- Now that we are back in Colorado, and its wintertime, it's time to break out the Hot Tent. But first... I've got to burn the oil off of the new wood stove. The other stove worked very well, but I've always wanted one with windows to see the fire. Now we have one!!!
Very informative video. Thanks for sharing!
@@SCOTT-u2i - Thanks! I don't claim to be a wood stove expert, but I'm glad that you were able to find it informative. Daisy & I are anxious to try it out in the hot tent. We'll definitely make a video of that! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Great video. I always keep wet ones wipes in my vehicle just in case I need to clean my hands. They do come in handy.
@patriciagale5047 - I always get the best suggestions from viewers and this is no exception! What a great idea. I'm going to get some today... because sometimes I never know when Daisy & I will just jump in the car and go do something. I usually get dirty when we do. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
looks like a cool stove.
@handicamper101 - Thanks! I like it, so far. I can't wait to try it out in the tent and see how well it works. Thanks for the comment and watching!
It looks like the new stove will be a good addition to your camping adventures and hello to Daisy!
@verapiercy2325 - I'm really looking forward to trying it out and being able to see the fire! That's going to make sleeping in the tent feel more like being outside. Thank you for the comment and watching!!!
You had me at rainbow trout. Looks pretty awesome! As some with roots from the Crescent City, you sound like you are channeling some Justine Wilson and a little Arlo Guthrie for good measure.
@BodhiTheBohoHobo - I have definitely picked up the Louisiana accent from working there so many years. I always get a strange look from people when they ask me where I'm from, and I tell them Colorado! Waa-haa-haa!!! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
The glass will self-clean when it burns clean. Normally it'll darken over every time you load wood into it, but it should be clear pretty soon. If it doesn't, some newspaper should easily wipe it clean. You won't need to razor blade it clean. :)
@MeetTheBushes - Thanks for the advice! I wasn't sure what to expect since this is the first stove I've had with glass windows. I can't wait to try it out in the tent! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Glad i watched your vidio.
Good presentation.
Over all i give your efforts a 7 out of 10 in the pure entertainment department.
And 10 out of 10 to watch your next one.
Koodoes
@kimpasay486 - Thanks! 7 out of 10 is good in my opinion, especially since I just wing it! I have more videos on the way... stay tuned! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Pull that longer top off, and swing the grills over the open flame to cook your food? Seem that makes sense.
@thewrenchreviews9986 - That's a good idea for using the stove as a BBQ grill... but I'd probably have to take it out of the tent before trying it. Otherwise I'd smoke myself out of the tent! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Could attach the link to the description?
Nice presentation!
@@olgaguer6443 - I've been asked to attach links before and can't seem to figure out how to do that. I guess I'm not very computer savvy. But if you're interested in checking them out, go to kingcampoutdoors.com. They have a lot of cool toys! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Great to see you back David . My thoughts on when you lift up the main cover is so you can use the swivel racks for multiple cooking uses.. 🎉🎉🎉 read bbq over wood❤
@ronaldrose6885 - That is a great idea! I would not have thought of that. I would probably have to move the stove out of the tent before trying it... but I like the idea of having a BBQ grill with me in addition to a source of heat. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
That also make it much easier to clean the glass windows from inside once they are covered with soot !
I wonder if a longer stove pipe would draw better when in actual use, that would pull in air from any small cracks/holes.
@1943L - I hate to admit this, but I am not an expert in this area. I've only used a wood stove 3 times... and my first one was a complete failure! However, I googled the question and found that the general answer is yes. I'm very glad that you asked that... now I know! I appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!!!
Welcome back!
@@ss383nova - Thank you for that! We're excited to be back and can't wait to get into some more adventures. I'll be sure to share them! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Where ya been!!!! Happy and merry belated Christmas to you and daisy
@@m988022 - Thanks for that, and the same to you & your family! We've been in Mississippi visiting family... for over a year... but are back in Colorado now. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
I love that new that's I think the best one yet.
I don't think you need my help to hold this stove pipe together.
Larry.
Ps; If you need more firewood I'll bet Daisy will help. HAHA!!! 👍👍🐕🐕
@@TD907-r5e - I think that I know what to do with this one..
now that I have some experience with them. But your past advice was invaluable. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Wow, I was so glad to see you, I knew you would be back, you were missed.....❤🐕❤️🐕
@@annebonny8865 - Thanks for hanging in there with us! We're excited about being back & will post new adventures as soon as possible. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
What is the size of it SM MID or LG ?
@sparky0288 - I got the large one. I messed up with my very 1st stove. It was only 14 inches long and I found out that the standard cut length of firewood is 16 inches. So everytime I had to buy some, it wouldn't fit in the stove! Now that won't be a problem. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
How long will it burn before you need to add more wood to keep it going
@margaretlemmon1143 - My only experience with a wood stove, so far, was with my old one. I'm sure that different types of wood will last different amounts of time. Oak, for example, will burn longer than pine. But I found that I could load the stove up just before going to bed, and still be warm in the morning. So for me... that's about 6 or 7 hours. Also... compressed sawdust bricks work even better than pine logs, for longer burn time & heat! Give 'em a try! Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Is that the large size? I purchased this months ago and have yet to use it. I'm kind a regretting it, but only because I got the largest size. The thing is a big beast and I don't live in a northern climate to justify something so large. I wish I had purchased the smallest version to maximize the free space in my tent.
@giantfactory - Yes, I got the large one. That's mainly because the very 1st stove I ever bought was only 14 inches long. I thought the same thing about saving space. Then I found out that the standard length of pre-cut firewood is 16 inches. It wouldn't fit in the stove! So I'm willing to sacrifice a little space to ensure that I can stay warm. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Toss an aluminum soda can in on the hot coals to crystallize and creosote they might have glued the pipes together. A light tap should nock the dry creosote free.
I would guess in an outside the tent scenario taking off the top would allow it to be used as a grill over coals.
The handles look like Bakelite.
@@akbychoice - Thanks! That sounds like good advice. I'll have to try that if it happens again. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
Were you get this
@jackfrosty79ify - I ordered it online directly from King Camp, and had it delivered. I like it so far! Hopefully it will work in the tent as well as my old one did. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
No Thermometer? Go get one, come back & then give us some temperature ratings.
@azclaimjumper - I do have a stove pipe thermometer, but I've never been sure if it gives an accurate reading of how hot the stove is. The fan that I use to circulate the heat says not to let it get too hot. I think that I will get a heat gun thermometer so that I can measure the temperature of the stove and the pipe. Thank you for suggesting that I go get one! And thanks for the comment and watching!!!
