Oh, Waffles is a great representative of Southern African culture in music. I vouch for her always.
Adding on to the new hot single, "Wa di busa", Waffles nailed the performances and the visuals of the phrase. hmm... lots of eye candy in that video. ;)
As a Southern-Sesotho man, with second-generation roots from Lesotho, 'Oa li busa', is how we would formally write it, although commonly written/pronounced 'Wa di busa' in modern society.
It is a phrase that is popular in South African indigenous tribes who communicate in languanges, mainly, Sesotho, Sepedi and Setswana. All three of these vernac are +/-90% the same by the way. "Wa di busa" is slang, for giving a compliment, or making a flattering remark for when you would experess it in English as, "You rock", "You are dope", You bring the vibe", "You are lit".... Just to share my 2 cents. :)

Some of her info is wrong. Piano became our chief genre around 2019 but only took off internationally on Tiktok 2020.

Wadibusa means "You rock" in Setswana. First, it was the Bacardi origin question in the other interview, and now this? I think the team is failing Uncle Waffles by not educating her on some of these South African nuances. Y'all should do better.
Because SA is such a pot of diversity I wouldn’t put the weight of representing the vast slang available in SA on her shoulders, not even tyla could answer that one.
