That's a lot of power on that picker...😬 A lot more than we had back in the 60's. Really enjoyed the reminder of how we picked and cribbed back when I was a teen. Thanks for video 👍
My younger brother lost his left arm in 1978 to the drive shaft on our elevator set up just like yours. He was 15. I was with him and saw it happen - it was horrific. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE replace that power shaft with one that has a safety slip sleeve. We were driving the elevator with our 3020. PLEASE fix this ASAP!
Decades ago my dad got into too much of a hurry to unplug the husking rollers without shutting down the machinery. His gauntlet glove was caught by the rollers. He lost his right arm in the rollers. It was a miracle that he came out of this accident alive. Please be careful around the farm machinery and slow down and think of what you are doing.
I think your wrong I saw a man lose his leg on a shaft that had the safety sleeve on you have a be aware of the machine and realized that it is definitely dangerous and stay away from it safely almost all farming is dangerous and you have to watch what you do I know of people dieing from all kinds of things on the farm my Grandfather all most lost his leg to a hog that he had raised from a baby it just went crazy and went after him and he was not expecting it to see had new pigs and he was trying to help her like he always did. God Bless Y'all and stay safe and as for as I know there is no better way to stay safe then to pay attention to what you are doing there is nothing that the government can do to make you safe on the farm by passing regs on the farm you have to pay attention to what you are doing
@@geneporter4849 agree that safety always starts with situational awareness - not govt intrusion. That said, the odds of injury from a properly covered shaft are tiny compared to the odds that shaft ☝offers. Farming is the farthest thing from risk free - but there is no excuse imho for not moving the odds in ones favor when possible - especially when the risk has been pointed out. We were dirt poor, but our father never forgave himself for leaving that shaft exposed. Life’s short- Get it fixed please!
That’s very similar to the way we did it in the fifties n sixties. My Sunday School teacher nod friend(Carlin) got caught up in pto shaft n it ruined him. Skinned him. We always tried to keep shield over pto. Had a little C Allis Chambers on it n picked with two row mounted picker on Super M with hand clutch. Good times as I look back on it now.
Great video. I always enjoy your content. I like how you add information or explanation to most of your videos as well! Great way to promote farming and ag!
Just started watching your videos, good job on the farm,I'd like to see all your farm and your animals, your farm dog,all your chores.Terry from Michigan, where's your farm at??keep up the good work, will be watching.
Interesting elevator model...have never seen one like that with the side that tilts toward a gravity box...am I guessing that it precedes even the evolution of the gravity box?
Great video! Reminds me of helping my late grandfather in the late 80's and 90's. Hard work is good for the soul.
That sounds exciting-here's to a safe and successful harvest season in 2024! 🌽🚜 Hope you enjoy the process, and can’t wait to see how it all goes!
wow! That brings back a lot of memories! Thanks for sharing!
Great job little fella, I appreciate you doing this video!

I use to pick with 2 row New Idea Picker . Fed it to the steers made good feed . Better then paying storeage at the mill .
I have an old corn picker like that except mine’s one real corn picker

Ahoj chlapče. Z tebe musí mít táta obrovskou radost. Jen tak dál a ať se daří a Bůh Vám žehnej.

I’m only following because your parents are raising the next generation of farmers! Thank you young man learn all you can!!
My mother got caught in a square shaft . Broke her left arm and 12 ribs, punctured left lung. Even a piece of field tile.
New Idea were the best corn pickers
