It would be like wayne letting lil pump get on one of his songs and then all he can say about it afterwards was “Wayne changed his verse”. The beef behind the song, was bc Originally Nicki said in her verse if "Cardi the QB I'm Nick Lombardi", but Quavo made Nicki change it to his name bc Cardi felt some type of way, even tho that was a compliment as Nicki meant she would coach Cardi, but Cardi did interviews painting Nicki as a bad guy.
It was also further fuelled by the fact Nicki and Cardi shot the mv on diff days bc Nicki was shooting w Quavo, but Quavo told Nicki he couldn't make the shoot that Nicki and Cardi were meant to shoot so Nicki had to shoot on a diff day and the media made it out that Nicki didnt like Cardi so shot her scenes on a diff day
Not sure if someone else said it but the other big part of this was after the song came out, it was Cardi who kept mentioning that Nicki changed her verse (as if Cardi wasn’t the one that asked the label to make that happen) and Nicki took that as disrespect because of her status in the game. It would be like wayne letting lil pump get on one of his songs and then all he can say about it afterwards was “Wayne changed his verse”. Unfortunately a lot of their beef has been from Cardi making things up or getting mad at things that didn’t happen, but people sided with her because she was the new popular girl and Nicki was being painted out as this bitter artists who’s time was done. All these years later it’s great to see Nicki still dominating and outdoing the other girls, gives me hope that talent will continue to be rewarded even in the face of popular trends.
