very nice video, I really appreciate. One question about this software ability. Is it possible to get the entire log alarm from DVR to iVMS-4200? Then I'd like to search different type of alarms to see the exact event. The best way should be to double click on alarm event time from list and to have the video recorded at that time. Thank you.
@@DVSLTD first of all it is not working, when I export it is just a csv file with my devices having parameters. No alarm. On the other hand I don't need export of alarms, but I need to list and filter them by criteria and to localize very easy some footage by double clicking the image. This is very useful function and I can't find it into so sophisticate and nice software.

Thanks for the lovely comment, we only support the video wall now in the older model of 4200 which is limited with what it can do , we do have a stand-alone version of 4200 video wall software which is still popular but it doesn’t allow all 4200 functions just video wall control , we advise HIK-Central to be used if you need full control , I can look at doing a 4200 video wall control video

Hey there, love your videos. I see you mention that you'd rather use VCA triggers over typical motion detection for recording on these systems. Do you have other videos that go over your typical VCA recording set-up? Another question is about remote access. You mentioned you use port forwarding. Do you typically do any kind of VLAN or VPN set-up on the clients side of the network to isolate the system from their network? Or is the NVR password protection enough? Keep up the good work!
thanks for the kind words, it really depends on the client and application , some cant have port forward setup and need to use VPN as its more secure and much easier in reality , regards the VCA we do have other videos but don’t have a specific VCA video stand alone

Hi, how do I keep the camera I'm watching in Live view? I want to monitor the cameras 24/7 , I can only watch it live for a few minutes before each camera view goes grey with a play button displayed. Im sure its operator error but just not sure how to do this
I can't seem to get the cameras to show in the main view. If I go into maintenance and management under device I can see my NVR box listed. It says its online as well. This is on a second laptop computer. On my other PC I can see all six cameras when I go to main view. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
can you do this , go to the device maintaince section, then on the left select the group sub tab ,under there can you check the device is added ,If not select add group by device name and then add the device in

Hi Rrick and thanks, if you go to device management and then remote configuration option ( cog icon ) and select basic , it should take you to the web page of the device where you can set each VCA rule as needed direct to the NVR / DVR which is better in that we are more compatible this way , I hope this helps

most people who aren't using this for their businesses would probably like a basic tutorial about how to get motion detected videos sent to their emails, etc. Can you do one, or do you already have one made for this? Not everyone is tech savvy these days, and would like an easy step through for this type of usage. Or is there some other software you would recommend that isn't so robust? Oh, also, one of my cameras is a ptz and I can't seem to see that camera from the internet, even if I replace my internal 192 ip address with the actual external ip. The other camera works fine if I use the external ip. Thanks again.
Can you live stream camera feeds from Hybrid SAN? As far as I understand, Hybrid SAN can record camera feeds without needs additional equipment. This is good architecture because Hybrid SAN located in the rack securly. But I'm not sure Can iVMS-4200 can stream from Hybrid SAN? Can I assume this will be same as demostrated in this video?

One question...We have this NVR DS-7608NI-K2 / 8P with certain cameras paired to it, and we're using the iVMS 4200 when we want to create an event selecting the cameras that are on the NVR, we didn't get any results, but if we attach the camera separately to the iVMS we can get the event alerts. I want to automatically and periodically download all footage for storage in my PC and so that playback in IVMS can play locally on request rather than through the internet which is laggy. Hi Dave. Does this make sense? I can see your video, and your voice audio is synched to the clicking you're doing on the software. But the insert video's got a horrid lip-sync issue. It can't be my Chrome browser, because, again, the actions of the GUI are in synch to what you're saying!

we recommended always the DVR / NVR for record but you can install the storage server on 4200 during install of 4200 software and point it to the local PC , but its not as reliable

Can you please ask Hikvision to enable copy and pasting of usernames and passwords in their software? It's so frustrating not being able to copy and paste long secure passwords from a password manager. It's against best security practices to disable this functionality.

Hi , and thanks for this , we can use HIK-Central to achieve this , we can view more than 64 on the latest 4200 , but it will really impact the PC performance have you tried the latest 4200 ? it can support 64 cams on 1 screen , so you would need 2 screens
Hi Dave, great videos. Very detailed which I like. I have 2 HK cams and looking at getting the gen 2 intercom with a keypad for our office/workshop to run via the IVMS 4200. I want to use the intercom for access control with a door strike attached. Wanted to know if it is possible to set a pin code for the cleaners that only come once a week. Ideally it could be set up in a way that their pin only works on the cleaning days in a say 2 hour window. Is this possible? Thanks and keep it up.
Hi and thanks for the feedback , from the unit currently the pin is always active , I have asked for timed pins and also timed unlock schedules for free access , I will chase it now , for now you would have to change the pin or accept its active sorry :~(
Hello and thank you for this video ! Why is it not possible with IVMS-4200 v3.6.0.6 to connect with a web browser on remote computers like HikCentral does ? IVMS uses Nginx but it seems totally blocked. If we do not want to register the devices on the HiKvision portal, it is impossible to view the cameras on several computers because access by a web browser falls on a blank page with an error (IPadress: port) and the IVMS client launches the server no matter what, it's not a real client to connect to a server. Can you tell me more ?
Nice video but i have one question that i have encountered. I have Hikvision NVR Hikvision DS-7932NI. It has 16POE Channels and other must be connected using poe swich. Once 17+ Camera connected to NVR iš show as intended but on Ivms4200 side it only show that there are 17 in total but for some reason it lets only 16 Cameras to load on the system. Do other Cameras need to be aded separately or os there some option that i am missibg. T.y. in advance.
I find IVMS to be extremely cpu heavy killing most PCs to a crawl. Do you have any tips for optimizating IVMS performance? What is your recommended PC specs?
if you login to the camera interface and then go to the image sub menu , in there you can change it to auto or scheduled etc , it may be stuck on night mode 😊

list of my equipment : 3 x 256ch NVR's - 1 x 32ch nvr. total of 505 cams of whitch is 70 ptz's. 7 x pc's with IVMS4200.if pc's are rebooted or software is opened, cams take up to 20min to load before live view is available. i am concerned that pc's lan port receives more data than what it can handle. Any ideas ?
NVR does not show up in search. Have tried to add manually, but shows offline. I am on the same network, attached to the same router, by wire. My previous NVR would show on my network page. All I had to do was login.
Hi seal , the spec will depend on the system requirements, you can use a i3 machine but the amount of cameras at a higher Res will be reduced , if you want the best performance and expect to do a lot with the software then i7 , 8/16GB Ram , dedicated Graphics card,

I want to use the HikCentral can I build a purpose build Workstation computer with highend graphics cards to setup the video wall or do I need at the Hikvision DS-6908udi decoder. Where can I purchase the 64ch Software Licenses for HikCentral. ivms-4200 is too unstable.
Hi , HIK-Central has 2 options for the video wall , you can use the smart wall license and hardware decoder like the DS-69UDI range, or we now also do a client video wall license which is cheaper but tries to give the similar control to the client as if using a decoder, I prefer the decoder as its more powerful but its possible either way , if you choose the decoder option you can add multiple decoders to the system and manage them from the client with the smart wall license, and the PC can still run up to 4 screens as long as the spec is meet , regards the license where are you based and I will get a contact for you 😊

My camera shows offline no matter what i do, I have tried numerous network settings, the camera is working when i view through a browser. When I go to configuration/camera management/ip camera, status is online, I used the IP address from here when setting up the camera in iVMS. Preferred DNS is the same as my router, alternate is 8.8.8.8. All the troubleshooting guides only tell me to changed those settings but still no good. Also tried DHCP and auto DNS, no joy.
@@DVSLTD Hi thanks for your reply. Under IP camera under camera management in the browser it says 8000, its also set to that in iVMS-4200. I didnt have a hikconnect account which I have now registered (I think) but still showing offline. Im getting support from the reseller, will update with the problem was when i fix it.
@@DVSLTD Ok couple of things, I was trying to add the camera not the NVR! I also didnt have hikconnect set up properly, now its all working! Thanks a lot for the tutorial im going through it now to get everything set up.
Technically you can do this and install the “storage server” element on install . but as its FOC software it can crash if you put a lot of load through it , if you do want to do this I would use a Windows based server for stability , but NVR is better

Should the H264+ option be used to compress the data and minimise HD usage? I have a new NVR setup with 2 X 4mp colorvu cameras but when playing back the motion triggered footage as people move across the screen the playback will freeze for 3 seconds and then jump forward. I am unsure if this is a steam/camera config. Issue or the NVR is not keeping up with the stream. Any help much appreciated Kind regards Danny
Hi danny , I would use H.265 rather than H.264+ , to be honest I try to avoid H.265+ and H.264+ as they can have some effect on the image and also limitation of functions, H.265 performs very well ,

How do I delete an IP Camera from the IP camera Management menu? I have many unused channels on my NVR and I can't Add any more IP cameras because NVR says I have no more room (channels) available to add more cameras. I have reinitialized , rebooted, changed out HDD on NVR and the cameras are still there. Any help will be appreciated.

i just bought hikvision cctv and dvr, installing ivms 4200 on my pc.. i can view my cctv from my pc by p2p, but when i try via ip/domain, its offline.. its not as easy as it looks tho..
actually i need help from you dave, i did the same as you shown into a video tutorial thanks but cam1 is stop at one position and others camera is viewing correctly
you have added the device but not the channels, please go into the group tab under device area , and add a group and then pick that unit that hasn’t bought the cameras in as the device group to be created, this should then resolve this issue 😊
Also... Hi, For ages now, as well as the query about the virtual draw for line crossing, every time I open the Basic settings as you do in the video, I get a box indicating a script error and nothing happens. If I open the Advanced option, the page opens briefly with all the options but then vanishes leaving just a few of the items to select.. I can send a pic of the former error if you let me know how ... Any ideas
@@dg5211 Fraid not... still waiting still have same problem.. can not use web portal for iVMS Lview .. get the old 'You need to download webcompomponests...' that doesnt work, nor any of the other solutions I have tried and, lastly, I can not use ''General' config to remote box in web partal.. get a script error and page doesnt open. The 'Advanced' option is just useless, produces 3 items none of which are of any practical use.. Cheers P

for me we use the NVIDIA 1060 or 1050 cards but something like that would be fine, I would say 4GB and above in reality

yes you can get emails from the I series NVR based on whitelist / blacklist vehicles 😊

yes you can do the analogue cameras via the DVR connection which will then be IP , but will be fine 😊

Can you please ask Hikvision to enable copy and pasting of usernames and passwords in their software? It's so frustrating not being able to copy and paste long secure passwords from a password manager. It's against best security practices to disable this functionality.
It does sometimes work if you use Control C and control V function over right click , but not always

I can only see 30 cameras max on hik...I’m told that’s the max... . So I have to uncheck the cameras I just viewed then check off the other cameras. We have 90 cameras in total.

Hi , and thanks for this , we can use HIK-Central to achieve this , we can view more than 64 on the latest 4200 , but it will really impact the PC performance have you tried the latest 4200 ? it can support 64 cams on 1 screen , so you would need 2 screens

Hi Dave, great videos. Very detailed which I like. I have 2 HK cams and looking at getting the gen 2 intercom with a keypad for our office/workshop to run via the IVMS 4200. I want to use the intercom for access control with a door strike attached. Wanted to know if it is possible to set a pin code for the cleaners that only come once a week. Ideally it could be set up in a way that their pin only works on the cleaning days in a say 2 hour window. Is this possible? Thanks and keep it up.
Hi and thanks for the feedback , from the unit currently the pin is always active , I have asked for timed pins and also timed unlock schedules for free access , I will chase it now , for now you would have to change the pin or accept its active sorry :~(

Hello and thank you for this video ! Why is it not possible with IVMS-4200 v3.6.0.6 to connect with a web browser on remote computers like HikCentral does ? IVMS uses Nginx but it seems totally blocked. If we do not want to register the devices on the HiKvision portal, it is impossible to view the cameras on several computers because access by a web browser falls on a blank page with an error (IPadress: port) and the IVMS client launches the server no matter what, it's not a real client to connect to a server. Can you tell me more ?
Nice video but i have one question that i have encountered. I have Hikvision NVR Hikvision DS-7932NI. It has 16POE Channels and other must be connected using poe swich. Once 17+ Camera connected to NVR iš show as intended but on Ivms4200 side it only show that there are 17 in total but for some reason it lets only 16 Cameras to load on the system. Do other Cameras need to be aded separately or os there some option that i am missibg. T.y. in advance.
I find IVMS to be extremely cpu heavy killing most PCs to a crawl. Do you have any tips for optimizating IVMS performance? What is your recommended PC specs?
Any method to restart camera for convert live view in color images from Night vision (b/w). B/W video is still showing in day time too.
if you login to the camera interface and then go to the image sub menu , in there you can change it to auto or scheduled etc , it may be stuck on night mode 😊
Is there a web portal? It would be nice to be able to login from a web browser while away without needing to install software/apps
The 4200 doesn’t include a web portal but each device supports web browsing yes

list of my equipment : 3 x 256ch NVR's - 1 x 32ch nvr. total of 505 cams of whitch is 70 ptz's. 7 x pc's with IVMS4200.if pc's are rebooted or software is opened, cams take up to 20min to load before live view is available. i am concerned that pc's lan port receives more data
than what it can handle. Any ideas ?

NVR does not show up in search. Have tried to add manually, but shows offline. I am on the same network, attached to the same router, by wire. My previous NVR would show on my network page. All I had to do was login.
Is there any HIkvision software for live view only of all the camera on NVR ?
not just the live view but you can set up the login privilege of the software to not allow any other function

Hi seal , the spec will depend on the system requirements, you can use a i3 machine but the amount of cameras at a higher Res will be reduced , if you want the best performance and expect to do a lot with the software then i7 , 8/16GB Ram , dedicated Graphics card,

Yes it does, up to 4 screens can run, and 64 camera per screen but that will make the PC to slow

Yes it supports ONVIF but its best to add the non HIK camera to the NVR / DVR and do it that way but it will support ONVIF

Hi , HIK-Central has 2 options for the video wall , you can use the smart wall license and hardware decoder like the DS-69UDI range, or we now also do a client video wall license which is cheaper but tries to give the similar control to the client as if using a decoder, I prefer the decoder as its more powerful but its possible either way , if you choose the decoder option you can add multiple decoders to the system and manage them from the client with the smart wall license, and the PC can still run up to 4 screens as long as the spec is meet , regards the license where are you based and I will get a contact for you 😊

there are loads, our IVMS-4200 does allow local PC recording for IP cameras but to be honest its best to use the dedicated NVR / DVR
Is it possible to have a way to save all the back up online or in a CPU thanks to the storage on server?
My camera shows offline no matter what i do, I have tried numerous network settings, the camera is working when i view through a browser. When I go to configuration/camera management/ip camera, status is online, I used the IP address from here when setting up the camera in iVMS. Preferred DNS is the same as my router, alternate is 8.8.8.8. All the troubleshooting guides only tell me to changed those settings but still no good. Also tried DHCP and auto DNS, no joy.
have you made sure the adding port is 8000 and this is same on port on the camera?
@@DVSLTD Hi thanks for your reply. Under IP camera under camera management in the browser it says 8000, its also set to that in iVMS-4200. I didnt have a hikconnect account which I have now registered (I think) but still showing offline. Im getting support from the reseller, will update with the problem was when i fix it.

Technically you can do this and install the “storage server” element on install . but as its FOC software it can crash if you put a lot of load through it , if you do want to do this I would use a Windows based server for stability , but NVR is better

Can you use iVMS to setup which cameras appear on the local live view for HDMI1 and 2 out? I know you can do that for a decoder device, but I’m stuck trying to find out how to do that for an NVR
Hi , not through IVMS-4200 but via the web interface on I series you can do it , I did a separate video on it , see if this achieves it , technically if you add the device to 4200 and in device management and remote configuration it loads the web page also

Should the H264+ option be used to compress

I have a new NVR setup with 2 X 4mp colorvu
cameras but when playing back the motion
triggered footage as people move across the
screen the playback will freeze for 3 seconds
and then jump forward.
I am unsure if this is a steam/camera config.
Issue or the NVR is not keeping up with the
stream.

Hi danny , I would use H.265 rather than H.264+ , to be honest I try to avoid H.265+ and H.264+ as they can have some effect on the image and also limitation of functions, H.265 performs very well ,

How do I delete an IP Camera from the IP camera Management menu? I have many unused channels on my NVR and I can't Add any more IP cameras because NVR says I have no more room (channels) available to add more cameras. I have reinitialized , rebooted, changed out HDD on NVR and the cameras are still there. Any help will be appreciated.

The storage server needs to be installed and configured in that case

you have added the device but not the channels, please go into the group tab under device area , and add a group and then pick that unit that hasn’t bought the cameras in as the device group to be created, this should then resolve this issue 😊

Hi, For ages now, as well as the query about the virtual draw for
line crossing, every time I open the Basic settings as you do in the video,
I get a box indicating a script error and nothing happens. If I open the
Advanced option, the page opens briefly with all the options but then
vanishes leaving just a few of the items to select.. I can send a pic
of the former error if you let me know how ... Any ideas
are the devices added via HIKConnect or direct IP ?

@@dg5211 Fraid not... still waiting still have same problem.. can not use web portal for iVMS Lview .. get the old 'You need to download webcompomponests...' that doesnt work, nor any of the other solutions I have tried and, lastly, I can not use ''General' config to remote box in web partal.. get a script error and page doesnt open. The 'Advanced' option is just useless, produces 3 items none of which are of any practical use..
