Endo sensei is one of the greatest teachers I've ever seen. His movement is so unconstrained, yet so pure.

I wonder how long we will continue with those "constructive" arguments...

Is an Aikido demonstration a real fight? Is a jiu jitsu match a real fight? Is a Judo match a real fight? Is a Karate kata a real fight? Is a UFC fight a real one? Will we all come to the "brilliant" conclusion that no martial art is totally "real" and, in order to experience "real" combat, we should all go to war? Wait a minute, isn't the goal of all serious martial arts to enable a person to " conquer you enemy without fighting"?

Define "real fight" because I don't know what that means.
In the street you have NO idea how you'll be attacked. No idea. You could be hit round the head with a melon. Should we consider that? Perhaps stock up our dojos with fruit to broaden our studies?
Or would it be better to study a limited number of attacks that cover a broad range of principles? There are fewer than 20 related attacks in the Aikikai syllabus, yet they keep us delighted for decades trying to figure out how to use them.
