No one would ever have a clue how much this song helped me, to who I am today. This song was my fortification wall from going into depression during my teens. World around me constantly reminded me I was hopeless. Every morning and night I used to play this cassette before stepping out of my home going for my battles of life (I wanted to escape from them, but the song reminded me 'leap by faith'). I used to listen to this song two or three times - then pray and remind myself of the scriptures and walk out singing this song, and enter the battle for that day. One by one I started winning my battles, in a matter of weeks things started chaing and in 3-4 years tables shifted! I got stronger in my weaker sides, and together with my already stronger sides, life took a new lift - the world around me started to see a new blend, a set of skills and people they hardly get to see. Yes! God turned out a beauty out of me! HE encouraged me through this song and formed me so much that - today in a crowd it is easy for me to pick the 'smiling depressed' person, to relate with them, and to be with them in their journey, I have no regrets in life till date - I only have exciting stories of very kind, I thank God for all the hurts I had in my life, for the insults, the demeaning words showered, for the oppurtunities taken away and for all doors that I loved that got closed - for all them shaped me (Beyond Belief !) and when I get to see the people who constantly used to remind me how hopeless I was - I happily smile inside & Praise Him ! Sometimes I Dance inside of me and headbang !! : ) I want to encourage you that all these and more are possible for you as well !! : ) Today, the best thing I enjoy waking up every morning is to take up one of those risky professional, personal, and community projects that professionals before me had said as "hopeless" / impossible and to turn it around and to receive a few calls from former colleagues on how to sort messed up things! - not easy . . . but Beyond Belief ! (only with HIM, only by Grace) & . . . No Doubt !! : )
How do you pick one Christian band and call it the best? I don't think I could ever pick one band to be the best. Petra is certainly a great band that has been around for nearly 50 years and has released many fantastic albums. Keep up the good work guys! 👍
Petra means rock and thats what this band has stood on all these year The Solid Rock of Jesus!! More power to you Petra!!! God Bless you will always be my fav.
One of my favourite Gospel song ever!! I never get bored listening to this song, God bless Sir. John schliltt and PETRA,, here I am from Garo hills, Meghalaya, India
25 yrs on and still on the Journey where Faith takes us, from Glory to Glory. first Christian Rock song I ever heard . watching in 2017. even so come quickly Lord Jesus.
The first time I heard this song was in 1990 at one of my low points in life. it was after a Petra Concert in Montgomery, AL. I'd gotten off work too late to make the beginning of the concert. The fellow at the door gave me a paid for unclaimed ticket. I used the money for m ticket to by the tape of "Beyond Belief." I popped it in on the drive home after the concert. By the second verse I had pulled off the road crying like a baby. This song has encouraged me so many times in the years since.
Amazing music video by Petra! I remember as a kid, my dad had this entire movie on VHS. Petra was an amazing Christian Rock band and impacted so many lives!
I was BLESSED to see Petra live three times. (Nowhere near enough!!) As someone who has seen just about everyone that is considered ANYONE, I can confirm that they absolutely ROCKED!! Musically, they're consummate professionals and more than able to hold their own. Schlitt's vocals are possibly the best live vocal I've heard. Certainly in the top five. K

When I was first introduced to Petra in 2019, I had no idea that they or other Christian rock bands existed in the 70's and 80's. They are awesome, especially Petra. Far deeper and more meaningful music than much of today's. And so much scripture within the lyrics. A 30 year old feeling like he's an 80's man!
Listened to this growing up- listening to it now after years, and oh!! the good feelings and blessed memories all came back!! Epic song!! Truely timeless!❤
When I was in Middle School in the 90s my mother bought me my first CD player and my first CD was one that I didn't really care for which I didn't listen to very much but mom went out and bought me a Petra album (Wake Up Call) and I never looked back because I love Petra and always have.

Mr. Hartman really looked like an auto mechanic !! My Dad was a mechanic so that part really hits home with me. My Dad passed away some time ago. Petra's lyrics are amazing.
Freaking Petra, still rocking out 9 years later haha, love how he left my boy that helped him stranded out in the middle of nowhere after he helped him haha
Petra; the band that carried troubled youth in the 1990's from destructive lyrics that came from death metal, heavy metal and punk rock. I wasn't nearly as troubled of a youth than some I've seen hit rock bottom, but I did get heavily into punk rock and heavy metal music and tried marijuana several times. I was heading down a dark path until I discovered an alternative group "Petra" that was music I can still enjoy, just without the wicked negative lyrics other bands used. I really enjoyed listening to Petra for quite some time; you can understand the lyrics, they were clear and represent a positive uplifting message. Some of the lyrics are a bit cheesy but the quality of their harmonizing and band sound makes up for it.
I listen to heavy metal, thrash metal and death metal all the time and have been doing so for the last 24 years. Never once affected me negatively, if anything it made me my own person and taught me both self respect and to respect others. I went to college, hold an advanced degree and have strong friendships in my life thus I never went down a destructive path because of metal music nor did I ever experiment with drugs and I don't drink or smoke at any time. Sorry mate but that doesn't flow. But I do love Petra and their message. Oh...and by the way, a lot of heavy metal spreads positive and uplifting messages.
@@vinaymulukutla358 you're in your own world. Music is powerful, whether you choose to listen to the lyrics or not. You just blocked it out and/or you're not sensitive to destructive lyrics and behavior, because you block it out/got disensitized to the lyrics or you just weren't born with higher self awareness/emotional IQ or never were exposed to more emotionally/spiritually charged treatment, behavior and atmosphere. Claiming that music with destructive lyrics taught you how to respect yourself and others, is more than likely out of demand and fear, not out of patience and love. Telling others that their statements don't flow, just because you can't relate to it, speak volumes on how you're not sensitive to other people's experiences and choose not to be wary of other's experience and point of view. Your own personal experience does not speak for the majority.
@@3DEditor Lord Have Mercy. I don't even know where to start...... You should take a Gold Medal in the Gaslighting Award of the Year! Or the Century. You are really talking absolute rubbish. You claim that I am blocking things out and lack sensitivity for destructive lyrics yet here you are denouncing an entire genre of music that is known for it's sheer diversity and for it's multi-faceted applications as being destructive and a reason for your dark path? Look who's talking! You clearly have no clue about the metal genre as a whole nor did you ever have any real interest in it. If you had ever explored it as a whole beyond what you experienced of it, you would have found that the vast majority of it actually spreads great messages of strength, self-empowerment, hope, optimism, truth, being respectful to others and having great times and that metalheads are actually very peaceful, smart, creative, respectful and optimistic. Goodness Gracious Me...The stench of hypocrisy reeks pungent here. But it seems you probably just listened to some of it with negative lyrics and have based your entire perception of it on that thus it seems you're insensitive to the potential of the vast majority of metal music being very strong and positive that has affected it's followers accordingly. And yeah...metal does highlight the harsh realities of life because life is difficult and all is not okay with the world. Those themes are so relatable to people who are going through struggles and difficulties so metal gives them an outlet to channel their emotions healthily and make changes for the better. It would also be counterproductive for metal groups to encourage their followers to lead self-destructive lifestyles etc, if they did that, how would they sell records and be able to tour? Metal groups and artists in general want to get fans, not lose them. Nice try to say that I got into metal (that you deem as destructive etc, such an unfounded claim) out of fear or demand or whatever instead of actually acknowledging the legitimacy of my discovery of it and how it went on to inspire me in life and become my creative outlet. What do I have to fear? I was raised in a supportive and highly educated family. That proves to me that you are ever more misinformed about it. But okay, fine, you keep on believing that. I am very much in touch with the truth behind that. So I'm lacking in higher self-awareness and emotional awareness? How...for knowing an area of music extremely well complete with first hand experience of it over nearly two and a half decades around the world and coming out with a polar opposite experience and telling you that there is so much more to it than what you have stated? The fact that you're placing the blame on certain forms of music as the reason for you to go down a dark path and your shortcomings demonstrates to me misgivings on your part to take accountability and responsibility for the real reasons behind those. Music alone doesn't make people do anything or go down certain paths, there are other forces at work to factor in. You tell me where the self-awareness and the emotional intelligence is in that? I don't know about you but I know that I speak for the vast majority of metalheads around the world whose lives have been enriched by metal music in what I have experienced as my years involved in this subculture. Good Day.

Far deeper and more meaningful music than much of today's. And so much scripture within the lyrics. A 30 year old feeling like he's an 80's man!
Brings back awesome memories!
Heart meltiing, heavenly, hope filled song. Nothing less than love for this! ❤❤❤
Listened to this growing up- listening to it now after years, and oh!! the good feelings and blessed memories all came back!! Epic song!! Truely timeless!❤

We're content to pitch our tent
When the glory's evident
Seldom do we know
The glory came and went
Moving can seem dangerous
In this stranger's pilgrimage
Knowing that you can't stand still
You cross the bridge
There's a higher place to go
Beyond belief, beyond belief
Where we reach the next plateau
Beyond belief, beyond belief
And from faith to faith we grow
Towards the center of the flow
Where He beckons us to go
Beyond belief, beyond belief
Leap of faith without a net
Makes us want to hitch our bed
Waters never part
Until our feet get wet, whoa
There's a deeper place to go
Where the road seems hard to hoe
He who has begun this work
Won't let it go (let it go!)
There's a higher place to go
Beyond belief, beyond belief
Where we reach the next plateau
Beyond belief, beyond belief
And from faith to faith we grow
Towards the center of the flow
Where He beckons us to go
Beyond belief, beyond belief
And it takes so long to see the change
But we look around, and it seems so strange
We have come so far, but the journey's long
And we once were weak, but now we are strong
🎶 🎵 🎶 🎵
There's a higher place to go
Beyond belief, beyond belief
Where we reach the next plateau
Beyond belief, beyond belief
And from faith to faith we grow
Towards the center of the flow
Where He beckons us to go
Beyond belief, beyond belief
Just remembered Petra and the past years and here I am , Listening to this wonderful blessed rock song . I want the people of our Generation to listen to this song too
Mr. Hartman really looked like an auto mechanic !! My Dad was a mechanic so that part really hits home with me. My Dad passed away some time ago. Petra's lyrics are amazing.
im so glad im discovering this band! never too late to find a gem!
Freaking Petra, still rocking out 9 years later haha, love how he left my boy that helped him stranded out in the middle of nowhere after he helped him haha
GM to the rescue...
Good Day.
Once you believe in Christ as Saviour, there's no turning back. Sinners prayer is life changing
Petra awesome blessed group!
