Hi :) this was exactly the video I needed as I am planning my exchange semester to ESSEC next fall and am so unsure on where to live, Cergy vs. Paris, because I feel like you won't really be in the city that often when staying in Cergy. I really enjoyed your other ESSEC video as well! Do you have any associations/clubs to recommend joining as an exchange/international student to make some friends at uni?
Oh yeah, how many contact/class hours would you say you had daily/weekly? Because I worry commuting would be difficult when classes are really spread throughout the day with large gaps for example...
Thank you, glad the videos helped you and hope you subscribe 🤗 Unfortunately I didn't get to join any clubs because of covid and I was there for a short time but there are many and they introduce some of them during the induction day!
I am currently in the process of applying for my abroad semester and I was told by my French friends that the Uni is supposed to be really good, however I really wanna have a cosmopolitan/metropolitan experience in my study abroad (if I even get the chance to go) and I fear that in Cergy I won’t really get that despite being close to Paris so I am really torn as to what I should do. Would you say the Uni workload was too high to travel a lot to Paris or was it rather due to COVID? Because that was another point I read about, that attendance was mandatory so if you had a shitty schedule you were not really able to travel to Paris much... thanksss for the impressions tho, it really verified my observations so far!!
The workload is DEFINITELY NOTTT an issue hahaha I can’t stress that enough!! But really there was barely any work to be done! You do get to choose your classes and in doing so you can plan out your own timetable which means you can have a long weekend every week or however you’d like to space out your days! You definitely won’t get the metropolitan experience in Cergy but as long as you make the effort to always go into Paris you’ll have a good time. For me the only issue was Covid curfews and ofc like I mentioned that the last train is at 9pm🙄 good luck and hope your exchange goes well! Make sure you subscribe to my channel for weekly uploads and Paris updates 🤗
Hi, I am deciding if going to essec by car or by airplane. I'm from north-east Italy. What do you suggest to do? Is it convenient to have a car at Cergy? Maybe to reach Paris in the weekend or to go to gyms/supermarkets in Cergy
The gym and supermarket were walking distance from my particular accommodation but maybe you'd prefer to drive. Around Cergy it's fine to drive but maybe it's easier to take the train into the centre of paris (parking and traffic reasons).
hi i want to go to essec for my 2 years of master. I also want to have an apprenticeship and still have a social life. Do you think it's worth it for me to find an appart in paris (since i eventually will live there after my studies) and take the train everyday for school or do you think i should stay in the accomodation and try to find an apprenticeship in cergy (which will be much more complicated because there's more job opportunities in Paris)
I'm planning on staying in uni accom when I go ESSEC, but obviously I'll still wanna go out on nights out in Paris. Do you know what times the trains run until? Thanks a lot for the vid, helped lots
I mentioned this in the vid, I think the last train back to Cergy is around 10pm but there is a night bus / taxi /uber etc just obvs a pain in the ass that trains end so soon ! Good luck and hope you subscribe to my channel
Don't cancel her studies based on Paris' safety - I am now studying in London and even here in the evening (just like many cities) you need to be careful, especially as a woman! However, I was sharing my opinion with regards to how I felt, personally, when I was taking the metro in Paris and more specifically Cergy. There is an extremely high pick-pocketing rate so as long as your daughter stays vigilant at all times and does not walk alone when it is dark. Hope that helps.
Hi Natalie, what a great explanation it was! Im travelling to cergy within a couple of weeks and im hesitating as regards to stay in the Les Hauts residence or in a private acommodation. Do you think Les Hauts was fine in terms of social life, price-quality relation and so forth?
So for the train ticket I used to get a monthly Navigo card which is €75 and you can travel as much as you want (which is great if you’d like to go into central paris often). Can’t remember how much a single ticket cost though sorry
Thank you! Hope you subscribe to my channel ☺️ I think it really is down to personally preference.. I was in ESSEC during covid times so socialising wasn’t completely different - obviously then it was better to be in the residence because clubs and bars etc were all closed so the only socialising was done in the common areas etc but staying in private accommodation in a more central location is what I would do personally if I were to go back now because then you don’t have to worry about how to get back home at night all the way back to Cergy if you go out etc also I’m sure when you make friends you’ll be meeting more to socialise in central Paris. But again it’s completely up to you and whether you want more of the constant socialising and being able to get to university quickly.
@@its.nathalievictoria thank you so much for your detailed response! Furthermore, I wanted to ask you if Essec refunds you the guarantee deposit and if you are allowed to invite someone at the residence. Greetings :)
Hey! I have already paid for a room at les linandes, because I was stressed and in a hurry to find accommodation. And I am kind of second-guessing my choice and thinking maybe I should switch to the hautes? Is there a bus alternative to walking from the linandes to the campus and how much time did the train take from the hautes? Also, the danger in walking at that part of the city is stressing me out, considering I'm a female
Can you please write down the names of the student residences? I don’t speak French so it is a bit difficult for me to understand the name of the dorms. Thank youuu
I only did an exchange so I’m sure it’s different for people who did a full degree there! I personally struggled getting any job in Paris though as I don’t have a masters. Hope that helps and please don’t forget to subscribe to my channel 💕
Subscribed to your channel when you had done KCL tour now this one.. So good to see you moving and growing.

I do agree though that Cergy is unsafe and also the RER doesnt have late times so then you'll be less rushed with a car

Why did u say that cergy or paris is not a safe place ?? Coz hopefully my daughter will also going to study in essec 2023, shall i cancel everything??

How much does a train ticket cost to go to Essec from Les Hautes? Greetings from Argentina.

Hi! Which ALEGESSEC accomodation would you say has the most international/exchange students?
All of them had! I found that they did a good job placing exchange students together! Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel 💕
