13:45 if you don't have a punch, just use a nail or even a screw as your hole only needs to be about 1mm as this hole keeps the drill bit from drifting or skirting around. 💖🌞🌵😷
That was great Garry and Elly 😊 I am lucky to have a short and longer handled Danish whisk set bought as a pair on special online years ago. They are currently packed up in storage for a while. But thank you so much Garry, I've never understood why the handle was long on the big one. I've favoured the short one all this time! There's nothing like someone who knows "things". No wonder Elly's dad needed her Solvol-like soap. He has a fantastic shed! Elly, I suspect you might be a chip off the paternal block - always a can-do gal like her dad. Something I learned from the small one I use most often, I deliberately pulled the two pieces of wire out of alignment, not too much, and it made mixing easier, especially if there's blueberries involved, they don't get squashed if you're mixing cake mix, pancakes or waffles, also corn for fritters or choc bits, if I'm making things for munchkins, it can all get an easy pass through the mixtures and the whisk. The soldering wire is perfectly genius because the whisks have strong wire. Elly, your dad's brush and dustpan is priceless! No point in updating if your original still works! (same with his cute Australianisms) 😄 ❤️
Ah Tosca, thank you! I'm glad you saw this. It was such a treat making this, and I think you're right, I am definitely a lot like Dad. Has taught me many things and we both like finding the efficiencies!! (actually so does Mum too). Good to hear you found your whisk more useful with a bigger gap between the wires, some good supporting data for our theory!
This has so many useful all-around tips for a home workshop, even if you don't make the whisk, it's useful for anyone who likes to make tools or repair/improve them.
That was wonderful! What a fantastic tutorial!! I've been wanting one of these whisks for some time, but have not felt like buying one. Making things yourself is so much more rewarding anyway.
Marvelous video. Thanks so much! After years and years, I only now use mineral oil for cutting boards, general wood projects. Vegetable oils tend to go rancid over time.
Oh my word - gorgeous video with your Dad - very special ! Gosh I've been wanting a dough hook for a long time, never found one ..... and if you do see them the odd time, they're expensive or sold out ! ..... and then I found your video - love being creative and to have homemade is even better - thank you so much for sharing ! Much gratitude
Your Dad made an awesome video that explained perfectly how to make the specialised whisk. A great teacher and a great Dad. Thank you for inviting us into your Dad's workshop, it was a journey we'll worth taking.👍💯😍😍
Throughly enjoyed watching this. Hey (!) and yours is an original. Haven’t seen one with a heart in the middle. They may be out there but I haven’t seen them. So special!
@@ellyswholegrainsourdough , if you have your Dad help on the soap mold video, you'll have that video as a memory keeper, just like this one. Don't miss the opportunity to make a treasure. As this video is simply a treasure. 💖🌞🌵😷
Oh how cool! I’d definitely buy one if your dad were selling them, but I’m not confident I could make one! Your dad is lovely Elly and full of knowledge! Do your kids love going to grandpa’s shed? I’d love to get in there 😂😊
Such a precious keepsake of a video!! I can totally see where you get your teaching style from... ❤ You're both very thorough in your explanations! Bravo 👏 Well done, Mr. Fred!! Well done! 👏
These are gorgeous and I love them so much.. And your wire working technique is excellent! You can make the heart flat then use a spreading pliers to make the gap once it's mounted in the handle, it'll create the tension that keeps it wedged in the ferrule even if the adhesive fails
I'm not sure l have pipe laying around for the bending part, so I'm going to try my socket set. It has all sorts of rounds. Just remember the size marked on the socket is the inside dimension, you'll have to measure the outsides to get the dimensions in the PDF. 💖🌞🌵😷
I bought a short piece of copper pipe at a hardware store for a bonsai task last year, so if others don't have offcuts saved over time, it shouldn't be too difficult to get some, or ask at a building site if there's one nearby :)

Thank you, yes we like him 😅
You are both adorable! Thanks for the video and the helpful tips.
Aww, thanks Rita, you're most welcome :)
You have such an awesome Dad. Thanks Dad for the demonstration of how to make one of these whisks. You both are awesome.
Thank you x
Your dad is an excellent teacher. Enjoyed the video
Thank you!
Very talented gentleman
He'll be pleased to hear that, thanks.

Aloha from Hawaii!!! Wishing I had my own lady-shed... I would be out there as soon as this vid ends 🤙
Aloha! Three cheers for lady sheds! 🌺
Just watched your rye loaf recipe and thought "I wonder if there's a DIY dough whisk video?" Yours was the first result, and the perfect explanation 😊
Wonderful!
Great workshop!
Sure is, thanks.
Your dad is great! Thanks!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
So many tips! ❤❤
Excellent tutorial and tips! Thanks to you both! P.S. Great organized shed. Linda, Quebec, Canada
Thanks Linda! Yes Dad's shed is like my kitchen :)

She lived all her life knowing dad and only now she came to know how he makes the things..

They aren't out there. Not that I've seen anyway! Thanks, Dad will appreciate this comment.
Good on ya, dad. Great video.
Thanks 👍
Aww, this is so sweet , need to check the ferrol on my whisk.
Next would like to see him making of the wooden soap mould.
Such a heartwarming video
oh thanks! I have thought of making the soap mould video myself! (I am quite handy too)

Thanks Fred and Elly. Fun project for home bakers. How old is Fred when this was filmed? He is full of the life force.
Thank you, this is actually my dad Garry (Fred was my grandfather!). He is in his mid 70's, and yes, full of energy for the good things in life!

Thanks :)

@@tosca..., I was thinking about a recycling center or dump. My neighbor is a bit of a "collector", he might have a piece. 💖🌞🌵😷
I'm sure you won't have to look too hard to find a bit!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😍😍😍😍😍😍
I really love the design and would like to see if I can order one! Please let me know if you can direct me somewhere I can request one?
Thanks Melanie, we don't know of anyone making these but Dad and I made the video to show people how to do it :)
