If you have a decimal number, it is best to remove it by multiplying it out. eg 1.5x + 3y = 1 In this case I would multiply everything by 2. So it would become 3x + 6y = 2
I'm assuming you understood how he got to: 3x + -4 = 5 Adding a negative number is the same thing as just subtracting so you could simplify it as: 3x - 4 = 5 To solve for X you first want get rid of the -4. So you need to add 4 to both sides of the equation: 3x - 4 = 5 +4 +4 The 4s on the left side cancel out so you're left with: 3x = 9 To solve for x, just divide by 3 on both sides and you get: X=3 Hope that helps! i have different solution but always same answer. i always multiply both variables like
-3(4x+3y=15)
4(3x-2y=7)
y=1 x=3
That seems more complicated. You already have a negative coefficient. You don't need another one.

Because the signs behind the numbers are all positive so we have to multiply one of the equation by negative sign.
