I was at this show, a young woman then, on the floor close to the stage. We danced until we were soaked in sweat, clothes and all, and when it ended, we hadn't had enough of Bob Marley, The Wailers, or the Iri-Ites. Marley's opening invocation was so crazy powerful and set just the right mood for the concert. I suppose you could say I'm entering my senior years now, but I'd dance this concert again today if Bob Marley were still alive! Thanks for posting this.

I was at all the Bob Marley concerts. I brought reggae to Soledad in 1972. Me n the lone cruisers were the first ones to listen to reggae.

I was standing in line outside waiting for the second show but you could hear the whole first show!!!! I'll never forget the two times I got to see my Bob, so epic! Santa Cruz was a magical place to grow up and a center for Reggae culture ❤ 🙏

I had the pleasure I'm seeing him when I was a child he was old but I remember Bob Marley and his younger days we were there together for the AFC is music makes me at peace I thank God for the brother. Amen rastaman vibration
This concert took place when I was 11 years old - ten years before I moved across the country to Santa Cruz and nine or so before I fell in love with reggae music - thanks to Bob. In listening to this amazing show I recalled getting the opportunity to perform at the Civic Auditorium several years ago in a fashion show. I remember the narrow little staircase up to the stage - maybe I stood/walked/held the handrail where Bob once did many years before!

Wow. I was at this show. Santa Cruz was such a reggae crazed town then. There was a reggae radio show on Saturday nights, "all killer, no filler!" Righteous musical education. So we were well primed for Bob Marley to come to town.
I've been listening to this show since I got a bootleg cassette tape of it 30 years ago, and I always suspected that it was an amazing crowd, I mean, Santa Cruz, come on. I think it might be one of the best Marley concerts I've ever heard out of many. From running away all the way through ride natty ride is absolutely superlative.
My mind is blown, absolutely brilliant... still so relevant today in 2020 & no doubt for as long as we as people exist. JAH BLESS YOU BOB MARLEY❤

I was at this concert it was amazing. The audience just flowed once one smooth movement
me too, it was a game changer. Carly Barret also broke his drum head (that had been on his famous snare drum for years) and I tried to help him put a new head on his drum because I was teaching drums at the Guitar Works in Santa Cruz at the time. For many technical reasons, he was completely unable (and indeed, everyone would be unable ) to reproduce the sound of his snare drum and it changed after words.
My 41 y.o. daughter was almost 2 when we took her to this show. Her friends can't believe that she got to see Bob live. Even if she was only a baby.

I was there also with my daughter she was 6 years old then. Oh how we danced together, she is still reggea lover. I remember how we put our children sometimes to rest up behind the benches. I saw Bob three or four times all together during that time.

I was at both shows in SC, 77 and 79.I have a cassette recording of this show that someone made but my copy is really bad. I'm glad this was posted. The sound is so much better than mine.
Wow, I still don't understand why person of Bob Marley 's integrity, calibre left this world so early or maybe God had a plan by taking him so early as now all his children have taken over him exactly as their father. Bob Marley is still alive

This is one of the best live albums ever! Heck, one of the best albums in general!! Always gives me chills listening to it. Especially "this is a track from the new album..wake up and LIVE!" Whaaat?? I can only imagine being there and being one of the first people to hear that song. SOO jealous of some of you who were actually there.

The best BMW concert!!!! Maeby the best reggae concert ever!!! This vibe is unbelievable, listen to all BMW studio albums witch are great, but this vibe you can only hear and feel here at Sata Cruz 79! All people who saw this live, I admire you :)
I was there. The vibe was so thick you could almost touch it. I remember looking at everyone to see if they could feel it too. Bob is the only one that could do that. I'll never forget.
Santa Barbara show was even better.... It's a shame it's not free to view anymore.

I was there. 9th grade and hangin' out on the mall--the pacific garden mall when it was still full of hippies with backpacks. Didn't get into the show--hardly knew who Bob Marley was--but remember the obvious buzz. I think we trying to score some buds
