I’m not that much of a taxidermy expert but two options are to steam and stroke feathers back into shape. Bent or broken feathers where the quill is damaged requires removal and replacement. You might can pull feathers from a spare mount you use for “parts” or maybe from a hidden side.
This is an excellent video for fixing bent feathers and reconnecting the barbs. It happens to be in spanish, but the visual is really good, you don't really need the soundtrack. You can turn your CC subtitles on to english but the translation is pretty bad. But great video.
Very helpful hints! Thanks. My green heron was mounted very nicely in about 1870, and looks good except for being dark and dusty. Is there anything I need to be mindful of when cleaning such an old bird? Also, the neck got bent slightly while being moved in the car recently. Any special way to bend it back?
I would think the technique used here with lacquer thinner would help. Maybe roll cotton swaps across fur. You don’t want to soak the skin and get the internal stuffing or foam wet.
