I miss you baby...i won't be tired watching and listening to you...hearing your voice gives me comfort and all memories we had will never forgotten..i love you and i will always will
USMC motivate me! Meaning someone do something great today, get me pumped. You sir have motivated me. Ive recently purchased the sun dolphin but have started my conversion to bass modificatiins based on and around your design, i just love it that much. Everything in its place is the only way ( the right way)... for some of us. Great winter garage project. Semper fi.
Wow! I have to say I've looked at alot of videos on RUclips with this boat. All because I'm thinking about getting one also. And your setup is definitely one of the best setups I've seen. Great job sir.🙂🎣
I still have it, i bought a new weld craft 12 foot john boat and new Dohatsu 9.8 hp 4 stroke outboard 2 months ago. Believe it or not i miss using my little pelican!
Thank you so much for the info. I checked with Smith trailers and I would have to put every but and bolt of theirs together. Again, nice boat and thanks for getting back with me.
Beautiful set up. I think I know what to buy for my old 6 horse Johnson. I think it may be overpowered but it’s nice to have power when you need it. Well done.
Very nice. How did you create the front tray for the rods with the half moon pieces of PVC, and did you Velcro all the PVC pieces down, or did you have to use screws any place. I'm just leary of how well screws will hold after some use. Thanks
to move from front to back, how about a hinge system on the left or right side of the front chair rail so you can flip the seat from the other side without the hinge upwards so you can move to the front or back freely and the seat will be out of the way? just a thought
Hello, hinge is not a good idea. If you look how the seat frame sits in boat...when the boat is in the water the seat bases give support to the sides. When lifted the sides will pull together slightly and seat rail difficult to re engage.
Working on my new Raider 10e. I also like a stowed trolling motor that doesn't take up any deck space. Did you just shim up the area under the frontmost part of the mounting plate. Hard to zoom in, looks like something in the divot above the handle. What connectors to mount the plate? In hindsight would you do anything different? Thanks for any help you have to offer.
THIS video is over 5 yrs old but i noticed that boat is only rated at 3.5 hp. wonder if he ever had problems with transom vibration..others have stated there is transom flexing on this boat..
Many thanks, think i have video on water (short) . Will try to upload it. Im not using it now, had to get bigger boat to take along my wife n daughter fishing...sure miss the little Pelican though.
Wow! Love the organization/engineering! Love the rod storage/staggering and keeping one side open. Smart. How do you like the trolling motor mounting system? Hope you do more videos! Thanks.
Beautiful job ! I just picked up a Mercury 3.5 hp and should probably get a motor support or transom mount...It looks like the motor is fully vertical with transom mount. What brand did you go with?
Great video indeed! I am new to the fishing scene, and I enjoy bass fishing. Last season I fished from the banks. I want to get a boat for the following season, but I don't want to put a lot of money into it. Neither do I want to go cheap. After looking at the various Jon boat, etc. I've decided to go with the Pelican Bass Raider 10E. It appears that this boat will fit my needs. I like how you organized the boat. You didn't mentioned the flooring ... how you did it. Also, about how much money do you have tied up in it. Thanks for the information.
I see this was posted 2016. Are you still happy with boat? Thinking about getting one. Is it just as or more stable than 12' Alum Jon boat? Seats look comfortable. Where did you get them? Thanks for sharing.
im 17 and bought one for my first boat i have been in many small boats but this boat is one of the best me and my brother both have plenty of room and it is really stable for a small boat
How did you attach the winch hook to the front of the boat? I looks like the hook is removable so that the trolling motor could be located at the front?
That is one nice little set up. And yes I did get some ideas. I think I'm going to go ahead and get me a twin troller x10 and tha will free up the space of your trolling motor but I like how your seat is
You are absolutely correct other guy and their ideas about putting 150 lbs. Of B.S on a ten foot boat wow unbelievable it's all about the KISS keep it simple stupid I can certainly appreciate what you have done as far as maintaining room remarkable job yours is one of the top videos on RUclips the only difference in mine is the rod holders are on the inside above the floor
question, if you put a casting deck on the front along with the trolling motor do you think that would level out the boat with one person in the back when you go with the motor going (a 6hp)
Well done, Richard! Is the trolling motor one of those that uses I-Pilot to keep you in place or travel in a circle? If so, does it work ok with an offset mount like that? Thanks! - Liza
So from reading your comment I assume you used wood screws for your tie down or anchor cleats? Anything else to strengthen them in case used on a rough day with an anchor?
Are the trailer bunks underneath the pontoons? Or in the center in between the pontoons? I set my trailer up and am trying to figure out which way would be best
Hello, sorry im not on here much now days. I positioned the bunks on pontoons (inboard of the center ridge. Then set the side bunk / guides as close as possible and she will load good every time. Good luck and tight lines!
Nice setup. I'm looking to retire soon. This should do great for my needs. Thanks for the post. Please post any new mods you come up with in the future.....
Very nice set up Richard! I just sold my big bass boat last summer and thinking of down sizing to a Pelican 10 E. Did you buy the trailer assembled and, if I may ask, about what would the trailer cost? Thanks my fellow Hoosier. I love in Connersville.
Hello. yes the carpet and plywood made a big difference. Yes it is rated for 3.5 hp but i think they are being overly cautious. My evinrude weighs less that a new 3.5
I love how you mounted the tm I wish you would have shown more of that because I have a raider myself and I just bought a minn kids 55 lb thrust transom mount because I couldn't figure out just how to mount the one like you have but great video bud I received a few ideas for my boat. Btw have you ever thought of installing a phone charger???? If you do please show how you run the wires through your boat. 😜
Hi Richard, another Indiana boy here, and I am just now starting to look at fishing boats. I am not too far off from retirement, and would like to do something like this in order to be able to fish without breaking the bank. I found a Pelican 10e on Craigslist for $600. I don't want to seem rude, but how much more could I expect to put into this boat to get it up to par?
Richard, great review. I'm glad I stumbled across this. I'm looking at the Pelican and the Uncle Buck's Pond Prowler Boat - 10'. Did you consider the pond prowler? They seem similar. Thanks Mike
Richard I have been looking and looking for the perfect setup for me. Well I found it in your design! Great build. I absolutely love it. I will be building mine very similar to yours and probably asking lots of questions along the way. You wouldn’t happen to be anywhere near raliegh or Richmond would you as I would love to see this thing in person. I live between raliegh and richmond.
wow man! u really opened my eyes to the possibilities i have with my boat! i think i am am going to go for a front mounted foot controlled trolling motor. does it weigh down the front much when you are alone?
I miss you baby...i won't be tired watching and listening to you...hearing your voice gives me comfort and all memories we had will never forgotten..i love you and i will always will
Love how clean this boat is and organized a must when fishing!
USMC motivate me! Meaning someone do something great today, get me pumped. You sir have motivated me. This is a nice set-up I have the same identical boat. Please share with us how you have your Trolling Motor mounted and secured to the boat
This is the best set up on this boat that i have seen so fare...great boat
This is a seriously impressive little fishing machine!
Awesome job on the boat!! Working on my boat right now. Thanks for the great ideas
Awesome Job on this boat. I am thinking of getting one. I love all the things that you have done to yours. Thanks
Thanks, you really cant go wrong for the money and portability / maneuverability
I still have it, i bought a new weld craft 12 foot john boat and new Dohatsu 9.8 hp 4 stroke outboard 2 months ago. Believe it or not i miss using my little pelican!
Nice clean setup! I love these pelican bass boats 👍
I like his idea about a fishing pole holder the best. That is good information about the boat trailer.
Very nice. I like the PVC rod holders. Great idea
Thank you so much for the info. I checked with Smith trailers and I would have to put every but and bolt of theirs together.
Again, nice boat and thanks for getting back with me.
Fantastic presentation of an awesome boat.
I would really like to know how he did a couple key things on this boat. one of if not the best bass raiders i have seen.
Be sure to only put a max of 3.5hp gas motor on one of these. Why the back submerges, great setup man!
Best set up I have seen.
Love the boat... This is one of the best Bass Raiders I have seen.
Great video, and you little boat is very well thought out
Beautiful set up.
Thanks
Nice mods , very clean and organized
Nice boat, I somewhat envy your organization. Like your shirt says, those jeans you are wearing are definitely extra. 😉👍🏻
to move from front to back, how about a hinge system on the left or right side of the front chair rail so you can flip the seat from the other side without the hinge upwards so you can move to the front or back freely and the seat will be out of the way? just a thought

Richard, that is a Really nice boat! Good job.
Wow this is awesome I got this boat not to long ago and had no idea what to put on it but now I do thanks man great video
Amazing boat!!! Thank you for all the ideas!
I really like your setup. I just got a Bow Mount Minn Kota, and I was wondering if you might be able to share how you mounted your on the Pelican.
... Yes, and what kind of support underneath was used to keep the mounting bolts from ripping out of the plastic?
.
What type of seats?? I really like the set up love the rod holders very nice great job 👏
You did a great job on the boat.
Can I ask how the seats dont blow out on the road? Very nicely done
Thinking about getting this boat soon, thanks for the vid and it looks great, tight lines brother! 👍
This is exactly what I need for our lake near me. I like this.
Great job, love the video. My husband and I plan on getting one soon.
Nicely set up. Imagine what Richard would accomplish with a larger tin boat.
THIS video is over 5 yrs old but i noticed that boat is only rated at 3.5 hp. wonder if he ever had problems with transom vibration..others have stated there is transom flexing on this boat..
Nice Mods...Did you use well nuts for the cleats you installed or do you think screws w/ adhesive are adequate?
Boat is setup beautifully.
love this boat really looking at getting one! I was just wondering if you could do a video of you on the water with the motor running? thanks!
Many thanks, think i have video on water (short) . Will try to upload it. Im not using it now, had to get bigger boat to take along my wife n daughter fishing...sure miss the little Pelican though.
thanks!
Fishing is a solitary thing for a man to do alone.
Hemingway did not call his book”The old man and his ball and chain and rugrat.”
The twin troller is the ultimate 10 foot boat with superior handling.
You could add head and deck lights for night fishing
Great video, but the Bass Raider is rated for a outboard motor (maximum 3.5 horsepower)! I love your mods, I have one being shipped to me.
Wow! Love the organization/engineering! Love the rod storage/staggering and keeping one side open. Smart. How do you like the trolling motor mounting system? Hope you do more videos! Thanks.
id love to see more detail on how you mounted the trolling motor!
How fast would you say that 6hp pushes it? I have the exact boat and motor but it seems to have a ton of drag but I think your shim tricj might work
How did you attach the trolling motor??
Beautiful job ! I just picked up a Mercury 3.5 hp and should probably get a motor support or transom mount...It looks like the motor is fully vertical with transom mount. What brand did you go with?

Yes thoe are interesting, but substantially more money
Very Very nice. Thanks for putting this up.
Will you show how you got the trolling motor mounted please
Dakota Lights agreed!
Yes please make a video of you mounting trolling motor
Yes great idea 💡
What did you use to mount the foot control motor on the side? Did you have to shim it?
You are absolutely correct other guy and their ideas about putting 150 lbs. Of B.S on a ten foot boat wow unbelievable it's all about the KISS keep it simple stupid I can certainly appreciate what you have done as far as maintaining room remarkable job yours is one of the top videos on RUclips the only difference in mine is the rod holders are on the inside above the floor
I also have a pelican mine is the predator 10.3, and I love it. But i really like what you did to yours, great job👌
Very nice sir! How did you mount the trolling motor? Toggles? Rivnuts?
question, if you put a casting deck on the front along with the trolling motor do you think that would level out the boat with one person in the back when you go with the motor going (a 6hp)
great review and overlook of your boat, I'm looking to buy this boat. thanks
Well done, Richard! Is the trolling motor one of those that uses I-Pilot to keep you in place or travel in a circle? If so, does it work ok with an offset mount like that? Thanks! - Liza
And I love the rod holders for sure. I might borrow that one
really good setup i run the same motor on mines and i love it next is a trailer
So from reading your comment I assume you used wood screws for your tie down or anchor cleats? Anything else to strengthen them in case used on a rough day with an anchor?
I just used cleats with 4 small wood screws. Quite strong they have never loosened
What kind of seats are those, and where did you get them? Did you have to buy a swivel bracket separately? Excellent set up, btw...
Does the trolling motor being mounted on the side affect the "steering" of the boat? I would think it would try to turn the boat when being used.
... If I may, many boats (bigger ones) have the TM off the side. No, it does not affect it to the point that it is a problem.
.
What did you use to attach the rod holders, and or any other attachments to the plastic??
What kind of material did you use for the Shims for the outboard motor?
Love the boat . I want to buy one and I am thinking of getting one very soon.
how did you attach the pvc rod holders? looks like you drilled a hole in the top of them to screw them to the deck.
tim johns This is my question as well
Are the trailer bunks underneath the pontoons? Or in the center in between the pontoons? I set my trailer up and am trying to figure out which way would be best
Hello, sorry im not on here much now days. I positioned the bunks on pontoons (inboard of the center ridge. Then set the side bunk / guides as close as possible and she will load good every time. Good luck and tight lines!
Wow ! Really nice what you did to that boat . What type trailer is that ?
How well does it operate in windy conditions, say 10-15 mph. I have a kayak that gives me fits in slight wind. How did you like the 8 footer?
Really nice job with the boat. I've been torn between this boat or a fishing kayak.
I like your rod holder 😉
Nice setup. I'm looking to retire soon. This should do great for my needs. Thanks for the post. Please post any new mods you come up with in the future.....
What size trailer are you using, been trying find one for mine
Awesome set up!!
Have you had and problem with the trolling motor mount screws coming loose
Great video!
Great Video. I have this boat. Looking for the best rear mounted motor for it. Any suggestions?
Very nice set up Richard! I just sold my big bass boat last summer and thinking of down sizing to a Pelican 10 E.
Did you buy the trailer assembled and, if I may ask, about what would the trailer cost?
Thanks my fellow Hoosier. I love in Connersville.
Hi Jim. Yes i biught the 12ft trailer fully assembled at outdoor word in Washington, In. cost $900.00. Good luck!
Mid America trailers, purchased at outdoor world Washington, In.
nice looking boat. i was looking at these at Dunhams an loved it. what do you use for navigation lights?
I neve use it at night but walmart carries nice navigation lights which would be easy
+Richard Dearing oh ok and i saw those lights at my Walfart. I was just curious. Boat looks good by the way.
Great looking rig how fast does the boat go with the outboard motor
If you dont mind me asking how much was that trailer?
Do you have a video of the motor pushing the boat
How did you mount the minkota to the front
Do you have a video of it in the water with that motor?
any way you can make a video showing how motor is mounted? I want one of these but don't trust myself to put motor on
Will be adding a Humming Bird Fish Finder depth finder soon
awesome boat, hope you don't mind me asking but how did you mount the trolling motor
Does the carpet and plywood help? With stability while standing up?
Hello. yes the carpet and plywood made a big difference.
I might follow this post up by saying, I don't know anything about boats beyond what I am now learning online... Green as grass.
hey nice job on your 10 e . can you tell me where you got them seats ?
What kind of carpet did you add, and did you just put it straight on without anything else underneath it?
Yes 1/2 inch plywood. Just stapled the indoor outdoor carpet to plywood. I have only two "short' screws fastening plywood to bottom to prevent warping
Richard, great review. I'm glad I stumbled across this. I'm looking at the Pelican and the Uncle Buck's Pond Prowler Boat - 10'. Did you consider the pond prowler? They seem similar.
Thanks
Mike
Im sure the pond prowler is ok too, i just like the pelican design better, and i had an 8 ft before so i stayed with it
How did you mount the trolling motor??
Really just an awesome job.
I live between raliegh and richmond.
love the boat! what is the largest lake you go on?
Ive had it an a 3000 acre lake known for dangerous winds...did fine
wow man! u really opened my eyes to the possibilities i have with my boat! i think i am am going to go for a front mounted foot controlled trolling motor. does it weigh down the front much when you are alone?
Are you still fishing this boat? I love what you did with boat. What part of Indiana are you in.? I'm near Lawenceburg/Cincy. Great video!
