Mugen (stylized as M.U.G.E.N) is a freeware 2D fighting game engine designed by Elecbyte. Content is created by the community, and thousands of fighters, both original and from popular fiction, have been created. It is written in C and originally used the Allegro library.

I'm commenting as a Japanese person. I remember the excitement when Street Fighter II was released in 1991. It would be amazing if an edition like this were actually released. The original Street Fighter II only had eight characters; even the Four Kings weren’t selectable. It's great that the number of characters has increased, providing more options.🙂

I didn't know mugen ever stopped being popular. I guess it has more competition now. It still rocks.
It would've been more interesting to have the difficulty up a bit more or the bots weren't even using special attacks..

I'm glad everyone has enjoyed my Mecha Zangief creation. You know, Zangief always came off as a stiff, semi robotic character in the original SF 2, but with harnessing the power of THE MUGEN, I feel I was able to finally humanize him a bit here and give him a more human relatable form.

Amazing roster and creativity. Surely a lot of time and hardworking went into it. Imagine if it had been release earlier like some 20/30 years ago. Haha. Great work by development/ modding team.

Game looks great but the only complaint is the damage counter is similar with every hit & with all the characters. It be more fun if damage differentiate among diff players & moves especially with fireballs & specials.
