I remember in 9th grade I prayed Kirk Cameron would become a Christian. I wrote him a letter explaining the gospel message as best as I could and sent it to the address in my Teen Beat magazine. Lol. I doubt he got it, but my prayers were still answered! :-)

If you weren’t at least in elementary school to an adult in the mid-Eighties, you have no idea how huge of a star Kirk Cameron was at that time. He was on every magazine cover and every boy wanted to be like Mike Seiver, while every girl wanted to date him. Problem is, kirk wants to go back to the days of the 1950's when members of the lgbt community were viewed as either A) having a mental illness which resulted in them being locked up and tortured in asylums for years or B) viewed as being akin to pedophiles/child molesters and locked up in prison. Either way, his kind of anti-lgbt rhetoric resulted in lgbt people being harassed and beaten by the police, and then thrown in jail where they are beaten, raped, and/or stabbed to death in the old days. That's not the world I want to live in and I don't want my future nieces and nephews to live in that kind of world either.

@SpaceAgeSlave Hollywood is a suburb of Hell. Producers are notorious sex fiends, raping men, women and children, and getting away with it. Roman Polanski was convicted of drugging and raping a 14-year-old girl, and he was actually incredulous that anyone would dare throw him in jail for that! Oprah Winfrey had the audacity to defend that pervert, even though he jumped bail, and is still living as a wanted fugitive in France. Hollywood is infested with perverts like Polanski; they just haven't been caught yet. "Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment" (Isaiah 59:15). Even so, come, Lord Jesus! @@amandahuginkiss4098 You haven't bothered to actually read the bible or understand the cultures of the time to see that the bible doesn't support slavery; it was a form of indentured work and the biblical laws forbid injuring, killing or even sexually assaulting those in that situation. It provided a way for poverty stricken families to be able to find work, food and shelter.
As for mass slaughtering charge, you ignore the fact that the societies God ordered wiped out were involved in Child and human sacrifices and incredible perversions. It was sick society that God gave 400 years to turn from this behaviour before bringing judgement on them. God warned the Jews that if they picked up the same attitudes and actions of those people they would also be judged; and they were.
You ignore the fact that God told the Jews not to attack other groups of people and to even pay for the use of the roads. Why? Because God doesn't just bring capital judgement on people without allowing them time to straighten out their lives, but God will bring judgement on them or their descendants when they have become such a sick society that they can no longer respond to the warnings of how sick they are.
Want an example. Re-watch the videos of ANTIFA and BLM burning down towns while screaming how they are oppressed or western society supposedly is oppressing others. How immigrant shop owners supposedly suppressed them has never been answered, but that wasn't the reason for the destruction anyway. The vast majority of those individuals involved are now being found to be career criminals just using the event to murder, steal and destroy while much of the main stream media justified their actions. How close is Western culture now to being irredeemable?

I remember noticing the change in him, watching episodes of Growing Pains. I hadn't watched it super regularly - it was a bit too worldly of a show for my parents to probably approve of for us as kids/teens, so, I sorta just watched it when they weren't around, knowing that for myself anyways, it wasn't going to change core values as a Christian ( not that even subtle influences aren't still effective and dangerous , or that I endorse doing unnecessary things your parents don't want u to ! ). Anyways, I totally noticed something different about him, that seemed to be coming from within him, not just from the script, which also seemed to be suddenly more pro-wholesome, nearly obviously Christian values - in his character's life anyways. So, I suspected he may have gotten saved and was able to influence the scripts for his character, but had no way of knowing, as a busy ( farming ), homeschooled and not at all online or buying Hollywood mags etc., teen. So, I prayed for him now n then and that's that, til after fireproof came out and I saw it at a friend's house and found out some of his story ! Later I read his autobiography and heard the rest. It was just so very neat how I could just tell, even thru a fictional TV show, that he was probably born again. Continuing to pray for the rest of the cast and others, & everyone around the world !

Love you kirk Cameron, I wish my son could listen and learn from you. He is into film making industry, grew up a soft Christian young man, but now, he's so hardened, different, so much changed about his life direction, I just pray for him, now.

It takes a rare individual to have everything they want around them. All the money, fame, mansions, cars, women, and to still be sincere, humble and not self absorbed enough to question what it all means, seek a higher power, feel/know there must be something beyond all this, etc.

I love Kirk and everything he stands for!! We also love all of the Prager University videos. We just started watching the Prager U for kids videos and LOVE them!! We are also a homeschool family and have been homeschooling since our oldest was 4! We went to our first homeschool conference was when our oldest daughter was 8 months old. Our youngest was a 1 day old foster baby and her adoption was finalized when she was less than 11 months old! It was a total miracle! She is now 11 and our oldest is 19. 💕

I enjoyed your story! It reminded me of the scripture in Alma 62:41. "But behold, because of the exceedingly great length of the war between the Nephites and the Lamanites many had become hardened, because of the exceedingly great length of the war; and many were softened because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God, even in the depth of humility." You are right...we all experience difficulties in life. We choose if those challenges will turn us toward God or away from him.

Had a similar experience with homeschooling. I was teaching university, and researching with CSI/FBI, GCSB & Police, so when friends encouraged us to home school, I didn't think it possible, but then our eldest was incomprehensibly falling behind in some subjects, and the university didn't renew my contract (which I later learned was illegal), I decided to try home schooling using ACE materials. Government rules made us jump through a lot of hoops that discourage home schooling, but with the help of friends, we got there. Prior to that, my offers to help with homework would be met with rejection: "You're not a teacher. you're just dad." Within 3 months of starting to home school, I overheard my daughter tell a friend. "No. That's not right. My Dad says, ..." That affirmed my decision to take back responsibility for what my children learned. That was 5 years ago. Averages have moved from 60% to 98% in all subjects, and they've learned to be self motivated and responsible for their education, and by extension, their lives.

My wife and i got married at 23 and 22 and everyone said we were nuts. 4 years later we have a beautiful son who is our world and we are so happy in the gift God gave us. We skipped an unknown ammount of pain by marrying young and we see pur friends who chose hookup culture experiencing that pain. I hope they choose to get out of it and find the joy that we have.

We have 5 that are special needs, and it's getting harder. Please pray for my family, as we continue this journey.
