Glad you guys tried this one out. I am really enjoying this game. It reminds me of Star Wars unlimited/40k conquest/blood bowl team manager had a baby. The reserve mechanic is one of my fav mechanics to come out in a ccg in a long time as it’s basically a second hand that can be disrupted and planned against. The theme in the game is the weakest part but I think the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Was hoping you guys would try this out - played a demo this weekend and enjoyed it. Will be interesting to see if people at my store play it. Looks like about 6-8 are interested presently. Other than Magic, my store has pretty robust Lorcana and SWU communities. Hopefully Altered will get a chance to slot in and grow.
I'm digging the art. Lots of video game load screen type of artists they picked. Don't think I'll actually pick up the game but I enjoyed watching it being played.
@27:38 Haha, the game already "lost me" lore-wise.. If both Players are in different locations and they are just exploring.. why can't they both advance? Instead, one stops the other (that is already ahead) from moving forward, when the challenge is the terrain and not the other player? Not to mention the Gigantic keyword, which is an interesting idea design-wise.. but if it is so Gigantic, shouldn't it be meeting itself in the middle? haha Also, not sure how I feel about cards being "discarded so quickly". They designed the game to have a lot of emphasis on the cards and their uniqueness, as well as rarity. But they disintegrate like in Legend of the 5 Rings LCG.. which probably contributes to the game feeling fast, as you tend to see/use fewer cards(?). And at the end, one could say "nothing much happened", so it doesn't contribute to a "narrative" being told with each game. All that is left for me is to see a high-level & customized "pro" deck performing at its best. SUPER interesting design, overall!! Though I'm not particularly confident in this thriving.. much less where I live. It seems too simplistic and fast-paced! Which is nice, as it is quite different! Not for me. It reminding me of Decipher's LotRs core systems is a negative, haha.
been having a ton of fun with this game.
