 1/4 mile from the cop shop. Plus all the lights that I have set up. Nobody, person or animal can move without being seen. I also have other things in select locations that help. When are we going to see stuff happening at the property? I still need to get the last few tanks. I've been busy like you.
NEVER PUT HEADLIGHTS ON YOUR MOWER. THE SUN GOES DOWN FOR REASON! ITS TIME TO GO HOME.

On the new property, build a large Garage with a pull through. Just drive the entire trailer in , unhook, drive the truck out the back. All locked up and ready to roll for the next job.

Have had customers complain about price only twice in 30yrs, told them that the last service will be a no charge and that they can get another company, both tried to get me back but that ship had sailed.

Sean put a hidden kill switch on your truck and put an alarm on the trailer or camera system that will alert you of any motion. Then send the dog out first and then you come out armed. You park your trailer at your home. You have no excuse for not getting an enclosed trailer, I am not trying to break your balls. You are wasting time and energy dickey docking around with unloading every day. As you get older your time becomes more valuable. Maybe fence in your yard and park your trailer there with a nice guard dog. I have been doing this for over 40 years and a police officer for over 30 years, I know what I am talking about. Buy an enclosed trailer and take the necessary steps to protect it. Trust me once you do that you will never go back to an open trailer. Good luck to you and tq.
