Having my daughter watch this video tonight when she gets home! She just got her back handspring but definitely could use these helpful tips to make it even better!
I was watching and hoping they would talk about straightening your legs... no such luck. My coach says I look like a frog when I do my back handsprings.
I still don't have it because I'm afraid if I try it on solid ground, my arms will buckle and I'll come down on my head. Can only do it on a trampoline...😕
I’m about to be 25 and just got back into cheer and joined an adult team thank you for the tips helping me remember everything and get back into it thank you for your help girls!!! Keep making videos please
I really loved this video! I wish I had this when I was learning my back handspring, it would have helped so much. I need the most improvement on my front handspring, I always land kind of sideways so if you could make a video tutorial about this that would be awesome! Keep on making great videos 💕
My guess is that you either aren't tight enough in your hips and they keep turning places they aren't supposed to...or you just don't keep your arms parallel, so you don't take them off the ground at the same time but one after the other. That often happens when you think you have not enough speed/power to make the front handspring. Sometimes it's just in your mind, sometimes it really isn't enough power (then you should do some drills that help you with the speed of your feet or the push that you give with your shoulders). I'm hoping you can understand what I'm trying to describe, because when typing it's really difficult and English isn't my mother tongue 😅😶
I know this is a year later, but how’s your front hand spring doing? And I will suggest thinking about taking your hands off the floor at the same time. Like think it really hard in your mind when you are about to do it.
Your backhand spring will be a lot easier to do without getting scared if you break it down into steps so lean, sit, push, snap. Also for your back hand springs being short really focus on pushing through your toes and lifting up your hips
20 year coach. Great video! A suggestion or clarification regarding #4-double bouncing. I agree feet should not leave the floor in the back swing/ prep. The arms should swing back slightly out and back then forward into the jump in an elliptical motion never stopping completely at the back. Weight should be on the toes at the peak of the back swing before jumping. Athletes double jump many times because they have not learned to circle the arms slightly. In the transition from back to front, they accentuate the peak of the back swing. The shifting of weight in doing the double jump is important, but should be lessoned and accompanied with a circling of the arms so there is no pause. It may look like a simple squat 1 jump 2 but there is a lot more going on. Hope this helps!
THank you so much for making this! I teach acro and I have a number of girls struggling with these things. We are working on all of these common mistakes but I know it helps them to see social media influencers doing a video like this. So...THANK YOU!
Hi,I have a problem with my back handspring I don't know if i am afraid to go back but I am going sideways so one of my shoulder is going back before the other one, how do I fix this? 🤔
try spotting directly behind you! I had this problem because I turned my head to one side when going backwards which made me go sideways, so try to look straight back! Good luck :) you got this !!
Hey i just broke the habit of doing something similar! This may not be what you’re doing but to anyone else reading... my problem was one of my legs was stronger than the other so i would push with that one more, making my bhs go to my weaker side, so just make sure you’re pushing equally with both
U guys r so helpful like I’ve been doing my back trucks but for some reason today they weren’t as consistent like AT ALL and so I watched ur vid and now I’m watching this one bcs I also want my backhandspring to be better as well!!
I love your guys youtube channel!!💗 I watch you guys all the time! These videos really do help me because i want to go out for cheer! You guys used to coach me at jacobs gymnastics!
Hi tc2! I absolutely loved this video because I just got my back handspring and lots of these tips applied to me! I am a dancer but I would love for you to do an aerial tip video on how to sway your arms back (one in front and one behind), instead of cutting through "chicken wings" as my teacher would call it and also how to pointe your feet and land softer during the aerial. You inspire me so thanks a lot for teaching me these new tips!
This really helped my back handspring. But if you could do a video like this but for a front handspring or front walkover. That would be nice cause I always land a little sideways❤🎀.
I need Improvement on my front flip u guys are awesome and I love your channel you are so funny and seem so nice thanks for your help on my other gymnastics or cheer tricks
Literally, I have been Binge-Watching The TC2 and wondering "why don't they have more subscribers?" Like seriously though! Anyways, I love you guys! Ya'll is one of my most favorite channels!!
Video on side aerial tips?? Have had mine for years, and am working it on beam, but my legs cut around the side and I always fall. Love you guys so much!❤️
For lengthening the short handsprings, I use tape on the mat. Same principle as using objects, but the athlete can put their hands and feet directly onto the tape, instead of having their goal markers next to them. It’s just a bit more tangible for them.
Great tips, the mistakes were so recognizable and I could relate to all of them !!! Love you guys!!! I would need some tips for my standing back tuck!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing the awesome tips ❤️ my daughter has been struggling mastering her backhand spring she is 6 right now she constantly sitting too much and folding her arms. She has it down on a trampoline but when it comes to the mat or floor 🤷🤦
My biggest problem in my back handsprings have always been throwing head back, short bsck handspring, bending arms, feet apart so I’m going to be using all these hacks to help my back handspring !☺️
In your guy’s we stretched our splits for a week I didn’t follow along with the week but I use to not be able the do my left side split now I can thank u so much
thank you this is really helpful i’m a platinum gymnast and competed a backhand spring on beam and got it in one day and my competition was in 2 days and we didn’t have practice the day before competition. And after competition I wasn’t scared to do my back handspring and the day after that I got scared to do it and it’s been a week and I compete next saturday and I have a block can you help me to get through a block?
Tysm this helped a lot I just learned my back handspring and I’ve been having trouble with keeping my legs together and I’m double bouncing this helped so much and because of this vid I don’t do it anymore tysm
What is the verdict on closed vs open shoulders going into the handspring? Open was the more common way it was taught, but more and more, I’m seeing it be taught with closed shoulders going in, then opening up as you push off, which is supposed to give more power.
Having my daughter watch this video tonight when she gets home! She just got her back handspring but definitely could use these helpful tips to make it even better!
i just got my back handspring as well and this helped a lot!
Omg same #justgotmybhssquad!

Siobhan Gallagher I’ve had this problem, try having a spot, first try it IN to the foam pit. then try doing it on the trampoline with a spot
