I fully agree with the point N.T Wright makes at 1 hour in, about churches being focused on EITHER practical works or gospel preaching, but not both. I've seen it first hand, and I've even preached about it multiple times saying we must be people who are 'praying with dirty hands.'
If we forgoe being incarnational, we give lie to the gospel; if we forgoe the gospel we cease being incarnational and just become people who do works. We have to be both to be effective.

Yes but it should be Jesus action not social action. The early Salvation army had the balance of Evangelism and action soaked in prayer

Dr. Golf was bored to tears as a Pentecostal! He came to strongly appreciate his parent’s patience, compassion, sacrifice, and Christian love caring for all kinds of people. A church consists of the Bell Shaped Curve of all kinds of people from brilliant members with high IQ’s and academic degrees as well as people that cannot read or write. Many of us are critical of that variety and the silly things fellow believers do so often. A variety of gifts and calls is a wonderful thing to observe.

How can one be bored as a Pentecostal? Odd.

There seems to be a split between social justice christians and conservative christians. But they should both be feeding hungry, housing homeless, caring for the sick or injured.

A footnote to N.T. Wright's statements (37:00 and on) about community work of practicing Christians being driven by the Spirit of Christ, not by human organization and clever plans: “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” John‬ ‭8:31-32‬.

I don’t believe the two are mutually exclusive, instead how brilliant is it when our plans are directed by the Spirit?

I was raised Catholic and bored to death and then I started attending a Pentecostal church and became a disciple of Christ! 😂
    God is very humorous!
