You could get amino! I'm sure there is one for homeschoolers or one for your interest, and keep a connection with your school friends. But be careful on the internet too. Hope this helped!
I had the same problem. But take it from me when I left I really found out who my real friends really were. Turns out I had none. Take the chance it might work out for the better.
Finally a video that explains it well. I want to attend online school and when I search that the only thing I get is videos made by girls at 480p. Thanks a lot, great video!! Edit: nothing wrong with it being made by girls, just that, as a guy I'd like to see the other perspective as well. Sorry for any misunderstandings. Ok I have been doing online school for 2-3 weeks now and so far I like it. The biggest reasons I wanted online school is because I have anxiety at school and I hate dealing with idiots and embarrassing situations. Plus there are other pros as well like, I get to wake up as late as I want as long as it gets done as apposed to having to wake up at 6:30 to get ready and head off to school. Also you dont need to get ready....unless you want to?. And you get the comfort of your own COZY HOME!. Im doing only language arts as of now but you get out earlier then most kids FOR EXAMPLE I FINISHED MY LESSON TODAY AND I GOT TO BE FREE AT 11 AND I WOKE UP AT ALMOST 9am. Also if you wanted to you could do more work ahead of time and basically plan your off days because all the work was finished before Cons: well none for me its awesome but cons for other people could be they want to be social or they might want to see there friends........... Thats about it
I really want to attend online school but I’m so afraid my parents will reject the idea. I am constantly missing school because of my health and they recognize that but they weren’t raised with all of this new technology and I know they will say I’m just trying to be lazy or that won’t get you in to a good college. I do want to go to college but I’m just so stumped on what to do because I get behind so incredibly fast. In the past 3 weeks of school I’ve missed almost 6 days of school and that is 3 quizzes 1 project 1 test. It is also so hard to catch up with everyone else I just feel like I am always behind in all of my classes ALL THE TIME.
I do online school and also miss a lot of school because of health reasons. It’s really important that you have self control because if you don’t then you can fall behind really quick.
Me and my parents were considering online school for me. Almost every day I come home stressed out with a headache because of things like math and how the kids in my math class are so loud that I get a migraine most of the time. I'm also not doing very well in math, and I want to to better in English but I still am not in the advanced classes. I also think that online school is WAY more flexible and I won't have to worry that much about waking up at sort of ungodly hours if I choose not to, but it depends on what time my classes would start, which is fine as well. As with online school, there's a lot more flexibility and options. It's all self-motivated, which I don't mind, as I think I'd be more motivated to do my works when there's not someone telling me to do it every single day. I'm an extremely independent person and I love being in a nice calming place to do my work (As with probably everyone.) My room is nice and quiet, and it would be an amazing opportunity to do my schoolwork from the place I feel most safe. My uncle actually knows someone who is a principal of an online school, and my parents are talking to her [the principal] about what they think I should go with. I may also try it out over the summer to see if I prefer it over public school. Although I barely talk to anyone inside or outside of school, (I don't really like my "friends" at all; they're kind of just there just people that I can sit with so I don't look as lonely and socially deprived, so I'm pretty lonely.) I still do have lots of things to do at home and my mom was considering I head back to dance as I'm currently on a year or so long hiatus from it, because I'm not sure if I'm ever going back. But my mom said out of the 11 years I was with that dance school, I made friends that I loved, unlike my time at school. It'd mean I would still get social interaction which is scarce for me as I have social anxiety and get really socially drained, pretty quick. (I'm working this out with a therapist though.) What I mentioned earlier about not having friends I can be comfortable around may be one reason I should work with my therapist to help me make more friends as time goes on, but if I go back to dance I will be with people I care about and would want to see again for sure. I still do text them on occasion, too. The only things I'm worried about is leaving the few people I've known since I started school (I've been with the same district for my entire school years.) I'll still text them and everything though, if I care enough. Another thing is that I won't get that "high school experience" like my siblings had. Talking to actual people in person is something I'd need to do in the real world, but I think I can handle things. Plus, I basically hate everyone at school. I've just had a bad experience with those kids, but not the ones I went to my elementary school with. It's mainly the ones that we joined together with in middle school. Unless I decide to switch back to public, which may be awkward, but it's not something I would ever cancel my entire online school plans just to avoid. In conclusion, I may not want to throw away being able to see those people face to face EVERY day, but if I don't like seeing them, and they give me headaches, why bother? I'm not bullied, in fact everyone thinks of me as the nicest one in the grade. But I would prefer to be with my mom and help her out when I'm not doing my schoolwork, as she works from home. I truly believe I can benefit working at home more than I can with a group of kids I am at a breaking point dealing with. If anyone actually read this, thanks for hearing me out. This is probably my longest RUclips comment ever! If only I could to essays like this lmaoo

Phenomenal video my man! I've been doing online school for 1 and a half years now. I've absolutely loved it, and I think you're right about certain people not thriving in an online environment. Personally, I've noticed extremely sociable people tend to have a super hard time succeeding when being alone all day doing their work. As well as people who are extrinsically motivated, it can be hard to stick to a self-set up schedule. I'm more of a rise and grind type of person and an introvert. I actually am MORE social now doing online school because I actually have the energy to hang out with people after school! When I was in a brick and mortar school, I just went to school, came home, and slept. Anyways, thanks for the video!
Im homeschooling soon, and from what i have heard well....Some online schools record your school computer screen. So if your gonna homeschool,i suggest getting a basic computer for school, and a regular one for yourself. Then just cheat on your regular computer or on your phone.
I go. It's fun because I can take side courses on other websites and go deeper than I should, making me WANT to do it. Like Spanish, art courses, and draw while in class so I can focus. The cons: no communication. With some people, they need other people, especially their age to lean on and tell their troubles. I also don't get the chance to take some of my favorite courses, orchestra. I would love to be able to do stuff, like have more people to talk 2 after school hours for non-related stuff. Thank you for reading!
i rather stay home instead of have friends whenever i’m at school and the teacher ask me to talk or participate with what there doing and say something out loud in front of everyone i get anxious and my eyes water ....
I luv how well u put this together. Ppl comments is a lot of help too far as those whom tried some of these online classes. Idk which one to pick yet but I'm starting for myself & children. Really hoping it works out for us. Thanks for this vid😊
Thank you for your post! It has been two years but still useful. This is something I am considering for my daughter and I think she will enjoy seeing your video. :D
thanks sm for this video. I've been considering online school for a while and looking to enroll in K12 California Virtual Academy. It feels awesoe to see a high quality video from someone with experience. :)
Great video. Thanks for sharing! I wish this was available to me when I was in high school, but I would have loved a hybrid option to be honest. Maybe 3 days online only, and 2 days in school, this way you still have the social interaction. But again, great video. I'm a teaching assistant in Germany and this is our current topic of discussion, so I'm going to share your video with my class :)
Finally a video that explains it well. I want to attend online school and when I search that the only thing I get is videos made by girls at 480p. Thanks a lot, great video!!
You did a really great job. I agree with everything you said. The website can be so slow to load my live sessions and tests. Thanks so much now I don't feel that much alone. :)
i just wanted to let anyone that is considering online school in 2019/2020, the website is much MUCH better now! also the website depends on the school you chose as there are many different companies. Cheers!
Second! I've been doing online school for 1.5 years now and I've had almost 0 issues with the site. Occasionally it can slow down, but never to the extent like in the video.
I did 5 years of online school with two different programs plus a year of homeschooling with a textbook-based curriculum from K-12. My experience was very different from the narrator's. First of all, online school is often a way of homeschooling. In fact, short of Connection Academy which stated explicitly that they are not "a homeschool," every online program I have stumbled upon described themselves as a homeschool program at one point. The increase in online learning solutions means parents don't have to teach every lesson and grade every quiz; their job would be to keep the student on track since the lessons are taught online. Personally, I think this is an incredible bonus because online video lessons mean you are being taught by professional teachers instead of your parents, who may be unfamiliar with the material or short in time. This may seem ironic-why would a parent decide to homeschool his/her child if they don't have the time to do so? The rise of online learning solutions permits a greater variety of students to study from home. They are not reliant just on their textbooks or parents anymore so even the busiest of parents can consider homeschooling. Secondly, most online schools are very flexible. In my experience, everything was student-paced so there were no specific "school days" and "off days." That means there are such options available to potential homeschoolers-play in the snow all you want! However, with this privilege comes a responsibility: since you might not have instructors firmly enforcing the rules, it is up to you to enforce them or you might not finish a grade in time. Thirdly, like the narrator said, fixing the website is "theoretically possible," so it should not be a deterrent for homeschooling families. I can sympathize with this problem, however; when I was browsing online schools, my first question was, "Will I be able to study well in this online environment?" If I didn't because the interface was confusing or there was too much reading material versus recorded lectures, then I wouldn't feel comfortable and therefore do well. My favorite online solutions are offered by Edgenuity, and there are at least two providers who offer that curriculum to homeschooling families. Hence, there's no reason to quit online school just because the layout is not "good" or intuitive enough. There's an online school out there that will be more than satisfactory! The one con I didn't agree with was "communication is hard." One reason why many families opt for homeschooling is that their child wasn't getting enough communication in a regular school! I went to a brick-and-mortar school as well, so I know how hard it can be to get a teacher for a few minutes when they have thirty other kids to teach. It is not exactly easy for a teacher to take "one look at the classroom" and read by the students' faces how well they got the material. I had some fantastic teachers who would make sure I got the material, but I often had to schedule a time with them outside of the allotted class time to get their help. On the other hand, with homeschooling I can repeat or rewind the lesson as many times as I need to; repeat a quiz if I didn't like my result; get one-on-one time with my teachers whenever I do contact them. If a student does not like "texting" a teacher, then why not call him instead? It's hard to believe there wouldn't be a "call" feature for a teacher in an online school; again, that's unique to a given website and there are plenty of online schools that do allow such correspondence. I agree that online school/homeschooling is not for everyone. Brick-and-mortar schools aren't for everyone, either. However, the benefits of online school apply virtually to anyone. No matter what a student's situation is or where he lives, he can benefit from the flexibility, easy access to materials, and more one-on-one time with teachers.
Wow! Excellent presentation, well thought out, I hope you counted this as schoolwork because this could definitely count as "Technology"- my seventh-grader just started k12 this year-so far, we love it--Thanks, dude!
My coworker is thinking of doing online schooling for her youngest son. This is good information. I did college online and a lot of the issues that you are talking back was the same that I encountered with my school, but they fixed it.
I'm considering online school for my rising third grader. I realize there are some big differences, but just getting the gist helped a lot. Thanks so much for posting!
I think k12 is a great school if your child is great in school stuff, they gave me a laptop when I joined k12, you don’t need to get up early, it’s pretty nice
iv been attending K-12 for a lot of my school year (1st grade to now) and you described it vary well and one con/pro that i would add is that the website is constantly updating yha its good but also it then becomes new to every one. BTW even tho they have been updating their website a lot they STILL have not fixed the speed problem.
I wish everyone could go to online schools, it's safer and as a parent you get to be more involved with your kids education. I pulled my 11 year old out of middle school last year because of safety issues and I initially thought I'd only let him do online school for the remainder of middle school but I'm really leaning to never sending him or his sister's to a brick and mortar school again. I just have to find the time to take them out to socialize and make friends.
Mr. Charles Snippy is it cheaper than actual schools like universities? considering the boardinghouse rent, bus fair or gas, lunch money as oppose to just staying at home and only paying for the wifi & tuition?
@@happylife2150 Well universities will cost you an arm and a leg so anything is cheaper in comparison but as far as K-12 online vs. K-12 brick and mortar, yeah I'd say it's cheaper because you save on uniforms, back to school shopping and bus fare or gas money.
guys do FLVS! you don’t just have to be in Florida. I’m able to take sophomore classes as a freshmen, allowing me to get far ahead of my grade level alongside my traditional schedule. i really recommend it!
Connections academy sucks, I did it for a year, then they rejected me and my sister for not doing the school in that program that year. Then we did K12 they have a way better ciruculum
What state are you in? I'm in Georgia, and I love it sooo much. The teachers are super nice, the classes are in-depth, and the LiveLessons are so often that I never have a question left when I'm wondering something. I have heard that it varies between states, but I hope K12 suits you well!
@@gianellaportillo12 it's really nice, the teachers are great, the setup of the schools classes looks modern and not older. It's really awesome, you can work at your own pace. The teachers respond and are super sweet and understanding but don't take advantage of that! Overall I'd give my school a 10/10 because I'm so happy with choosing it!
I want to attend an online school but there are things that I don’t want to miss like my friends, global trips in band, and other things. I think online school would help me more but things are holding me back
Connections academy is very strict, K12 is a LOT more flexible and they’re way more helpful than the teachers at connections, well, ohioconnections anyway
I do the same as you but through a different program we meet in blackboard for live sessions and do mostly homework, Its called Williamsburg Academy. Our courses are college prep classes and it's really really hard. But with gymnastics its so worth it.
This is how college is. I have 4 classes. It's hybrid. You meet for class for like hour and half. And your due assignments by Sunday night or Monday night
It depends on which site you use. I honestly don't care about the cons. Sure, some questions are kind of...incorrect, but you still learn what you need to learn. The biggest reason why I hated public schools was because I had to go at the pace of other people that are less intelligent. I was taking integral calculus at 15, so don't be insulted if I sound like I am being insulting. Now I can complete classes in about a week and immediately enroll in the most challenging courses...which I still complete in 2-5 weeks.
I have a question, I’m British and want to do online homeschooling because my anxiety is caused from going to school, my mum doesn’t think the uk allow that, and she isn’t so sure about it, can anyone tell me if it does work in the uk and how it works
I have anxiety but my parents dont think its as bad as Im " claming " it to be so im hoping with showing them something like this and giving them a little reasoning i hope i can transition to this.
International Schooling is supposedly the best online school! I am a student and I know much better it is than a traditional school. It has helped me a lot with my grades and my overall holistic development!
Hi yes I love this video! But there are soooo many rules!and there are the teachers like algebra and science to where they are very strict, about how well you understand and how quickly you understand. I got a call from my algebra teacher on the first week of the semester asking my mother if she should just remove me and asking if I even wanted to go to college because if I don’t this a waste of time for being in her class! This made my mother very angry because the teacher said I was to slow for the class on the FIRST week of school and my FIRST year online school and public, I have been homeschooled until I got high school and I’m not enjoying my experience so far with K12 I am half way through this semester and the only thing I have been enjoying is my weekends off... I miss being able to go to co-ops with he same pace and no over dues and people I know and trust I talk to. I really only like the councillors but that’s there job sooo it’s kind of a bummer and each time I got to a meet up the teachers put me with all the girls but I don’t get along with girls as I do with boys In our group. But I don’t want to risk having a worse experience in an irl public school...
These are all true I attend a online school called Connections Academy it's very flexible but it can also be very confusing at times but I still love online school better than public school
I got my mom to agree to online schooling, but she said I have to figure out most the stuff about it and provide her with the information because she doesn't have time to. My biggest problem is actually finding a good school because the multiple companies and schools makes it very confusing. Edit: Also in the end I chose Great Leaks Cyber Academy through Connexus and enrolling has been nothing but hell. They take forever to respond and keep asking for information we already provided several times. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to switch to a school through K12. Edit 2: 9th grade by the way
Since google doesn’t have the answer can someone answer my question. If I switched to online for just one semester can I go back to normal in person school after summer ends
Also if u are doing a test for a certain subject can't u just look up the answes on google or on your phone or something like that or is that not possble
I have mental illness and other medical conditions. Making it difficult to get to an actual place. I think online study is great for people with medical conditions. Wish I had it bk in my study days.
I’m between a crossroads. I wanna have friends but I wanna be at home. I have anxiety and it’s so abnoxious when it comes to public school...

Been searching videos about online school and yours is the best I've seen. Thanks
If you have true friends they will support what is best for you and hang out on weekends since I'm sure work during the week is the norm for everyone
I totally appreciate the honesty reviews from someone who's doing it!
I'm starting online school in 2 days and this looks pretty cool thanks for the good breakdown
Same happens for me, except I have full blown anxiety attacks : (
I luv how well u put this together.
Ppl comments is a lot of help too far as those whom tried some of these online classes. Idk which one to pick yet but I'm starting for myself & children. Really hoping it works out for us. Thanks for this vid😊
This information is super interesting. I want to express my personal appreciation for the time and work you invested in producing it. Thanks so much!
I’m a Mom of 4 K12 kids. Great video! You explained things perfectly! 👍
Great video, very informative and you kept it really interesting :)!! Nice job, mate.
I almost clicked off when it buffered
it was so frustrating hahaa
SAME!!
Who is here bec of the coronavirus
Me
5:02 for like 2 seconds I thought that was my phone😂🤦♀️
So helpful, thank you so much. Ive been thinking about joining a online and on campus school, and i love this video because it explained so much. :)
He's telling real stuff guys everything is true
This video convinced my parents to enroll me on online school. lol i love u.
i am soooo jealous that you live in maine!! maine is so gorgeous!
Due to corona virus we might be doing online school this seems cool and I’m excited
I know this is old, but this is very helpful especially with such great editing
Great explanation. I just did 9th grade. Best school out there
I wish my parents would let me 😕 I’m begging them but I hope they say yes
I am here for research on writing a paper about online school [because pandemic]. I can't thank you enough for this video.
Very nice video. Thank you for making it.
I have one question: what about your final exams? How do those work?
iv been attending K-12 for a lot of my school year (1st grade to now) and you described it vary well and one con/pro that i would add is that the website is constantly updating yha its good but also it then becomes new to every one. BTW even tho they have been updating their website a lot they STILL have not fixed the speed problem.
i am starting my 5th year of k12 and i still love it!
There was a ad about school before this vid.....
An*
I had one too, it was for Silicone Valley High School
@@happylife2150
Well universities will cost you an arm and a leg so anything is cheaper in comparison but as far as K-12 online vs. K-12 brick and mortar, yeah I'd say it's cheaper because you save on uniforms, back to school shopping and bus fare or gas money.
Thanks for this great video! I showed my mom this and she might let me do it!
guys do FLVS! you don’t just have to be in Florida. I’m able to take sophomore classes as a freshmen, allowing me to get far ahead of my grade level alongside my traditional schedule. i really recommend it!
This helped me so much
Connections academy sucks, I did it for a year, then they rejected me and my sister for not doing the school in that program that year.
If k12 doesn't work out, try Valiant Academy. I love that platform!
Ava Salazar how is Valiant academy?
@@gianellaportillo12 it's really nice, the teachers are great, the setup of the schools classes looks modern and not older. It's really awesome, you can work at your own pace. The teachers respond and are super sweet and understanding but don't take advantage of that! Overall I'd give my school a 10/10 because I'm so happy with choosing it!
Ava Salazar do you have to pay and if yes how much? And can you graduate early ?
i’m showing this to my mom, thanks.
Watching this because of the coronavirus, so I can see how will my classes go during quarantine.
I’m going to do homeschooling soon, i’m starting mid year so i know what to expect now. Thank you!
I might as well
This video helped a lot, thank you so much:)
I’m gonna show this to my parents!
Thank you for this video ❤️
I just have to say online school looks AMAZING
LMAO at the buffering section -- Very funny and effective.
OMG THIS EXPLAINS MY K12 PROBLEMS!
5:02 my tablet has taught me patience because this happens every day for me, but I can't get a better electronic yet
they have made it better but still same times slow but the curriculum and the website is much improved
I want to attend an online school but there are things that I don’t want to miss like my friends, global trips in band, and other things. I think online school would help me more but things are holding me back
This was so informative thanks!
ayyye another mainer! Awesome vid im thinking of changing from connections academy to k12.
Breshia Ballerina is connections academy bad? i think connections academy is better from what ive heard of
ayyyyeeee
Connections academy is very strict, K12 is a LOT more flexible and they’re way more helpful than the teachers at connections, well, ohioconnections anyway
did you end up switching to K12? I go to maine connections academy too and it has been super hard! I was thinking about switching.
I personally think connections is better but that may differ from state to state or on the personal experience people have had with it
what a great video!! way better than most adults make lol
Thank you so much bro you helped me so much many many thanks
I been thinking of doing online school but I have a question, how will I take my s.a.t or a.c.t
Great job!! Thanks
Thank you for making this video :)
Well it really depends on what program u use
I have anxiety but my parents dont think its as bad as Im " claming " it to be so im hoping with showing them something like this and giving them a little reasoning i hope i can transition to this.
Fellow mainer!!!!! I go here too. I love it
International Schooling is supposedly the best online school! I am a student and I know much better it is than a traditional school. It has helped me a lot with my grades and my overall holistic development!
I’m going to be online schooled this year and excited!!
Ava Dexter how do you apply for it
Araceli Diaz you can look up local online school programs, on google, if that doesn’t help let me know:)
You need more subs your videos are very high quality.
So what do I do when it says there’s not any schools where I live available.
Ok now I’m kinda excited about online school
I really want to try it because i want a change from my local school
I was wondering of the bugs are still there since this was made in 2016
Hi yes I love this video!
Sorry went on a rant and didn’t proof read ...
It depends on which one u choose
If you see this please explain: in these times will lausd in California in LOS ANGELES give students F's please help!!
These are all true I attend a online school called Connections Academy it's very flexible but it can also be very confusing at times but I still love online school better than public school
How do you get elective credits on online school? Hopefully you can answer.
