As for the Eagle's Nest I'd been wanting to go here for a few years. This was an amazing few hours out and the weather sure helped. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. Hi Paul. This is a very interesting video to learn about Hitler's historical background behind this beautiful scenery. The tunnels and cannon ruins make us imagine what World War II was like back then, but the view from the observation deck is breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing wonderful Eagle's nest history ! 😊👍

Ive always wanted to go too, sadly when we were there it was closed due to pandemic restrictions. Ah it happened to you too! Cracking bus ride up. Heated marble tunnel, very classy. Reversing down that tunnel? Would not like that job! That elevator oozes class. What an incredible spot, those are by very definition world class views from every viewpoint. Quite the popular attraction and you can understand why. Think I got an iPad for my 50th, id have preferred an Alpine retreat! Eva’s tea room is lovely. Look at the size of that marble fireplace, that would be spectacular when lit! A beer in the Eagles Nest 🍻

In Berchtesgaden this was the one place I wanted to get to. I'm not a very excitable person so that says a lot. It was an awesome trip on a perfect weather day. It wasn't hermit friendly but I could put up with that for those immense views. And I didn't think you was over 50 🙂 It was a pretty cool Alpine retreat that I'm now glad survived so it can at least be enjoyed for better reasons. Oh and when in Germany a beer has to be done. What a place to supp one. I'm glad you enjoyed the capture and I hope my narration is still up to it. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul

@@TheHikingHermit 🙏 Paul, absolutely world class, you survived the crowds so maybe we don’t have to, but this is still a place I’ve always wanted to visit my entire life. It’s a chance of understanding one of the greatest and most corrupt and unforgivable times in history. Think ive spent the last thirty years trying to understand Adolf’s motivations. You understand his art, his passion, his music and his clothing and you really want to grasp his vision. I would love to stand in the Eagles Nest and still be as clueless as to what formed this formidable monster as we do now.
I’m guessing in another fifty years we will all be having tours of Putins Kremlin?

@@GENerationXplorers I think to understand someones mind you have to be able to think like them. If you can't think the unthinkable or should I say comprehend it then you will never understand. You know Paul watching and listening to you speak it and then going back again just makes me wonder how easy it is for people to be hypnotized by evil but in the same breath they can be overtaken by beauty...sometimes it really makes me think, and makes me want to try harder to be better and better...because I sometimes wonder if even a small injustice can make someone turn into someone evil if they are not wrapped too tight already...I really do appreciate this eye opening tour today of the good, the bad and the ugly...but mostly the beauty of what a hermit can bring to someone all the way to Hollywood from a far away place in Germany...have a wonderful week! Thanks for the adventure!

Hi Donna, it did make me used to wonder the same thing and then when covid hit I realised just how easy it is to hypnotise the people. I went to this place mainly for the awesome mountain views which I certainly got. I spent most of the time on the mountain taking in those views but did enjoy the walk around the house. There'll be lots more awesome views in the coming weeks. I have a lot up my sleeve. I was just waiting for that Christmas nonsense to be over 😂Thank you very much for watching. Hi John, I'm really glad you enjoyed the captured views from the Eagle's Nest and the glorious weather certainly helped with that. My camera is a GoPro 11 and I film in 4k. The mountain views sure were fabulous. Hitler didn't visit the Eagle's Nest much but preferred to be down in the valley near the Berghof. There are very few remains left of that. I do like to add some extra narration when I feel it's warranted such as here and I'm pleased you enjoyed the addition. Thank you very much for watching and dropping me a lovely comment. Hello Paul, The views here are just amazing! What a gift to have it be such a beautiful day.
I appreciate how you added in its history, I imagine what he saw when looking at those views is not what most others see. Narcissism doesn't allow one to see past themselves. Therefore, the beauty and views are wasted on such individuals. I'm glad that it is open to the public so that individuals who appreciate such beauty can take it in and enjoy all it has to offer.

What can I say Paul, this was absolutely amazing. The views were out of this world. Imagine walking through history. It would have lost on those young kids, but to think that Hitler had walked these corridors and looked out at these views. It is definitely on my bucket list now. But in those 14 visits, one wonders what pivotal decisions were made. He was a nasty man, that goes without saying, but those walls and corridors have seen some history and could tell some stories. Were none of the bedrooms open at all? It would have been nice if they had one room as a museum, like the radio room. Not to glorify it, but to show a bit of history as it was, if that makes sense. Thank you so, so much for sharing this piece of history. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I watch every video but don't always comment. This was a place I'm glad that the RAF couldn't find. I know why they tried, but I'm glad with hindsight that they didn't. If they had, then you would be visiting ruins. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Paul, it's an absolutely amazing video.

Hi Chris, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I sure enjoyed visiting and the views were just unreal. I couldn't have picked a better weather day for it. You should definitely visit some day if you can and the Berchtesgaden National Park that it's in is just spectacular. It seemed a bit surreal walking the same tunnels and places that notorious people had walked. The RAF blitzed the Berghof, which was located down at the bottom of the mountain instead. It was a bigger target and a place where Hitler spent most of his time when in the area. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week 👍🙂Paul

Free bus! Wunderbar! Discount with the card's always good too 👍 very scenic route up to the Nest! That tunnel is a bit of a suitably ominous looking start. Elevator was ornate. Great views there at the top 😍 is that edelweiss on the cross? Good idea to get away from the crowds a bit, great views out the back. Nice to have a beer at the end of the day. Looked like some experience that, history and views combined!

Hi Matt, well I say free bus you pay just over 3 euros a day tourist tax but having a card is more convenient than fumbling for change and probably cheaper. The Eagle's Nest is pretty historic but the views are unparalleled especially on the great weather day when I visited. I do like the summit crosses and the Edelweiess was a nice touch. Always good to get away from the crowds for a bit and when in Germany you have to sup some beer. Thanks for watching 👍Paul

I sure got really lucky with the weather too. All the places I visited in the Berchtesgaden area were awesome but the one for me that was the best was the boat cruise down Konigssee lake to Salat and the walk around Obersee Lake. The views just blew me away. I'd highly recommend doing that for one of your days. I'd advise getting there early to beat the queues so you have more time enjoying the breathtaking scenery 🙂

Not too Hermit friendly at the bus station 😂 Worth it though beautiful weather views and scenery from the start . Long tunnel to the elevator. Cool viewpoint awesome views for miles, not a cloud in the sky. That gun placement was a good find . So many good viewpoints nicely done escaping the crowds. Nice house, too, with the sun terrace. we'll deserved beer 🍺 Cool bit of history to visit and explore Hermit. Thanks for taking us along with you 👍

    Just absolutely amazing Paul.
An incredible place. As a kid I learned all about this place and the Nazis. It makes you blood run cold to think that Hitler made crucial decisions there.
I’ve always wanted to visit - it’s always been one of my must visit places.
And we have the perfect opportunity later this year.
But lately and now that I can, I’m not sure I want to go there.
This vid was brilliant mate ,showed it off to perfection. It feels watching this , that I’ve been there.
But despite all this, it just feels wrong somehow. Maybe they should have obliterated it like the Berlin bunker.
Loved the visit Paul, and I think we will defo visit Berchesgarten but probably give this place a miss.

The Berghof below the mountain where Hitler spent around 25% of his time between there and Berlin was obliterated. I believe there are now few signs it ever existed. Hi, Paul,
Now I know why you risk yourself and get into the crowds to the iconic destination, 'Eagle's Nest" in Germany.
Not only just history but this spectacular view from the top. You must have a great satisfaction for this trip, especial the pandemic caused to held you back for a longer wait. Some tips such changing the bus schedule on return in the film are very helpful to PPL who plan on your steps.
I like unique rock formations 17:27 I wonder they are naturally exposed like they are or from blast.
    hahah, It is selfie-spot 16:49 I reckon.
Can you imagine "Hitler" enjoy this view as you did? 19:02, 23:20, 24:54 I don't recall he was a hiker or hunter though. I guess he enjoy secluded life whether he had fears from assassin or not. I often read he had some health issue. Who knows..
I may have seen this "Eagle's Nest" in books and some documentary films. He was with Eva Braun living or vacationing.
Sublime Documentary film! I would love to see more projects like this in your future films.
Thank you so much for sharing your lifetime-experience. love love bestie...

Hi Ms Kayak, this was a tour I had wanted to do for a few years. I wasn't happy when all my trips were cancelled in 2020. Then again I wasn't vlogging then so now I have something to look back on, which is the reason I started my channel. I'm comfortable in crowds but I just prefer there not to be crowds of people. I'm not sure how those rock formations were formed. I don't think the mountain got hit with any bombs in WW2. Hitler only visited the Eagle's Nest on 14 documented occasions but it's a bit surreal that I've walked the very same rooms as him. Hitler liked to be down in the valleys and his house, the Berghof was bombed and now there is very little remaining of it. Eva Braun was his girlfriend and later on wife. I'm told I have a good documentary voice so it's good to put some of that in when interesting plus I would like to do more videos on a similar vein. Having said that although this video is getting pretty good retention, like the whole video is above average retention by some margin, YT is still not pushing it all at the moment. I'm not sure what I have to do for YT to push my videos! Anyway I will keep plugging away. If this was a short comment then I wonder how long the long messages was? Maybe YT has a limit on comment length? Thank you so much for taking time to watch. Have a great weekend 🙂👍Paul
