They don’t have to end if you play the game yourself! :) I actually have played 3 of the longer games John played on his channel on my PS4, that way you can “experience” the game again in a way. :D
Important info: Before finishing the game, be sure to do the DLC and anything else extra because it will boot you into new game+ and overwrite your save after the credits. Still have a ways to go and you get a dialogue choice before the end (you'll know when you're there). If you can't find where the DLC starts have no shame in looking it up. You already have the item for it and it's a bit cryptic to enter. DLC is some of the best content in the game if you can make it past the first boss!
Oh shit really? I didn't know that at all. I'm usually wearing high frenzy resistant clothes when facing Winter Lanturns and carry as much sedatives as possible so I didn't know that. 3 odd years and I'm still learning new things about FromSoft games. Thanks m8 🤟😎🤟

yes, that's what light does, it goes through stuff. Have you guys never seen the full moon on a cloudy night? If it's bright enough, it will appear to be in front of the clouds.
ive never seen somebody so thoughtful about figuring out this game’s lore in their first playthrough. you’re killing it john, thanks for the good series ^_^
I love it so much! I'm so salty this is ps4 exclusive.. when it first came out, I spent the night at a friend's house and beat it. But I haven't played since, and considering I've beaten all the other soulsborne games like half a dozen times, I sure wish I could play it again
I own a PlayStation now because I assume if Fromsoft is ever to make another exclusive, it’s going to be with Sony. But it’s a real shame there’s so many people who literally haven’t been able to play this game, including fans who’ve played almost every other instalment.
34:08 Its safe there because of the incense, it wards off the beasts. You can see incense all over Yharnam although you can easily mistake it for mist. I think earlier in the game they mentioned it if I recall correctly.
oh yeah! they say things related to scent in a loooot of areas, most notably in oedon chapel. the dweller says something about the incense masking their scent. it's interesting though! learning about the lore is so neat tbh
I always play these games in severe fear of losing any blood echoes. But upon watching John routinely lose 5 to 10k, and still be fine, I realize it's all good. Kinda makes me relax more during my playthrough.
Re: frenzy Certain clothes give you higher frenzy resistance (basically makes the bar longer so it takes more exposure to get the effect). Higher insight also lowers your frenzy resistance so if you're having a lot of trouble with it you can buy things from the fountain in the hunters dream that takes insight. There are consumables that you'll find later in the game which act like antidotes but for frenzy. The way frenzy works is that once that bar is filled it takes 80% (I think) of your *max* HP. So once you see that bar filling, the only thing you can do until you get access that consumable I mentioned is just to heal and get your health to >80% Also, re: parrying. A good rule of thumb is that human-sized enemies can be parried. So Cleric Beast, Vicar Amelia, Undead Giant cannot (to my knowledge) be parried, but Gasgoine can. BSB is a bit of an exception because it can be parried even though he's pretty big. A lot of the really big beasts can still be visceraled though. Usually you have to hit them enough times in the head or break their limbs which will cause them to stagger just like parrying would. As for bolt paper: fire is good against beasts, bolt is good against "kin" (you haven't seen too many too far except the brain sucker in cathedral ward. Basically, if they look like a squid alien, use bolt).
“It’s hard to hold off... to be honest, I kinda wanna just keep playing...” Glad to see that John’s finally getting sucked into it, and not just for the video’s sake!👏👏👏
Beast Blood Pellets are only op if you're veeerrrry familiar with the game. They temporarily enable the 'Beasthood' gauge, which fills up whenever you deal damage; the higher it is, the more damage you deal, and the more damage you *take*, to the point where having a decent amount of it will make almost anything a one-hit kill on you. They're absolutely invaluable to speedrunners but for anyone less familiar with a boss' attacks they're usually a quick ticket back to your lantern. Always happy to see these uploads. :> Thanks John.
"He literally just backed up in there, I didn't even push him. (giggles) He just fell back there like an idiot." - John being interviewed by police about the suspicious death of that poor, poor man
Quick Tip, the more insight you have (past 15) the more enemies some areas will have as well as having more attack patterns, but after 30 you begin to see the world for what it really is.... Also frenzy is affected by your insight.
@@darthlynx5792 it's not that they're insane, it's the knowledge or truth they learn that drives them insane. The more you see the more you want to look away type deal.
I used to like DS1 because I enjoyed the story and lore more than Demon Souls (my first souls game). But I'm a sucker for eldritch horror so this game skyrocketed to my top fav. The more ignorant you are the more 'normal' the world seems but the more insight you have you can now see the true horror of the world.
Important frenzy tip: despite how that particular Cathedral Ward enemy’s frenzy works, you do not actually have to be hit for frenzy to work. Certain enemies inflict frenzy by simply looking at you, and it builds up quickly and takes most of your health when the bar is full. The best course of action to deal with it is to avoid line of sight with enemies who inflict it by looking at you, and with the Cathedral Ward enemies it’s best to keep a distance. Most of the time, if you’ve been hit by frenzy, it’s gonna fill up the bar whether you try to stop it or not. Loving the series, hope this helps, John!
To add to this, some outfits can provide better frenzy resistance, meaning you have more time to break LoS before the meter can peak, and can also help prevent the proc. Definitely recommend seeing which outfit you have currently that maxes this to help you with some enemies you might face.
Combat tip: That old hunter's bone you found in the workshop is a reusable item that consumes 3 bullets, and buffs your ability to dash, have no fear to use it and test some advanced dodging! Btw,same goes with the beast roar, those are active items, infinite uses But you'll need to invest some points into arcane to unlock their use if you want it.
Combat tip, when you parry someone with a bullet, dodge forward to make up the distance in time for the Vis. Attack, it's faster than running up to them.
saying "it seems like it'd be super easy to get lost here" when you're barely at the beginning of the forbidden woods killed me lol like you don't even KNOW
Its so funny that John says that Bloodbornes enemies remind him of RE4. Especially considering that RE8 has some major Bloodborne vibes going just from the screenshots and videos they've released. Wheel of inspiration I guess.
Hey John id just like to point out that its refreshing to hear you say " i just want to keep on playing". I hope your having fun because you need more of that for yourself and your channel. Thanks so much for the yearrrrrs of wonderful entertainment and i am just loving this playthrough lolol. An mot of all again, that you are having fun is the best part. :)
My usual "strats" for any enemies: Try to get behind them as much as possible (mini-bosses/bosses have animations that can back-kick you though, be careful). Dodge by side-stepping then quickly turn around behind them, whack them once or twice and back up, rinse and repeat while being cautious. I remember you asking for advice dealing with non-beast humanoids: See tips above. Also practise parry with your left-hand weapon, invest points in Skill and deal max damage using Visceral. Other than that it's just a matter of memorising enemy attack patterns and how to dodge them. Good luck!
John when you first uploaded the fist video of this series I watched it on a whim thinking I wouldn’t like the type of game but let me tell you...I’ve fallen in love with this series! I look forward to every gameplay and seeing you uploaded made my day since I have been looking forward to it! Thank you!! :)
Bru im LvL 52 first playtrough and have about 50 insight. I just consumed the Madmans Knowledge every time i picked one up. Didnt knew it could work against me😅 but so far i had not that many problems with it but we will see whats coming haha
It's really fun to watch a newbie playing Bloodborne since such a long time, reminding me of my first playthrough, the suspense, the rage, the WTF. Though sometimes I feel the urge to push you into some dark abyss (which at some point will happen, no worries), when you're not searching thoroughly, rushing by more or less important stuff or info. But in the same moment I realize "Been there, done that - or not". How often did I make the same stupid mistakes, fell for the greed and the one more hit, that would finally kill me. It's all part of having your own experience with the game. It's unique for everyone as you use different weapons, different runes, different outfit, different playing style. Hell, even the boss fights feel different for everyone. In my first playthrough I didn't have problems with bosses, that others found super-hard, while I got stuck with the "easy-peasy" ones. The great thing is - contrary to a lot of other good games that loose their charm after you finished them - Bloodborne makes you eager to do the NG+ (up to NG+7 as you might know. I'm at +6 now) to figure out all the different story-lines and endings. Not to mention the weird and thrilling Lovecraft-induced story that you have to put together by the breadcrumbs From Software throws at you. Well, when you're finished you'll have a lot of theories and explanations to read. It's hilarious how people still talk about the possible story behind Bloodborne which probably will never ever fit 100%, unless Miyazaki and his team decide to tell us. Which they won't. And they shouldn't, as it would spoil the fun. Now that said, unlike others, I will keep watching you struggle (or not) without giving you any hints or do this' or do thats about better (or easier) playstyle or about the stuff you missed. I'm sure I will keep cringing often and shaking my head uncontrollably at some points, but I think you really need to figure everything out by yourself, including all the possible mistakes you will make and all the punishment you will receive for it. But rejoice, I still might be around when you decide to ring the Small Resonant Bell to get help. I rang it a LOT!
John! Beast Blood Pellets only work with physical damage! You must unequip your fire blood gem in order to have physical damage. Physical damage scales with your Strength stat!!!
Hey John! This has probably been mentioned in other comments but regarding combat, there are two moves that I'd suggest trying out as they made my life a lot easier playing through: 1) Backstep dodge + R1: If you dodge backwards and press R1 immediately, your character will perform a unique attack that closes the distance dodged. Useful for enemies that move after they attack you, i.e. doggos. 2) Jumping attack: If you press forward and R2 at the same time (tap them simultaneously) your character will jump forward and attack. I used this a LOT during my playthrough as it quickly closes distance and often staggers enemies. You can do this, dodge back, and repeat for a lot of slower enemies. Enjoying these videos so much! Watching them has made me boot up another playthrough myself and I'm playing it simultaneous to yours for full effect. Keep up the good work!
Hi John!, You've made some much progress! congrats! 1 quick tip: the waning fire gem you equipped to your saw cleaver changed the scaling of your weapon from strength to Arcane, try switching that gem on and off and you will notice that your weapon's attack rating switches back and forth to physical damage (which scales with your strength stat) to fire damage (which scales with your Arcane stat). the weapon cannot scale with both at the same time so the fire gem is effectively turning off all your physical attack gems you've equipped.
Damn. John really said “fuck it” and went straight into hard mode by using all that madman’s knowledge. Gonna have a rough time against enemies that inflict frenzy. But should be alright if/when he learns those enemies’ attack patterns and doesn’t get hit. At the rate he is going, pretty sure he is capable of making it through even with the reduction in frenzy resistance and beasthood (which he hasn’t used beast pellets yet, so the latter won’t hurt his combat ability). This is gonna be fun. Never had that much insight this early on, so interested to see the differences.
You're now caught up to where I am! Minus one random alternative boss. I hate the woods. It's so long after that shortcut and so many things can kill me super easy lol. And unlike a certain mob in Gaol, I can't cheese the ones further into the woods by getting them stuck on walls and using overhead attacks with big weapons. Though you did take out the first boss of the chalice and I haven't touched that because I thought you only get one shot at it for some reason...so maybe I'll give it a try now after seeing you start it. You're doing REALLY well...at least to me. I'm like 20 levels higher than you, but I don't feel like I kill some of the same mobs nearly as fast/easily. Though I have a crap ton of blood vials banked...so maybe I'm just too...defensive when I fight. Look forward to next video!
I still love this series and am super enjoying it John! Bolt paper is good versus things that aren't beasts, ie, things that when you kill them fade away into blue mist. I want to add that the crows can't fly because they've glutted themselves on all the corpses and are too heavy. That's also why they drop pebbles because the pebbles look like eyeballs so the crows eat them too.
I love your cockiness towards the monsters, and then almost immediate regret when the game throws something stronger at you lol These videos are super entertaining, and it's great to see you having fun! :D
1:00:34 I was waiting for this exact moment. I knew John's reaction to the snake head men would be priceless. Though watching them attack makes my entire body recoil. They're like spider legs with faces. DX
Spoiler-free combat tip about Frenzy: There are three ways to mitigate and prevent the instantaneous damage. In order from least to most advisable, they are healing to full HP before the Frenzy activates, using a sedative to nullify current Frenzy buildup, and abusing visceral attack invulnerability. Healing and sedatives will keep you alive, but they consume precious resources. Blood vials aren't scarce generally speaking, but having less of them between checkpoints is not ideal. Sedatives, on the other hand, are a limited resource without farming them from two specific enemies. The upside is preserving your immediate blood vial reserve, so it's best to use them in an unknown area you think will give you trouble. That said, it's most effective to parry an enemy during Frenzy buildup, then time your visceral attack so the Frenzy activates during the animation. While locked in the animation, you cannot take damage from outside sources (the parried enemy is also immune to some sources of damage, such as another hunter's attacks). Fortunately, the humanoid enemies that induce Frenzy can be parried relatively easily thanks to generous parry windows on their attacks. Most other sources of Frenzy are easily avoided once you are familiar with them. The only small issue with parrying is the use of QS bullets, but I find them cheaper and more plentiful than blood vials. Also, you may happen upon Caryll Runes that give you more QS bullets, in one way or another. I hope this helps.
Concerning insight, different changes in the world require vastly different amounts of it to become apparent. You still cant properly see the grabbing monster with 45 but some very minor changes already started to appear when you got about 20, for example growths on enemies' lanterns in the Cathedral Ward
Hey John! You mentioned there might be some stuff you missed in Forbidden Woods- there’s an obscure side path near the caged dogs (near the house who gave you the tonsil stone). It’s a very interesting side path. An item there gives you access to a new area.
Combat Tip: Not sure if anyone told you this but if you press R2 and Forward on the L stick simultaneously, you'll do a jumping attack. Also each weapon has a different moveset with R2, R1 and L2. Also when running (holding O) and pressing O again does an additional jump/dodge roll to end your run! Still catching up with the play through so far but enjoying it! Good luck!
An important tip! Attaching an elemental gem, like fire, into a weapon means the weapon now scales with your Arcane Stat and not Dexterity or Strength. It means you won’t get any damage bonuses from Str and Dex. Fire paper doesn’t override this though and just adds a flat bonus.
Hi John! Some answers: - You can't really parry large bosses like the Undead Giant or the Blood-Starved Beast, for example (human-sized bosses like Gascoigne you can still parry). You can still get viscerals on larger bosses by staggering them in their weak points. The Undead Giant had a huge cyst on its leg and when you struck it at 22:10, that's why you could get a visceral. The weak points are not terribly obvious, and I tend to just luck out on getting viscerals, but striking a long-legged skinny legend like Darkbeast Paarl on her boney legs is a bit more intuitive, and that's why you were able to stagger her so much. In general, the gun won't get you a stagger on a larger non-human boss. - If you ever want to isolate an enemy without attracting others, try throwing a pebble at them. Quite thrilling. - The Beast Blood Pellets will fill your Beast meter (you were correct), multiplying the power of your attacks the higher it gets. They're great against bosses. You fill them up by attacking people more (feeding off of the love of the hunt, or something). - Also this is not combat-related, but you should look up pictures of the Body Snatchers' faces. They're like...really hot for some reason.
1:22 Frenzy is a pain in the ass. An attack will fill your frenzy gauge differently depending on your insight. The higher your insight, the more susceptible you are to frenzy, and thus, the more these attacks will fill your gauge. There's a consumable item called Sedative that will reset your frenzy, otherwise, heal above 75% of your maximum health before it hits since that's how much damage it does. If you want to get really technical, being in the middle of a visceral attack when the gauge maxes out will negate the frenzy damage all together. 59:45 the beast gauge fills as you attack enemies. The higher it fills, the more damage you give & take. Its an incredibly powerful item, I'd say it best in the game. Nothing happens when the gauge fills up though, that's just the maximum for its effects. Anyways amazing content as always! I'll be here for the next!
Combat tip: Beasthood makes your defense increase as well as your damage output It goes up recieving and doing physical damage, and can carry a hard boss battle making you a hard-hitting tank
You can now save the girl that was praying in the hypogean gaol if u are wearing one of the church garb outfits and u can send her to the chapel, but u have to do it before u kill the worm boss in the school. Once u kill that boss, a lot changed and u can’t save anyone else cuz they all go crazy, and you’ll be able to see the portal things that grab u sitting on the sides of the buildings
U can also use the tonsil stone to get to a new area if u let the “portal thing” near vicar Amelia boss fight and to the right. Let it grab you and it will send u to a new area. Just make sure you have full health so it doesn’t kill u
I'm a longtime viewer, rarely do I comment but I felt the need to let you know John that it's been a LONG TIME since I looked forward this much to someone posting content. I love your videos and your personality, but this series is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Thank you for posting them so frequently! I understand that you have to play a little catch-up but please man, don't stop giving us 2-3 of these a week. I love your play style and it's nice to see someone who is a lore-seeker like myself. Best wishes to you and your fam, keep up the excellent work, brother!
If you take that fire gem off of your saw clever you will be crushing enemies! You have that bad boy up to +6 and that fire gem takes away all the physical damage. Yeah, it looks cool but it's holding you back. And a little tip for Frenzy...The more Insight you have, the faster that Frenzy meter fills.
Good to see you sticking with the series John, these videos are really fun! Two things: The chalice dungeons are randomly generated dungeons, apart from some that lead to a certain boss, hence the randomness of enemies and difficulty spikes. And the beastblood pellets act as a buff, when you use them, a bar of "beasthood" will appear. The more its filled, the more damage you`ll do and receive. You raise this bar by attacking. A good plan is to bait a powerful beast with a blood cocktail, pop a beastblood pellet, and go ham!
good that you increased your insight (should be minimum 40) so you can see those hidden portals and how you get transported. now that you have the tonsil stone.
I'm so invested in this playthrough, John's making this so good - he's my favorite Let's Player in general, but I'm surprised at how MUCH I'm enjoying this? He keeps making me bust out laughing, I'm loving the energy he's bringing (I'm also really glad he seems to be enjoying himself! I like laughing at his reactions to the really bad/cliche horror video games as much as anyone, but seeing him messing around and getting excited is even better), and I'm getting way too into the fights.... like embarrassingly so, like I'm literally gasping irl sometimes and victory-yelling when he wins. Also I ain't no Bloodborne expert, but I feel like he's progressing at a pretty good clip and I enjoy trying to figure out the lore alongside him. TLDR: John is the best, Bloodborne is pretty cool, A+'s all around
I know I said this in another BB video but I am so thoroughly enjoying this series. I typically don't like long play throughs because I have a hard time concentrating but I am SO invested in this series. Even if it takes me a couple days to watch the videos all the way through, I still do. Thank you John for playing this!
52:32 that part made me laugh way harder than it should have. The combo of your voice with the outfit your hunter's wearing and making him walk slowly was perfection. 👌
Just recently played thru all of the Fromsoft games again, including Bloodborne. John, you're picking things up really quickly and it's a lot of fun to watch you play and comment. I'd offer a single tip: dashing/dodging is paramount, especially as this game gets tougher, so don't be afraid to invest in Endurance a bit more.
So the thing about the doors with the screaming people is that they actually talk to you if you knock on them before fighting Amelia. That said, they don't really say anything of value.
Ye, those nitwits are just window dressing for the game's set, to demonstrate that shit is getting worse. The important people will only be lost if not sent to the Chapel before the Paleblood Moon rises in full.
A 1 hour episode? HELL YEEES!! I've never had so much fun watching a gameplay series before, I find myself checking youtube every single night to see if there's new bloodborne videos. There's something about it that feels so comfy to watch, these absolutely brighten my day! I'm really glad you're enjoying playing too, thank you so much for giving us your amazing content!
In the forbidden woods where you killed those dogs in cages behind where the dude that gave you the tonsil stone lives there is a path to another area where you can get a very important item. Also the tonsil stone is for where you think, but don't worry too much about going there yet as it's a difficult area for where you're at right now.
Yeah, Insight makes you "see more things" but it also makes the game more difficult giving enemies new and more powerful attacks. So... Be careful with that. If you want to get rid of some insight go to the Insight Messenger Bath and buy some things. At 60 insight you will see the creatures that pick you up, and +15 insight makes enemies have new attacks, so I recommend you keep it at 10 unless you don't mind the added dificulty. Also you can consume A Third of An Umbilical Cord and it'll give you 3 insight
@@vangoghsseveredear It's easy to miss in DeS and DS1 and 2. 3 gives you a sound cue when you deal and take certain types of counter damage. Bloodborne is kinda obvious cause occasionally you'll get killed by an attack that normally doesn't do so much damage and go "huh I've been hit by that before and it didn't kill me last time..."
On chalice dungeons: there are LOADS of these (technically they aren't completely randomly generated) and you get the mains one done by just going through and you access the extra ones through a "root chalice". They are all completely optional but worth doing if you really enjoy the combat or want to grind resources without retreding areas. There are completely unique bosses and enemies down there (as you've seen) and also unique loot. You could probably do them off camera if you have an itch to play more

The most stressful part of this game is when you're exploring a new area while having a good amount of echoes.

At least until you get high enough of a level that echoes means next to nothing.
I always play these games in severe fear of losing any blood echoes. But upon watching John routinely lose 5 to 10k, and still be fine, I realize it's all good. Kinda makes me relax more during my playthrough.
Re: frenzy
Certain clothes give you higher frenzy resistance (basically makes the bar longer so it takes more exposure to get the effect). There are consumables that you'll find later in the game which act like antidotes but for frenzy.
The way frenzy works is that once that bar is filled it takes 80% (I think) of your *max* HP. So once you see that bar filling, the only thing you can do until you get access that consumable I mentioned is just to heal and get your health to >80%
Also, re: parrying.
Executioners are "kin" too, I believe, as they are also weak to bolt.
That might be because they're wearing a lot of metal which is a conductor XD
Was going to adress the Frenzy, but I think you covered it splendidly. Well played!
Frenzy also goes away if you break line of sight with the enemy applying it to you
you can parry cleric beast, you just have to shoot the head

Beast Blood Pellets are only op if you're veeerrrry familiar with the game. They temporarily enable the 'Beasthood' gauge, which fills up whenever you deal damage; the higher it is, the more damage you deal, and the more damage you *take*, to the point where having a decent amount of it will make almost anything a one-hit kill on you. They're absolutely invaluable to speedrunners but for anyone less familiar with a boss' attacks they're usually a quick ticket back to your lantern.
Always happy to see these uploads. :> Thanks John.

Quick Tip, the more insight you have (past 15) the more enemies some areas will have as well as having more attack patterns, but after 30 you begin to see the world for what it really is.... Also frenzy is affected by your insight.

I used to like DS1 because I enjoyed the story and lore more than Demon Souls (my first souls game). But I'm a sucker for eldritch horror so this game skyrocketed to my top fav. The more ignorant you are the more 'normal' the world seems but the more insight you have you can now see the true horror of the world.
i`ve been very curious about this but i can`t seem to find any videos on it, can you give some examples of change?
Combat tip:
That old hunter's bone you found in the workshop is a reusable item that consumes 3 bullets, and buffs your ability to dash, have no fear to use it and test some advanced dodging!
Btw,same goes with the beast roar, those are active items, infinite uses
But you'll need to invest some points into arcane to unlock their use if you want it.
Oh yeah that is the good stuff, specially for him since he doesnt use many bullets.

Good luck!
"Already Dead" is one of my favorite moments in the game lmao

What John says: Easy, that was so EASY!!
What I hear: Easy three-gen, Nancy, EASY THREE-GEN!!
Hey John! This has probably been mentioned in other comments but regarding combat, there are two moves that I'd suggest trying out as they made my life a lot easier playing through:
1) Backstep dodge + R1: If you dodge backwards and press R1 immediately, your character will perform a unique attack that closes the distance dodged.
Hi John!,
You've made some much progress!
He can be trusted to adapt. No matter what.
John! the more insight you have, the faster the frenzy bar fills up. Thank you for the video!
*John sees pig* "c'mon, go for it dude"
Pig: "ok then!"
I'm loving this series so far. It's a shame it doesn't get as many views as his usual videos, but still I hope he completes the playthrough
Combat tip:
Dogs will fall to the ground with a single shot from any fire weapon, not lethal, but will malke them vulnerable for like two seconds
I love your cockiness towards the monsters, and then almost immediate regret when the game throws something stronger at you lol
These videos are super entertaining, and it's great to see you having fun! :D

Yessss.... Yesssss
It's probably better he finds that area after going for a swim, as there will be a different item then...
12:10 the moment john notices the bow accessory on those little minions is so pure lol
Loving the series so far, John. It really makes me want to replay Bloodborne for the 70th time.
Combat Tip:
Not sure if anyone told you this but if you press R2 and Forward on the L stick simultaneously, you'll do a jumping attack.
Hi John! Some answers:
- You can't really parry large bosses like the Undead Giant or the Blood-Starved Beast, for example (human-sized bosses like Gascoigne you can still parry).
This has been one of my favorite video series to watch, I check for a new one every day. Damn, this is awesome, thank you, John!
Combat tip:
Beasthood makes your defense increase as well as your damage output
It goes up recieving and doing physical damage, and can carry a hard boss battle making you a hard-hitting tank

Also you can consume A Third of An Umbilical Cord and it'll give you 3 insight

keep em coming John, these are the highlights of the day for me now, I binge them as soon as I can!
On chalice dungeons:
there are LOADS of these (technically they aren't completely randomly generated) and you get the mains one done by just going through and you access the extra ones through a "root chalice".
They are all completely optional but worth doing if you really enjoy the combat or want to grind resources without retreding areas. There are completely unique bosses and enemies down there (as you've seen) and also unique loot.
You could probably do them off camera if you have an itch to play more
