we love vocalists flexing their vocals but my favourite live moments are the unserious ones, like seokjin going "popping popping popping popping popping woo" while performing cns. i also LOVE when the singer starts giggling/laughing while singing

@@tonimaroy4557 Apparently the stage was wet. Dasom and Bora were lucky to be wearing better shoes but Hyolyn and Soyou were fighting for their lives. It's actually insane how bad it was, they practically had to be carried off stage.

My favorite is Wheein's part in Mamamoo's queendom I Miss You performance, it's so delicate and perfected and just sounds so so good.
It's not a coincidence that we don't have so many iconic live singing moments with 4th and 5th gens like we used to with 2nd and 3rd gens. Now you don't have to be able to sing well to become a popular idol and go viral. I really miss top tier singers in kpop 😢
the sad thing is that the good vocal groups tend to be sidelined. Weeekly has a strong vocals overall yet their last comeback did not even break the 10M mark.
2nd gen and 3rd gen actually learned music and had vocal training. 4th and 5th gen are getting trained in lip syncing.
it's always interesting for me what 4th gen groups aru y'all listening cause those i know are live like 80-90% despite hard choreo and are really good and well-known singers

ateez’s performances always give me chills
soyeon is such a queen. gidle performed in my country last year during a kpop festival. there were some issues with mics in general, they changed soyeons mic like two times. it still didnt work but you could hear her. shes tiny but so powerful
Soyeon can project her voice like few others. Girl must be a nightmare for the sound engineers.

@@HOSHTASTIC i also wasnt there, just watched the livestream. i think that few groups had problems with the mics but they all gave their best, i had so much fun watching all of the performances
one of my fave live moments was 2014 Kpop world festival, BAP was performing One Shot and poor Daehyun, he'd been pulled out of the hospital to perform but the festival staff thought he'd just lipsync cuz he was sick, they had his backing audio so loud you couldn't hear him all song until his big high note in the bridge, when they cut it but also didn't turn his mic on, AND YOU CAN STILL HEAR HIM LIKE BOI WAS SINGING WITH HIS WHOLE SOUL
Beautiful! My favorite moment will always be Kihyun singing the "Lost In The Dream" highnote from MX's comeback showcase. I didn't know anything about MX back than and just randomly found that clip. But that moment I knew, I was going to stan that group and his man would be my bias and favorite voice of all time.
I also love Jooheon's and I.M's "SAMBAKLA" live stage.
i love all of the moments mentioned in this video but the vocals with no backtrack or instrumental moment of fine by taeyeon actually breaks me each time i hear it

The Sistar one 😭 I AM a fan of the ones that are still impressive for the circumstances. My fav example is probably when Yoohyeon in one of Dreamcatcher's Bon Voyage encore performances (i think for show champ) just completely improvises a key change despite holding back tears.

It might be recency bias but I'm right after The Rose concert and the way they slapped me across the face with their vocals is an unforgetable experience. Woosung and Dojoon popped of with the highnotes.

I have two: the Mayfly performance of Love Poem in Kingdom, particularly Eunkwang at the end; Seungsik of Victon doing the See You Again cover in concert, especially that a capella part and the ending.
That Mic Drop moment I just aggressively mouthed the words he didn’t sing on the couch. 🤣🤣 I wasn’t a fan yet, just a passive listener not into all the drama, but in my extensive research since I’ve been an Army, that moment is sO iconic and I’m so proud of Yoongi for it 🥹💜😂

One moment that I think doesn't get talked about enough (prolly because of the decade of time since it has happened) is the Leo (Vixx), Eunkwang (BToB), Daehyun (BAP) and Youngjae (Got7) collab cover of Mirotic for the 2014 Hallyu Dream Concert. The adlibs at the end!!! 😲😮😮
the iconic ones that come to mind for me are Hweseung covering that queen song, Ailee and Youngji’s immortal songs bang bang performance, and pretty much any Mamamoo immortal songs performance. Also, Lucy!!! pretty much any Lucy performance.
I don’t necessarily think you’re looking for these, but in terms of music show performances - ONF’s Love Effect (and their recent immortal songs performance) on inkigayo in green outfits. &Team on Music Bank during Firework era where you can hear Jo singing during a stunt. I think they’re wearing blue blazers. there’s a pretty epic Rolling Quartz mcountdown performance from Blaze era where Jayoung is demolishing the vocals.

Not all kpop idols are not good singers but unfortunately most (if not almost all) kpop songs do not showcase their talents. Kpop is more about the overall performance than musicality. So some idols get ridiculous hate (not that any kind of hate is justifiable. If you think someone can not sing to your expectations, simply stop listening to them. If they are truly lacking talent and people stop listening, they won't survive. You don't have to mess with people's psyche. The world is difficult enough as it is). That's why sometimes covers become more popular than their own songs.

If you're still looking for candidates for future parts to this, I HIGHLY recommend including my favourite silly but impressive SHINee live performance of Like A Fire. Them not taking things too seriously throughout, only having easy choreo during the chorus of the song and playing around on stage... but then suddenly you get the sheer vocal skills showcased especially at the last minute with the bridge and around when Onew and Jonghyun are singing "baby baby baby baby" at each other and then key out-of-nowhere (literally this part isn't in the original mp3 version, as if he just did it unprompted lol) does that AMAZING high note and goes back to dancing as if nothing happened haha!! It's sooo funny and good!

oh my god yes not to be too boomer but i miss old immortal songs and sketchbook so much. every mamamoo immortal songs stage is pure gold and snsd tts cater 2 u on sketchbook slays fr. i feel like award show live singing also used to go so much harder, like niche but shinee sherlock at kmf 2012 is insane. not to say that new gen stuff isn't good, i love stuff like leemujin service, award shows are still fun, and concert footage is always great, but damn i miss the old stuff
