i’ve watched this scene multiple times and am just now noticing his hand gestures of tracing his own face as he says “like someone’s face” it’s the little things that made him an incredible actor
This movie awakened my soul, I cried like a child when He found out that his mother died a short time ago, and Gus VS shows a flash of his mother dancing with him and his brothers when they were children, that went straight to the soul like a shot arrow from the screen.
All the movies he was in are Beautiful From Stand By Me to My own private Idaho he's simply an angel and we where lucky to have seen his star shine even if it was only for a short time RIP RIVER JUDE PHOENIX.
Beautiful opening. River will be always remembered and greatly missed.

Most of us didnt have cell phones when this movie was made, only cars had cell phones.
i LOVE the intro so much. the dialogue is amazing, and weird at the same time. but it's beautiful. i even remember some of it
its shakespearian
Saw Joaquin Phoenix's speech and couldn't help but watch this again.

Just something about this movie man
GEN-X
Gus Van Sant is a genius & is my favourite director. This & Drugstore Cowboy are perfect films.
Long live River and this beautiful film.
Thinking of buying it online is it worth it ?
@@breejames6323 Oh yes, you will love it, it's a modern classic.
Amazing this movie was ever made.
this soundtrack unwraps my heart
The first time I ever saw this film, I gasped when he came onto the screen. I thought he was so beautiful ❤
I've watched this opening intro so many times Ugh The music and the Cinematography is just so good
1 year later I’ve returned to watch my favourite opening
I still think of him now and then. R.I.P. young man.💔
Lay down
Try not to cry
Cry a lot
Man I cried for a whole day after watching this movie 😭😭😭😭
Such a talented guy was River!
3:19 this is one of the most important scene.
“Don’t worry. Everything’s gonna be alright.”
When i watch this movie again, my new theory is that the opening is just the sequel of the end.
I dont know im so high
River is such a handsome man 😍😍😍😍😍
The music reminds me of SpongeBob
I just spat all over my phone screen cuz of that. Thanks
Edwin B you should listen to santo and johnny!
Thank you now I can't watch this scene without that thought in my head 😂
Thanks for that, I can’t unhear that now
Maybe Stephen Hillenburg was a fan of Gus Van Sant.
Amor da minha vida River ❤ ninguém nunca será como você. Você é único
Current joys - My motorcycle
Why this is so beutiful?
The first time I saw this movie I swore it was based off a book
Iconic
I'd like to know where this road is. Perhaps in Wasco County? I see Mt Hood in the background
River Phoenix forever!
Just missed the best scene
I've never seen this or heard of it in my life. What more hell is there?
What's the name of the instrumental song? Where can I get it?
the beginning is probably perfomed by Bill Stafford but i couldn't find it for the moment. The second part is a Eddy Arnold's song it's "Cattle Call"
I wish "Gerry" and "Last Days" had been as moving and as intimate as this other one.
Cattle call!
3:14 ❤
