  • Some offshore Somerset fishing, likely close to St. James Church then a glimpse of the Ferry Terminal sign and the cruise ship Brasil at dock in Hamilton. A quick look at City Hall, then it’s a ride inside a green bus (not Pink like today) and some sights on the way to the town of St. Georges.
A long walk around the Heritage Site, including the Stocks and the White Horse Tavern. A good look around the Old Town, a good look inside St. Peters Church, and its residential streets Silk Alley, Petticoat Lane, Barbers Alley, and Featherbed Alley.
A stop at the Gunpowder Cavern, including a look outside from the inside tunnel and the lovely front grounds. The next stop is a wander around the ruins of the Unfinished Church and I don’t think you are supposed to be moving the blocks around!
While both the Unfinished Church and the Gunpowder Cavern are still standing today, both have been long closed for safety reasons. Just 2 more unfortunate victims of the lack of maintenance and neglect that so many of Bermuda’s attractions have succumbed to.
Back in Hamilton, on Church Street opposite the A-One Superette which still has a residence and garden next to it. Today, that is all a wall of concrete that is the Washington Mall.
Moped Practice on South Shore ends at the Elbow Beach Hotel with a look around the pool and the hillside cottages and gardens.
Time to go home on the SS Ocean Monarch, departing from St. Georges, and a Manhattan arrival ends this May 1965 trip.
