Your summing up is spot on. As someone who likes to regularly spend time on the car, a ceramic coating is counter intuitive. A ceramic coating means I don’t need to regularly spend time on the car where’s the fun in that?! Another consideration is if you like to try different new products, a coating means you’re committing to one thing for a couple of years.
Personally Reg if you like maintaining your car the Gyeon Q2 wax does the trick for me. Last a fair few months and makes regular washing very easy to clean.I last waxed my car back in October and its still performing great with Gyeon ceramic detailer.
For me this kind of products make sense. I love my "normal" cars...but strugle to have them clean. Living in a Swiss mountain region, with only one washing station and not allowed to wash in public sidewalks, you can imagin how hard it is to perform a good job!!
Great vid Reg!!!
Beware of water spots with ceramic coatings. I suffered this until I used the latest from Sentinel Autocare in Singapore. The best is graphene infused, super glossy and prevents water spotting, AND IT WORKS! Its a pity it is not available in the UK yet unless you pay for the postage. I think its worth it!
If you're a Singaporean, just remember that there's one Bad Ass coating known as CS-II.
I couldn’t find a graphene one from Sentinel, which one did you use that didn’t cause water spots ?
Would love to see more tips and tutorials on detailing the 140 🙏
Nice car I'm 50 and I detail my car and friends ans and familys weekly just love it ots taking me longer tho lol great to see cars being looked after...
Nice jacket ❤
Only thing I've found with ceramic coating is your car is always wet through the winter when all the neighbour's cars have dried out in the winter sun mine is still covered in frozen water beads, not bothered putting any on for the last couple of months but might do again now that spring has finally arrived. - Nice content and nice car thanks... Going to try that snow foam too I have turtle wax cherry and it's not so great.
I used to be just as ocd when I was your age. It was waxed and polished every 2 weeks. Now that I'm 50, I can't be arsed and just pay some £6 every fortnight. God bless foreign workers.
That’s fair enough. It’s your car, you can do what ever you like. The nice thing is, if you ever wanted to get it detailed to give it a ‘new lease of life’, there is always that option. Enjoy 😁
That comment really made me chuckle. 😂
That’s one of the many problems that comes with age 😢
Great vid.. I have DiamondBrite carbon class coating. 3.5years and still going strong (using top up products when needed) and also use touchless 👍
Still amazed that no matter how dirty the car gets, a good maintenance wash always brings it back with a great pop of gloss 🙂
Are they floating centre caps you have on your alloys? Look good, would you recommend? 👍🚗
Nice Dave! That’s really impressive. They are floating centre caps. Definitely recommend!
Car looks great RR.
Thank you!
Really miss being able to clean my BMW on the driveway as I now live in Germany and its totally not allowed, still a good video, thanks
That must be frustrating. Do you have a place where you can clean it yourself, with a jet wash, etc?
How often you change engine oil?
Have you ever used meguiars bead booster? When applied properly it's impressive protecting the car!
I’ve not, but I’m intrigued!
I just applied mohs evo and love it, but I am not sure it's right for me. I have black paint that is so easy to swirl and what I want more than any other property is hardness and swirl resistance .. would pure evo or another brand have been better with higher sio2 content or otherwise
Recently looked into buying a new Kia (I didn't in the end and got a 435d instead), the salesman was desperate for me to have Diamondbrite at £599 !!!, as I had previously had it on my wifes Fiesta I knew it was a waste of money, he claimed once on it never needed doing again as it came with a lifetime guarantee.
I've seen other vids showing how long it lasts and certainly isn't a lifetime by a long shot.
How are the discs? Do you find them noisy? Biggest peeve is the water drops coming from under the mirrors after washing
They are great.. will be doing a video on those soon!
My M140i is the same, dry the car and 5 mins later dribbles of water down the front doors from the mirrors, dry it off and 5 mins later more dribbles, dry it off again, 5 mins later more dribbles aaarrgh !
@@DjNikGnashers you should get yourself an air dryer! Game changer
@Nik Gnashers fold the mirrors for a few minutes and that should fix the problem, trust me.
@@bradofwar5960 Nice tip, I'll try that thanks.
How are the PS5's treating you compared to the F1 Supersports and the 4s's? I have a tyre dilemma for my Golf R.
I will be making a video about these very soon!
I have bought a set in a tire shop and they said PS4s are the best for daily driving, even more with the xdrive I have on mine.
What shampoo did you use to wash the car?
Gyeon Bathe
@@roadreg1820 nice one. I put mohs on my white car last weekend after watching your application video 🙌🏻✌🏻
Top video Reg 👍 I have literally been waiting and waiting for an update on the coating so great to see!
Agreed with your conclusions on when/when not a coating makes sense and touch-less being awesome. Because the car is white and the camera work we didn’t really see the beading but looked great from some shots.
I have the EVO ONE coating and think it’s fantastic - real candy gloss and doing impressively well after 6 months now. Keep going - you’re a legend Reg 🤣
Thank you for the kind words! 🤩
The hood of your car is made of aluminum. Stone chips will not cause any rust issues on the hood.
Good to know - thank you
Those do it yourself ceramic coatings don't last very long and are a waste of time.
My Ceramic Pro Gold (life time guarantee with annual maintenance), looks as good as new after 2 years, however you have to use a topper for it every 6 months, but more importantly, you have to wash it every week (I do rinsless wash weekly) and then proper foam wash once a month, no need for quick detailers in between, if you only wash your car once a month, you're wasting your money on a ceramic coating.
As far as stone chips, PPF the front 😊
My BMW 540i cost around £2500 for the lot, expensive, but well worth it, in my opinion
Even with PPF, stone chips can go though, but it definitely helps. Tbh, I touch up stone chips on my bumper, so I am not that fussed. Plus it’s going to happen regardless. I’m intrigued about your 540i. I test drove the saloon last year. Loved it! I would love a 540i touring.
Life time guarantee with ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
you should put a coating on your coating.. you know, to protect the coating. 😅
Yep
waste of money. Might as well get those chinese amazon coating for 1/4 of that price, same protection
Nice 👌 you can do that then
Your paint has protection from the factory . The clear coat is the paint protector and u only need to keep a shine on that . Wax longer lasting shine , detailer for nice shine after a wash . The rest is Bull 💩
The point is that eventually all clear coat will get swirls in it, which ruins the paint look. The better you can protect the clear coat the longer the good look will last. By adding a coating (be it wax or ceramic) dirt and water sticks to it less and means your touch wash is less damaging as it either doesn’t stick in the first place or comes off easily with the jet wash
@@philgornall so just use a wax every six weeks or detailer .
No coating will ever stop dirt bedding into the clear coat over time . Thats why a good machine polish is a good idea every few years . Ceramic Coatings are hype in IMHO . Save your Money and invest in A good Professional Car detailer every few years
@@stevenfoleyuk9404 isn’t wax just a type of coating though? Seems contradictory. Wax is a coating, it just doesn’t last as long generally as a ceramic one. They’re both used for the same purpose, wax is not meant to enhance shine as a primary driver, it’s a protector. It’s a clear coat without swirls which gives the majority of the shine.
I don’t necessarily disagree that ceramic coatings are hyped up though, especially if you have a good wash technique. It’s probably more useful for those that don’t do the necessary pre wash and would therefore damage the clear coat sooner
@@philgornall wax is a protection of the clear coat and helps maintain the shine .
Wax is cheaper than Ceramic and Ceramic is expensive hype .
Im not contradicting myself because what Im saying is a wax is all we need and Ceramic is a expensive hyped up coating .
If Ceramic lived up to its hype then Im sure Car manufactures would add it in the production finishing process .
Each to their own but if anyone wants to send me the best Ceramic Coating money can buy then i will give it a try .
@@stevenfoleyuk9404 fair. I think some manufacturers do offer it but not from the factory as far as I know, only at the dealership.
Personally I think the ‘light’ ceramics like Gyeon CanCoat supercede waxes now, but that’s just opinion. Waxes seem a bit yesteryear now.
Weekly washing and once a month Meguuiars #21 by hand keeps my car like new.
weekly washing is the real secret 👍
Too time consuming to apply a quick detailer every month from my point of view. Prefer my Ceramic Pro life time guaranteed and just maintain it with a Car Pro Reload every 6 months
@@jackdominiak445 It's amazing what a good wash can do..and I will add drying all of the door, hood and trunk jambs thoroughly.
