Before I dive into every episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, I need to mention the super expensive blu ray collection... it is kind of... well...

It was cheaper for the blu ray collectors than buying the show on eBay. I wonder how they sorted out the copyright issues for the adv dub.
I just rebought the platinum collection, the original one in the bigger dvd cases with the art box; not the thinpack one. Even though I have the collectors edition, I think the platinum collection has the better presentation. I don’t mind the simplistic art on the Blu-ray, but I think the shiny slipcovers and the beautiful character art on the DVD cases are just better.
Is the Blu ray menu for End if Evangelion the same as it was for the manga entertainment dvd version? That menu was so well done and I'd be disappointed if it wasn't the same
The menus on all the discs are all the same, even for the movies, pretty boring.
no it fucking wasnt. i spent all that money just for the best quality version of the classic dub just for a friend to steal it and instantly move cities away never to speak to me again. i have purchased the superior platinum collection to replace it
I like both dubs equally. Both are good in my opinion for different reasons.

Blame Anno for wanting a new English dub as apparently he hated the original ADV Films/Manga dub. As for the absence of Fly Me to the Moon, that's a copyright complication due to a western song being used in a Japanese production. It's weird.
You can switch out the cover pictures in the perfect collection, case 2 has an Asuka picture. I was looking for the review and got hyped when you also had the same collection as me lmao
I own the full set of DVD's originally distributed by ADV Films (classic English dub FTW), as well as the Platinum Edition which was released circa 2004. I'm not really sure whether it's worth it to buy the series again on Blu-Ray. I'm hoping your reviews will specify what (if any) bonus features are included, such as documentaries, commentaries, interviews, etc.
Does the "classic" dub, have fly me to the moon, and is it in 4:3? These are the things I requite
Are the voice actors of the Netflix dub credited in some way?
Someone on eBay, please have a selling of this bluray set, but it only contains the classic bersion (unit 02) case. Because that is the only thing I care about the set, and I don't want to spend money on extra shit I like or care about just to get the shit I do care about. PLEASE.

I only want the blu ray for the blu ray of Eva death/rebirth and end for the classic dub. I have the manga entertainment dvd but the quality is hot garbage. On the fence of spending $200 for just one blu ray 😫
im in the same position. Honestly considering pirating the classic dub on dvd cause spending 200 for basically just 1 dvd is insane

Although I do prefer the ADV dub, the Netflix version's voice cast grew on me. It wasn't that they sucked; in fact i think they kicked total ass in their performances. Admittedly, it was a weird adjustment at first but i started to realized it's flawed because of Khara and Dan Kanemitsu. The way script was going for a 1:1 translation didn't flow as naturally as before (seriously; First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Child>Children).
I say this because the Rebuild Amazon dub brought back some of the old VAs from the ADV days and while i still ended up liking it (mainly due to the old VAs), Khara and Dan just made the lines stiff and awkward. Toji's VA in particular was totally off (except in the fourth film where he is an adult), should have just brought back Johnny to voice him again.
Anyone can say what they want about the ADV and Funimation dubs but god damn were they done much better. VAs totally had more energy and fun with how they were allowed to voice the characters.

What I hate most about the Netflix Dub is the "you're deserving of my grace" scene and where they ruined the congrats scene
Shinji just sounds too feminine in the Netflix dub, that really annoyed me.
I bought the ultimate edition and it's allegedly showing up this week. Hopefully it's going to get here in one piece

I personally got the blu ray for the Japanese dub as every Japanese dub is good. I wish the ADV dub was there.

It was the only version that had the original dub.

the original is amazing. the reboot movies started amazing, went up in quality and the last 2 were a complete disappointment.
