1925 - When Egypt was Black

  • 100 years ago, Egypt was a completely different nation. In contrast to the bustling metropolis cities that have become synonymous with this, now, 'Arab' nation that is dependent on it's tourist fuelled economy.
Back in 1925 however, we see an Egypt still steeped in the embers of ancient traditions, with the true descendants of the Kemetic culture still practising an ancient lifestyle in the same way, 4000 years after these practises were first etched in stone.
In this beautiful footage captured by the metropolitan museum of art, prior to the explosion of global interest in Ancient Egypt, and subsequent urbanisation of Cairo and Alexandria, much of the ancient Egyptian culture was under the custody of those indigenous southernmost Egyptians. Those black African Egyptians, who are today called the 'Nubian' Egyptians, were, in those days were not restricted to Aswan.
Modern Nubains state that, in these times, the dark skinned or black Egyptians never referred to themselves as 'Nubians'. But sadly, much like the wider global melenated populations, they have had this label thrust upon them by those desperate to benefit from this differentiation.
Indeed, they were, and remain, distinct from the mixed city dwelling populations due to their notable africanity, which is expressed in their pastoralist cultural practises, and a local penchant for adorning themselves in Gold. This was punctuated by their continuation of Nile valley practises that weren't reflected by the non-Kemetic populations, moving north of Aswan as one draws toward the delta region and Alexandria.
In this remarkable footage captured nearly one century ago, you will observe the undeniable preservation and continuation of ancient Egyptian tradition by its indigenous African population, who are modern times known as, the Nubians.

This is it! I'm 63 now. When I was a boy here in London, there was a program called Pathe News. This program would show places around the earth , different countries. Some of the photography was made at the beginning 19th century in roaring Black and white. Whenever they showed places like Egypt, Palestine, Israel, all I can remember seeing was Black African people. That is what I saw and remember. UNDERSTAND THAT THE ENTIRE SO-CALLED MIDDLE EAST WAS INHABITED BY BLAcK PEOPLE--IN FACT, THE 12 TRIBES ORIGINATED IN THAT REGION. WELL, UNTIL THE ARABS CAME BY BETWEEN -WELL, HERE ARE SOME FACTS
The initial Arab conquests are described and dated: Palestine and Syria (634-6); Persian Mesopotamia (636-40); northern Mesopotamia and south‐west Armenia (640); Khuzistan (640-2); Egypt (641-3); Iran (642-52).
These Arabs have no connection to these lands--they are still occupying our lands in the North of Africa--will we retrieve our lands back from them? that's the question and the answer is yes--we were promised that divine intervention would address these issues and we are getting closer to this time

NO THEY DIDNT. READ THIS SO YOU STOP LOOKING LIKE A RETARD]
You're mistakenly identifying Kushite Evidence and art and history as evidence of a black Egyptian population.
      The Kushite Connection:
The Kingdom of Kush ruled Egypt during the 25th dynasty, which means that Kushite rulers and nobles were depicted in Egyptian art during that period. It's likely that many of the images of darker-skinned individuals in ancient Egyptian art are actually Kushites, not Egyptians. Or, it's possible that you've stumbled upon Kushite art and mistakenly thought it was Egyptian.
      Similarities in Art and Architecture:
The art and architecture of the Kushites show striking similarities with ancient Egyptian art, which can lead to confusion. The Kushites were heavily influenced by Egyptian culture, and vice versa, due to their geographical proximity and historical interactions.
      Kushite Art and Physical Characteristics:
Kushite art often depicts people with fuller lips, broader noses, and more African-like facial features, which may be what people are mistakenly identifying as "Black Egyptians". If you examine the art and architecture of the Kushites, you would find that it's likely the source of the images that are being misidentified as Egyptian.
Lack of Exposure to Kushite History:
You're misidentifying Kushite evidence as Egyptian because you lack exposure to Kushite history and culture. The popularity of ancient Egyptian history and culture has overshadowed the significant achievements of the Kushite Kingdom.
      A Call to Action:
If you would stop with the ridiculous conspiracy theories and educate yourselves on the Kingdom of Kush, you would prevent making so many foolish claims and would actually get a real understanding of your people's history. It will probably answer so many questions that you have currently chalked up to this ridiculous conspiracy theory that there's some sort of secret cover-up plot by white people. Newsflash: there isn't, and we really don't care about Egypt so much that we would go to such lengths. Like you, we have our own amazing culture to be proud of, and we don't need to claim Egypt.
I think that once you start educating yourselves about the mighty Kush Kingdom, you too will be quite proud and no longer feel the need to try and claim Egypt, conspiracy theories, or think we are involved in some cover-up. Take the time to learn about your true heritage and celebrate the achievements of the Kushite Kingdom.

    Hello @Theking'sMonologue, Happy New Year.
I am from Nigeria, I've always heard the local ethnic groups especially the old ones talk about how we came from Egypt for some. I watched a documentary of someone talking about the history of migration and how the different tribes came and spread around Nigeria.
There's this ethnic group known as the Nup`e, I've noticed their language is probably the most connected to many of the tribes in Nigeria from the North and the South.
Just about a year ago I thought you all were spreading BS, I was annoyed and embarrassed even, until I was patient to watch a full video from Mister Imhotep. The video and the reality he gave were unarguable and too logical I continued to dig deep and coupled with some oral history I've always heard everything connected.
There's a reason all these truths are coming out now and becoming more popular, there's a reason the White-washed narratives and views about the world is falling flat and people trust Caucasians less and less. Indeed we are that generation, we'll see!

    • @Jack-Pi8ni

The alleged Caucasian ‘whitewashing’ of Egyptian story is a fairly recent tilling in historical terms. They weren’t a timeline twinkle, when the Mesopotamians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Persians, the Babylonians, the Ottomans and the Arabs were rampaging over these lands. The ancient black Egyptian ancestral connections have been whitewashed in the post Ottoman version of the near East Mediterranean region in the same way that Jewish links are being scrubbed.

Thank you!!! The history of Western architecture, which, 40 years ago, we studied for four years in our 5-year Nairobi University architecture undergraduate course, starts with the Kemetiou (ancient Egyptian). It then strung sequentially, through Greek, roman, Romanesque, gothic and so on ending with the post-modernism in a logical chronology with a few overlaps.
Architecture is about how humans house themselves, their activities and property in response to social, environmental and technological forces. Therefore, to effectively learn the history of architecture in the manner we did, it is vital to know the social forces of, environmental forces over and technology available to the peoples whose architecture is under study.
So we learnt much about the origins, culture and daily lives of the Greeks, Romans, Franks, English, Germans, Usonians and so on.
However, there was very, very little on the origins, culture and daily lives of the Kemetiou, very little, yet, this was a literate civilization that recorded everything and had and the equivalent of newspapers.
The feeling was like the Egyptian temple universities, cities, necropoli, pyramids and other monuments were built by unknown people who then drifted off and vanished into desert mirages.
I often wondered why this happened and concluded that had the text book we used, published for Western universities, would, given the African details of the Kemetiou, have been inadmissible in those universities.
IMO, enough is known now to fill in that gaping chasm…

I love architecture, especially Islamic. I was wowed by the Alhambra in andalucia, Grenada, Florence, genoa. Also Rome felt magical. As i went further north the less grander it became. It seems that Egypt was the grandest with its red granites and ornate decorations, then 1000 years later we have Rome/byzantium then the hapsburgs, medici, bourbons.. We then go to Normans, saxons with their barbaric castles and then to the gothic which to me seems strange, depressing and without much charm. I realised how villagey the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway looked. It seems the more recent the civilization the more drab the construction. Even London and france is not so impressive when compared to the iberia and Mediterranean. I was wowed by Iranian islamic architecture. You can just tell how advanced a civilization was by its architecture and cuisine. I have less than good words to say about Britain, Netherlands, Scandinavia... This is my amateur observations as a hobbyist Kenyan traveller.

The ancients were there when they did it to the minoans, the indus valley, and sumer. Only kemet managed to push back the initial indo european invasions. look up the indo european expansion. then look at the timelines. The civilizations fell soon after the war mongering indo europeans invaded.
The people who live in the mediterranean now including the turks, greeks etc ARE NOT INDIGENOUS there. They came from central asia and central europe.
the canaanites, minoans, indus valley, sumer, elamites fell. The indo europeans bred like rabiits then dispersed throught the world. Just like more modern times with australia, argentina, south africa etc.

I continue to find your exceptionally clarifying work in this area to be of great value, and worthy of broad consideration, as so much of this history has now been turned back onto a sort of guided ambiguity. It is also very true how the effects of retooling this subject in the western media has reshaped and utterly distorted many perceptions of the native peoples of this land in our memories and imaginations. Your dedication to the repair is noble and notable, and necessary. As many of these distortions have taken root in the west, they have often fallen prey to much of the anti-black sentiment that is now so prevalent in modern society, and provides ample opportunity for a willing west to protest any truthful effort to unveil Africa's deepest roots, and subsequent contributions to the world. Thank you for your tireless commitment to this effort. Your strong stance and vast understanding in the social media space is without equal. Blessings.

I’m an Egyptologist, and I find it quite natural that a sizeable segment of Ancient Egypt (for most of its history) should be inhabited by “Black” East Africans; by the same token, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the rest of the population definitely also included people of North African, Near Eastern, Mediterranean origin, and far beyond. The idea that Ancient Egypt was exclusively - or even predominantly - populated by Black Africans is just as preposterous as the grossly inaccurate notion propagated by colonial imperialists in the preceding two centuries that the civilization of Ancient Egypt was somehow divorced from the peoples and cultures of the rest of Africa, and therefore a product of “White” ingenuity. Either way, it must be understood that such notions of race and ethnicity are entirely modern constructs, and therefore grossly anachronistic when applied to the ancient world. To the Ancient Egyptians, the colour of one’s skin, the contours of one’s face, or the texture of one’s hair mattered not at all: if you dressed and behaved as as an Egyptian, ate, worshipped, talked, and walked like an Egyptian, you were an Egyptian, whether you otherwise happened to appear African, Libyan, Syrian, Hittite, Aegean, or any admixture of the above or more - full stop.

    • @kingmono
      @kingmono  2 месяца назад +5

It depends how you define black. There is strong, I would argue, conclusive anthropological data suggesting that Egypt (along with most of North Africa) for the greater proportion of history has been inhabited by people who would be classified as black by modern standards. I don't think this is a stretch at all. All of the data supports that Egypt was occupied by a melanodermic population, which is affirmed by anthropometric, craniometric, cultural Anthropology and continuity with modern African populations. I agree with much of your assessment but differ with you greatly if the idea that the very recent paling of North Africa was the ancient state of play, as this is not supported anthropologically. Glad to have you here though, very much so. I'd like to invite you to review my recent paper on the reconstruction of Amenhotep III. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

What is being said here is that the people we call " Nubians " today , are actually what very ancient Egypt looked like. These are Egyptians , & were the Pharoahs of the old Kingdom up until the New Kingdom. There were other foreign dynasties here & there, but these people are just Egyptians . The title of " Nubian " has been twisted about so much , that how its used in modern times, is not what it meant in Ancient.

Finally, you acknowledge that there was never an historically ethnic group called "Nubian". The people called Nubians today are descendants of ancient Egyptians and Kushites. Nubia is a name of a region of ancient Egypt and Kerma/Kush. It is not an ethnic or tribal group. There was no polity or kingdom called Nubia.
Hopefully, the next thing that you are going to realise is that the Nilotic people have historical no connection to the Nile Valley during Pharaonic Egypt and Kush. Nilotics are an Equitorial East Africans by origin with ancient genetic links to the KhoiSan races. The original Nile Valley population belonged to the y-DNA haplogroup E1b1 of Northern Africa and the Sahara. Ancient Egyptians and Kushites therefore were genetically, linguistically, culturally, and phenotypically closer to Bantu people and the peoples of Western Sudan/southern Libya than to the Nilotic tribes who never practiced crop farming agriculture.

    • @rosam674
      @rosam674 9 месяцев назад +2

There's E1b1a (Shemitic groups = Negroes/Bantus) and E1b1b (Hamitic groups = Cushites, Berbers, Touaregs, etc) The only Africans who practice farming are the E1b1a. The Khoisan (haplogroup A) are hunter-gatherers, and Nilotic people (haplogroup A) are nomadic, the Pigymies (haplogroup B) are hunter-gatherers, and Hamites (haplogroup E1b1b) are nomadic. Outside the E1b1a, most of these other African groups still don't practice farming to this day, yet they are the ones allocated ancient Egypt and those northern African spaces by geneticists. Someone is hiding information.
