    I'm prepping for PhD qualifying exams next month. This was still quite challenging but at least helped me grasp some main ideas to focus on in this text. Thanks!

    Seduction / Challenge reminds me of Lacan's Objet a: the 'negational substance' / void around which all other signifiers organise; the not-something from which the subject is formed, which provides the impetus for the creation of the imaginary/symbolic yet can never be known to do so (must be kept a secret behind the signified object) if we are to survive the realisation that we came from nothing (i.e life is a self made illusion). It a bit like Hegel's situation: that state of nothing which necessitates a reaction, and a reaction to the reaction, and so on, until we are the self-reproducing subject.
