they're not fans they're just TOXIC, like IDOLS CAN'T HAVE A LIFE???that's so selfish
KPOP made it's own bed by grooming these fans with parasocial promises and then exploiting them for their money. The companies and idols aren't innocent in all this.
Idol is business
@SonderDAzeX-nc6vgI agree with you soooo much. If you really dive deep into the idol industry and fan culture, it would be superficial to just say “these fans are not true fans”. Blaming the toxic fans is not gonna get anywhere. But then, the companies don’t wanna change their business model if it’s bringing in so much money🤷♀️ it’s an endless loop.
Toxic? hahaha! Your just newbie in KPOP and JPOP culture. That's how fans and idol works in that KPOP and JPOP industry. The fans are devoted to their idol and spent THOUSAND dollars or more than. Now when Idol will be on a relationship, it means limited time of seeing your idol, some restriction and less attention to fans.
k-nets r crazyy
SM Entertainment should be ashamed for handling this so badly
Sm is just a horrible company in general
Dispatch is ... they are relationship-breaker. SM just confirms it or doesn't do much and they also consider the artist position ... but, Dispatch ... Oh God ... Blackpink's Jisoo had to break up with her newly-confirmed boyfriend due to Dispatch news. So sad. In Korea, you can't have a partner while actively become an idol in your 20s or when you're so famous, but when you're 30's and not so famous, people don't care ... that's what I see. Unfair, but it's the culture of KPOP.. they get money from the fans, most of them want their idol stay single .. LOL.
I've read somewhere that Dispatch is not allowed to publish photos/videos of idols with their romantic partner if the other person is not famous. Does anybody know if this is true? Are there cases that would disprove this?
This is what SM always does.
They’re terrible to even their most successful artists.
Look at the nonexistent security for Red Velvet.
JYP has thirty security around Twice, Itzy etc and SM has four small guys around RV.
Honestly it’s dispatch fault, they should be getting the hate for exposing the relationship to soon and bc of them the couple will probably not last
Those are not real fans, real fans wouldn't mind, I'm a real fan of aespa, I just want them to be healthy & happy
Knets are dumb
Yeah but it’s kind of an agency thing I think
Real fan buys hundreds of copies of their albums just to support them. Are you a real fan?
@@limarchenko96that’s unhinged fans✨
LGBTQ are angry that she’s dating a man and attacking her on Twitter.
Delusions know no boundaries.
It’s just so forever heartbreaking how these idols have to apologize for love and sometimes force to breakup or leave their company. For literally just having human emotions. It is so dehumanized. I don’t know to blame fans or company but all should be ashamed. They don’t have to apologize for anything!!!
This is something specific to idol culture in Korea. A large part of the business is selling a fantasy to the fans, make them believe that their idol loves them on a personal level. International fans don't care but k nets will definitely cause a scene.
saying that international fans don't care is a major cope lol, they develop this parasocial relationship with their idols aswell.
I mean international fans are also cray cray sometimes, with young 5SOS and 1D the backlash for their gilfriends was wild but koreans do take it to a whole new level
As a Korean this is spot on. It’s no different to paying for onlyfans. I understand it’s how money is made in the industry but it’s a disgusting culture that needs to go. Americans would laugh at this idea. American celeb culture is not perfect but it’s far more reasonable than that of Korea
@@frezzyy7454I think including westerners in the East Asian idol -parasocial relationship is more of a cope than the Ig comment. Yes of course there’s westerns that see their idols like that. Those types of people exist everywhere. However, you can’t ignore the clear dominating impact it has on Korea and over all east Asia. I think anyone with half a brain knows that yes it happens everywhere. The op comment didn’t need to include that because that’s where common sense comes it. They are talking about Korea specifically which is true
@@LeilaleilaZthanks for rephrasing the op comment lmfaoo
Thank you for speaking about this. This has always been and still is such a problem in the Korean entertainment industry. These people are grown men and women. They should be allowed to date whoever they’d like, and even if they aren’t adults, who cares? I wish the fans would stop taking these parasocial relationships to the extremes 😭
That’s ridiculous, 😢she shouldn’t have to apologize for being happy with someone.
Just for accuracy’s sake, the truck was sent to the SM Entertainment building, which is the company who manages her - basically they sent them to her record label and workplace, not her home.
I do think that the internet backlash to this and the negative attention to Korea and from the general Korean population could actually pressure the Korean government to bring in legislation to protect idols from this sort of thing (maybe by banning billboard trucks, which is a common way Korean fans protest decisions and make their feelings known), as scandals like this have had that effect before. The government is a little different over there, because Kpop and the entertainment industry is a huge cornerstone of their economy, they will get more involved in passing legislation about it than in America. There is also a petition system where if a petition to the legislature has enough signatures, the legislature (basically congress) has to discuss it.
Honest question, have these protest trucks ever actually worked? I bet these companies and idols don't even look at them, especially when they are about the dumbest things.
@@crystalsnow1138I can’t think of any. At most I think its only made things worse for them - Bang Chan had trucks in support of him and he basically outright said it had made things worse.
Thank u😂. I was going to clarify tht it was the company, not her house. Its normal tht when the toxic fandom gets mad they send a truck. Its weird but not stalking
@@izzywoods794found the toxic fan.
Yes its worked, they have gained attention worldwide, even BBC and other major news agencies along with multiple podcasts and internet influencers are reporting on the incident and mentioning the Truck. The truck is about Impact, this would never be news if instead of a truck they just sent an email. @@crystalsnow1138
The BIG thing though, that isn’t being talked about, is that it was not announced by her, it was released by tabloids who were following them and they have only been together for a month. And anytime something like this drops where it’s like “why even report on this when they’ve only been dating a month?”, you have to look at what’s going on in Korean politics. That day, the president announced that they had given permission to Japan to dump pollution in the East Sea (the sea between the two countries) something that would be hugely hugely unpopular given relations between Japan and Korea (who don’t even agree on that that sea should be called - Koreans call it the East Sea, Japanese call it the Sea of Japan). Karina and her boyfriend (who is a popular Kdrama actor) were thrown under the bus by the media to shield the president from backlash - that’s not tinfoil hat stuff, this is a pattern that’s happened before like clockwork (and also often happens in Western media esp with Murdoch owned outlets).
And ironically, it’s led to worse press for Korea because now international eyes are on this toxic issue in Korean fan culture.
Louder!!!
Thank you - I follow Korean news to keep up with language study and saw a lot of people mentioning this on Korean sites - kind of seeming like there was a small conspiracy to use Karina's personal life to distract Korean people from that situation you mentioned about the treated nuclear waste water.
THIS IS PERFECT. THWNK YOU.
Oooo, this reminds of the time there was a nationwide protest by teachers across SK after the death of a young teacher (she committed s*icide because of the constant stress from the students’ poor behavior and their parents harassing her). I think at that time, there was some dumb idol related drama happening that overshadowed that.
PR media at its best
They sing about love and happiness but when they find a bit of love and happiness in there own life its a big NO NO like that just ridiculous. They should be aloud to live and have a life outside of being a kpop star there human beings like everyone else
I'm going to go ahead and say this. Karina isn't the only SM Entertainment artist who apologized for having a boyfriend. Taeyeon from Girls Generation also did the same. Now Taeyeon isn't phased when it comes to fans opinions on dating considering the fact that she's a 2nd gen artist who was born in 1989 (Karina is a 4th gen artists born in the 2000s). Either way they're both adults and they can do what they want.
trust me, international fans don't care. We actually embrace them having relationships cause it's a natural thing to do. It's all about selling the fantasy of these idols so fans go crazy when dating scandals occur (the fact that it's considered a scandal in itself is crazy) and it is absurd to think that these idols go on to be over 40 and have "never" dated. like c'mon, let them live and date.
another example happened to Chen from EXO. SM released a statement saying he was marrying his long-time girlfriend who was expecting his child and many so-called fans got together to sit in front of the SM building to demand that he get kicked out of SM. (Thankfully SM & EXO didn't care and he is still a part of the group and I wouldn't have it any other way cause he is an essential member of EXO)
"But it's their culture" or "this is such an American take" yet the principle still stands.
It is still a problem because people are being treated/used as products instead of people. If a culture is dehumanizing specific individuals to this extent then that part of their culture needs to change. Not to mention there are many idols who have spoken against this trend yet it's their culture too, right? Easy to say to leave an environment of total possessiveness alone when it's not you or someone you love being affected and to use "culture" as your best defense.
The problem is that liberal Westerners don't hold this same standard for everybody. It's a very selective outrage that Americans have to push agendas.
@@LukeHartman-ro7hlwhat do you mean? which people do "liberal Westerners" support shaming for having a relationship? I think it does apply to everybody...
@Quantris the problem is liberal Westerners are the biggest hypocrites on the planet. They are often guilty of the very things they love to accuse everybody else of doing. So, no, they don't even hold themselves to the same standard. They insist the rest of the world conform to them. It's a form of cultural nationalism.
THIS! Honestly it doesn’t even matter the country or culture, it still doesn’t change the fact that people are treating PEOPLE as objects, which is not okay
whAAT?!? a kpop idol hit on zach??? i wonder who it is lol
Why does she need to apologize for having a boyfriend? That’s just crazy. Are Kpop idols not a free human being too? These days I’m beginning to see Kpop idols are no longer view as free people and the Kpop culture are becoming more toxic by the days…
''must be nice'' was my reaction exactly 😂
You know what`s even more hilarious? Her boyfriend is Lee Jae Wook, one of the most chill and talented actors working in South Korean acting industry. Like, the man`s straight up a gifted actor. If I was her,I`d post videos of us cuddling or something, just because 😂
this has to be a cultural difference i dont think I'll ever be able to understand why people act this way 😭
The thing about this is, the whole kpop industry is founded on extracting as much money from fans as possible and they do it by manipulating them through parasocial relationships, actually there is another word Koreans use over parasocial relationships and that is 유사연애 which means like 'para-romance', where idols act like they're in a romantic relationship with their fans. By indulging in this, fans will buy hundreds of albums to get photocards or fanmeeting tickets, stream endlessly to get their songs on the charts, etc. Other fans may feel like "Who cares? I'm a fan and I don't care if they date," but you're basically just a drop in the ocean and don't mean much to these companies because you don't give enough financial value; it's these big spender fans which the companies/artists feed the delusions to get the big money. It's just like in free to play games how they make their money off of the 5% of whales who shirk out huge amounts of money. I feel for Karina and all other idols who go through this, but it's almost like feeling sorry for the Kardashians when they talk about their securities about their bodies, when they're actively promoting and putting out those harmful body stereotypes and profiting off of them in the first place.
Preach it!!!
It’s basically like simping and paying for onlyfans
It’s basically like paying for onlyfans
@@johnpark7972 No, because onlyfans is usually for a specified type of content and is only accesible by payment. Kpop content is nothing like onlyfans and be accesible to anyone, not only fans.
The thing you have to pay is merch and events. It is not the same thing
The fans love is enough
But it’s a different type of love, like you don’t love your partner the same way you love your parents, you don’t love your friends the same way you love your pets
So it’s only natural for Karina to want this specific love that she can get by dating someone
And I was giggly af when I heard the news cuz I’m a fan of both Karina and Jaewook I was so happy for them
i think saying "the fans love is enough" is pretty parasocial though. like she doesn't know all her fans personally at all, her fans just think they know her.
@@recreatio that’s what I’m trying to say, but english is not my first language so idk how to put it in words exactly,
The fans can give her a lot of love, the type of love that she’ll only get from them, but they can’t expect she replaces her partners love with fans love cuz it’s two different things. The fans are able to give her just that and from a fan pov that should be enough for them
@@deborajagielska0097 i agree then!
It’s the companies giving into these fans delusions 😒😒😒
1:40 I WANNA KNOW WHO THAT WAS OMG 😭😭😭
You know, I think the agencies are the ones to blame here.
This has been an issue not just with Kpop but with bands overall, being boy bands or girl bands.
Boy groups have mostly female audiences and Girl groups have mostly male audiences. These groups want you (the fans) to feel like they are part of that group, the vlogs, the merchandise, social media shorts, brand promotions, etc. they are constantly pushing content for people to watch and stay attached to their favourite group or ttheir favourite idol, because these idols are the "product", they want you to feel like you can relate to your idol and that your idol like you.
What happens is that people get so attached to their idols and groups over years and years of watching them, that they think they should have a saying in what they may or may not do, who they should hang out with and who they shouldn't hang out with, who they should be dating and who they shouldn't be dating, they always have something to say.
The problem is, the agencies PROMOTE these types of behaviour. How? By allowing these people ("the so called "fans") to dictacte what these idols can and can't do because they (the agencies) might lose money in the process. So, they make the idols sign contracts that don't allow them to date for example. These companies totally make the rules.
Because again the idols are the "product" and you as a big company, focused on making money, would'nt want your "product" to lose you money right? That is why they try and control everything the idols do, what they eat, how much they should weight, what they must say and mustn't say in interviews, etc.
The thing is, these idols signed up for this. They knew what they were signing up for. I'm not even blalming the idols, I'm saying it's both's fault, because these companies are in the wrong with these rules but then idols still sign up.
The solution comes down to either the companies themselves, not putting up with these demands from these "fans", Or, the other fans (which I want to believe are the majority) that don't agree with this, try and boycott these companies so they may change these rules in the industry overall.
I'm just a regular Kpop listener, but I felt like I had something to say.
I wonder if groups like NSYNC or The Backstreet Boys or Spice Girls have had these same issues. And if not, why? Is it a Korean/Kpop issue? Legit question.
I was a teen during the height of popularity of the groups you mentioned and while I'm sure some fans were upset when they started relationships, most people did not care. I remember when Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were dating and fans wanted them to get married and were genuinely happy for them (happy until they broke up and then fans started taking sides on who was to blame for the breakup). Even when I was young and had crushes on singers I never was that delulu to really think we would meet and fall in love/get married. I knew they had a personal life that I had to respect. This kind of thing I've really only seen in kpop groups.
People do sign up to be idols but I don't think they necessarily understand the full extent of what they're getting into. Trainees start young, for one thing, and I'm sure there are plenty of ways to string them along. Ultimately the company is the party in power, so I will rest the fault squarely on them.
i know everyone goes to the crazy fans throat when something like this happens but I've been here long enough to understand that kpop isn't just about music, it's an entire industry based on getting as much money out of these fans as they can, so the person in the idol position HAS to live for the fans and the fans only, they are slaves to the industry, the fans in turn have always had this mentality in Asia especially, what I want to say is that the kpop industry was built this way and it won't change anytime soon
I agree, everything in kpop is done to obsess the fan on the idol, especially fan service and the way they produce daily content on RUclips, this brings the fan closer to the artist and creates the illusion that they are involved in some way, the idols feed these illusions and then end up suffering the consequences.
@@notasingle Not the idols, the industry. Kpop idols didn't make this industry, the companies did. Like SM, which basically created Kpop. It wasn't the idols who made those things the norm neither made this culture. The music labels are the one creating these artists, they are the ones shaping the industry. Not the idols.
Most idols come to work either because they are passionate about music or need money, like many idols who were poor etc. Most were young, the oldest demographic being 19.
Those companies don't only manage those artists, they raise them. They feed them. They give them dorms. Idols depend on companies.
And idols own the companies. You just dont debut and live a glamorous idol life. You have thousands and millions of dollars to pay the company, and this is only for training.
So idols, who are paid 50 to 0.8% , do what companies say. It's in their contracts as well.
Not all idols agree yet can do anything. I can explain and give you the examples.
If fans didn't want this culture in the first place, companies won't had made this the norm, hence idols won't suffer. Even Korean celebrities outside Kpop, suffer because of this (Streamers etc)
So, is that everyone fault as well?
@@ashantythegreat3231 True! We have the same issue with JPop.
I really hope that this bad buzz will help to get things better for idols!
@@ashantythegreat3231 I believe the idols were part of creating this culture too, I don't think the fans are intelligent enough to say something like "I don't want a culture like that in the community" they were involved in this from the beginning, the idols together with the industry they are the part that keeps this illusory culture alive day after day, the idols are aware of all this and they are convenient with this whole culture
@@notasingle Idols didn't create this, the companies did. The idols are under the companies, and the industry is in control of the companies. Companies do anything to not lose money, they give whatever the fans want without keeping mind they have artist on their hands.
How did you come to that conclusion, that idols, who are basically treated like toys by this industry, made this culture? It's the companies who did it. Idols are products of companies. Companies made the Idols. Not the other way around.

please do not call them fans !
Karina don't you ever apologize for having a boyfriend. Your real fans would be happy for you. Know one can live your life but you. The world love you and want you to be happy. Your heart belong to you follow it where it leads you❤❤
This is wild and it's true. SM stock prices plummeted after Karina's dating confirmation. But it's not only to do with dating. The things that Hollywood or USA stars get away with, if they were Korean, they would no longer be stars and lose their contracts everywhere.
Every company’s stock when down that day, it just happened that the dating news came out at the same time and it made it look like it was the causes of it.
It makes me so sad. The girl is 24 and so beautiful. Of course she wants to date. K-fans can be so out of line.
I think that all of this is because of K-pop companies. If they didn't make it public knowledge that idols aren't supposed to date, then we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Companies only care about money at the end of the day, so they will manipulate weird and deranged fans as much as possible so that they will spend money on their favorite groups. I think K-pop companies have benefited from this so much even at the expense of the idols. I just truly believe everything would be different if the no dating rule was only knowledge between trainees and idols.
or if the no dating rule had not existed at all.
I do not really know why some people in comments are saying that she had to apologize because in FACT a true fan would neither in a million years tell their idol to stop loving or stop doing something that they wanna try. GET A LIFE AND DO SOMETHING FOR YOURSELVES🤍Stop and share only love and kindness.
I think that those kpop fans in china and korea see Idols and singers differently, where idols act like a virtual partner in their lives, and sometimes they have to sacrifice a lot to see them in offline concerts or online sign-up activities, so if their idols are in a relationship they feel ignored (but personally this is toxic for me
#JUSTICE FOR KARINA
This is common, they do this for league of legends teams to, they rent out whole buses and stuff and expressing their dislike for stuff this isn't just aespa or kpop fans this is just something korean fans in general do.
thanks for covering this.
Thank you for talking about this. I wish these parasocial ‘relationships’ would stop.
It’s so upsetting, I love Karina so much too but I guess it’s really a very different culture over there. Like, I can have my family (yeah I’m married), why can’t she? Why does some fans want her to be single for life and then yet they always say “oh I want you to be happy”, “I love to see your smile” etc.. at the same time, those fans at some point probably go on their own relationships in their private lives too, not like they will remain single for life and give everything to Karina.. Karina is really one of the sweetest girl and I never once doubt her sincerity towards her fans, always giving her best performances and is a very dedicated and responsible leader to her group. But it’s probably also times have evolved to be like, the more love you get, the more hate you get too… it’s f***ed up actually..
I think there are 3 main reasons for this:
1) Strong emphasis on the parasocial relationship between idols and hardcore fans
2) Kpop idols (usually) not writing their own lyrics (imagine if Taylor Swift or Harry Styles had a dating taboo...)
3) Kpop idols being expected to fit into a certain mold/ideal (very young, single, hard-working, no controversies of any kind. Just pure talent, "natural" beauty and innocence.
Whenever they do some serious "bad boy/girl" kind of stuff it's mainly the Western audiences who don't mind or even get angry at fans who do mind.)
And I think the entertainment agencies are to blame for the dating taboo, at least the ones who invented it or actively try to keep it alive (the competition is extreme, so it might not be as easy as it seems to "just" don't have that kind of taboo in a newly debuted Kpop group. You know, not even BTS can be open about things like dating or plastic surgery despite being open about a lot of other things like ambitions, insecurities, conflicts, mental & physical health issues and talking about snoring, farting, getting pimples, dieting and how much they currently weigh. I think they are still to some extend terrified of losing their status and image. Especially as a group who is praised for being sincere and authentic by their fans. Personally, it would tear me apart internally if I had to shut up about so many important things while being expected to talk about them at the same time but not really. It's a little bit like how politicians are expected to talk and lie about things diplomaticly in public - meanwhile Kpop idols can't even say that they are from Taiwan because, you know, China (South Korea doesn't have a good relationship with any of its neighbour countries. It's an overall tense situation).
But at the same time idols shouldn't feel obligated to share their personal lives with fans. I mean maybe it's not they are scared to talk about it, but maybe they just feel it's really no one's business and prefer to keep that part of their life private. Romantic relationships are hard enough, imagine how much harder it is when you have the whole world watching even if they are supportive of the relationship. I also imagine that plenty of idols date non-celebrities who prefer to not be in the public eye. Especially in the beginning of relationships where they are just getting to know each other and they don't want the other person to be harassed or bullied.
what's even crazier is that those same fans are mad at her for actually apologizing and making them look bad
bruh why are MY’s being so extra bc at the end of the day, karina doesnt even know who those ppl are
its not even mys, is just how some kpop fans are. and now k-netz are ashamed that its getting national coverage as if they werent the ones asking for an apology
@@mayiluvu3 true
in the Korean music industries, dating rumors/relationships are frowned upon by both fans and the media.
in the Western/US music industries, dating rumors/relationships may be frowned upon by the media, but usually gain great support from fans. sad.
I'm glad this issue getting this much of attention cauae this need to stop asap...i feel really bad about those idols
KPOP relies on parasocial relationships. What none parasocial person goes out and buys HUNDREDS of worthless albums of their favorites even if the music is terrible? You people just can't seem to see both sides of this issue. KPOP does not exist without the parasocial relationships because Idols arent picked based on musical talent. They are chosen for their visuals and charisma. These crazy fans will not go away, its part of the cost of doing business.
Just my take as a fellow foreign kpop fan - the root of 'why' is because some kpop companies purposely market their groups (boy and girl groups) with what I've seen called a 'para-social' aspect where the group members are purposely supposed to appear as 'potentially available' to their fans. Not all, but it has been very common at least over the past decades, I'm assuming because it's proven to be hugely effective for raking in cash from people who are (my opinion) delusioned into believing that the artists are 'available' to them or even owe the fans something for their dedication. To be clear, I don't think that simply having a celebrity crush falls into that category, but if you genuinely start to think that any person you don't know, have no natural or socially-appropriate way of connecting with personally and will very likely never even meet owes you anything at all - can't or shouldn't have their own happy personal life outside of their job, that's the kind of thought that crosses into this sort of damaging/harmful and obviously hurtful (to the artist) category. Genuine fans of anyone always want that person to be successful and happy, period.
Why would you have to apologize to have a boyfriend??? That’s lowkey dumb🙄
Thanks God people started to talk about this and put this into the spotlight because this is so messed up and Korea needs to change
The only way kpop idols can get accepted to be dating openly is if they are senior idols and they announce they are dating first. Aespa karina is still 3 years into her career which is why fans are so volatile against her.
Does not matter 💀 she’s a human bruh she’s gonna eventually have a boyfriend sometime in her life
If all kpop artists stand together though and normalize male/female kidols being friends and the idea that they can date or just be friends then real fans will get used to it. Apologizing is giving in to the haters. Real fans would want them to be happy. It’s immaturity and idol worship that causes these problems. Also the lack of interaction at award shows because of fear of backlash. It’s their job to set the expectations for their fandom about what is acceptable behavior. Their will always be someone hating on the internet, but you don’t encourage that behavior by giving into it. Instead rebuke them and tell them you want your fans to be happy and have healthy relationships and hope they can do the same and want the best for you in return.
if you really love somebody, why would you hold them back from happiness. I love that quote
Those aren’t fans! Those are stalkers/haters! That’s just sad! Karina Is a grown up! She can do what she wants! Who does that to people
Okay. Karina has apologized and time will HEAL! What has been done cannot be undone. Aespa will become stronger, better and conquerors with their talent, skills and music. Aespa, you still have MUCH more support than you can imagine than even before! Aespa, I Can't wait for your comeback, your concert , Karina's variety Netflix show, Ningning's OST and all the other members upcoming surprises (I've heard through the grapevine--shock the entertainment world), activities and events! Keep the faith and never look back, because ONLY brighter days are ahead! You ALL have each other. All you need to do is stay FOCUSED, HUMBLED and keep doing what you do BEST (4th generation leaders)!
She shouldn’t have had to apologize in the first place. So ridiculous.
Jennie dated a few times and mind you she's 27 years old
They called her Seoul cycle!!!!!
But my girl never cared
It is quiet sad, hope she can continue with her music and also continue dating. There is a lot of pressure being a kpop star or even a Korean actor, quiet a few have taken their own life because of the pressure and cancel culture.
she is being tailed by paparazzi, and her 1 month relationship being scandalized by the paparazzi. Caught dating, some toxic people send the truck but actually a lot of people support her relationship also.
If you under sm and very popular idol got caught dating they asked you to wrote apology letter meanwhile yg so unserious when it come to dating they dont care only release hillarious statements but never comfirm also hybe always pay dispatch thats why they never has dating rumors
lmao yg's iconic for that
The thing is that every time something like that happens. "fans" finding out an Idol is dating. It's just easier for them to attack that idol because that person is on their own. Just like it's easier in school to harass one kid because they're not surrounded by people helping and defending them. For me, it's the compagnies roles to speak about Idol's dating. It's them who should be defending their idols. I wanna believe that if Idols would come together and state they're dating as a group. Antis could not protest if there's several idols announce the same thing.
The antis are never gonna change so even if it's not fair. Compagnies and idols should be the ones acting on finding solutions to this problem.
If I take the exemple of Seunghan from RIIZE that were forced to go on hiatus because antis opened their mouth about him having a girlfriend when he was a trainee (and other things but it doesn't have to do with what I wanna say) SM the company did nothing to protect their artist. Companies never protect their artists. If you want a change, you have to do it yourself because no-one is gonna do it for you.
Those are not fans. Fans would be happy for her if she's happy. Those are "stans" (stalker fans). Absolutely disgusting, she has nothing to apologize for, and these KPOP labels are disgusting for making their idols pander to these obsessive stans' delusions. This shit is DANGEROUS, this is how a lot of celebrities have gotten murdered!
I have 0 doubt in my mind that these stans are abusive partners. _"You can't have friends, you can't love or spend time with anyone but me!"_ It's giving that vibe. If this is how they act about a celebrity they don't know, then how do you think they act toward people in their personal lives? 😬
I'm fucking mad about it. Fans are fake
I think if it's just her she would give the middle finger BUT because it effects her group Aespa yeah she kinda has too
Some lifeless little kids are angry and this turned into such a big deal. Leave the girl alone she can date whoever she wants, go get a life and a real partner that you can have dummies.
im betting on eric nam or jackson who flirted with zach
😅 That one made me laugh.
Btw: more openly queer representation in Kpop please. It's not just the dating taboo that is getting more and more ridiculous. The heteronormativity (hundreds of Kpop idols in existence, all 100% straight) also looks increasingly weird when you're trying to conquer Western markets in 2024. (But yeah, I get it, everybody is playing it safe & the Asian markets are probably more reliable for Korean artists.)
@nehalilisays not everybody is going to conform to your Western ideology like you want them to.
@@LukeHartman-ro7hlfr
@@LukeHartman-ro7hl Well, queer Kpop idols did exist, do exist and will exist. It's just a matter of being honest about it (as a business & society). That's why I see it in the same category as the dating taboo. Many (young) Kpop idols are dating, they are just not open about it. Idols are role models for many young people, especially in Korea. So, at the moment they are still promoting the workaholic culture while having a fertility rate of 0.8 children per woman...
@nehalilisays my point still stands. While you're worried about sexuality and who is dating who, the rest of us sane people are worried about whether they are making good music or not. You are involved with K-pop for the wrong reason if you're trying to push this.
most of it its just KOREAN FANS. they are ridiculous
kpop is getting more and more sad. that poor girl
This is nothing new, it’s just that Kpop gets more international attention now and it’s not just Koreans who are fans. The trucks being sent to their companies and apologies for having relationships have been going on for years. It’s not international fans doing it, it’s the culture and attitude towards what an “idol” is in East Asia (a person whose job is to maintain a particular image and make personal sacrifices to be an escape and represent a fantasy and ideal for people)
I mean, years ago, a Taiwanese KPop idol called Tzuyu had to apologise for holding a Taiwanese flag because it was seen as a political statement against One China ideology. Her group haven’t been able to perform in China since. An idol named Irene was harassed for saying she read a feminist book - she wasn’t maintaining the right image for her male fans by doing that, some of whom wanted to believe she wouldn’t be a feminist or read such a book.
He’s over here talking to the international fans like we are the ones over here in the west sending trucks to SM…
I've been a fan of Aespa since debut, some of these "fans" aren't even and shouldn't even call themselves that, its disgusting behavior. I hope she's okay, its human to have love and feelings, I get the no dating policy but she should in any way NOT feel or be ashamed.
The thing is, in korea this comes as a full package. You get incredible supportive fans (they buy everything from your group, for example, way more expensive than average cds), while at the same time they wont tolerate you having a bf/gf. Still weird though.
If you really love somebody, why hold them back from happiness. so true bruh.
tbh they are SOOO CUTEEEE together
To put it super simple, They are supposed to represent the purest form of a performer calling them "Idols". So that includes no dating, "minimal partying", little opinion and perfect manners. Also you need a personality and immense talent and work ethic meaning no sleep.
I used to be in the “let them publicly date” camp but not anymore. Appearing “available” to fans is part of the job. Of course it’s ridiculous, but that’s just how it is and the fan culture isn’t changing. Just date in secret it’s not that hard. Being an idol is a really unique job and comes with a lot of responsibility and sacrifice, this is one of them. If you’re in a top group it’ll pay off in the long run and you can maybe publicly date 7 years in or so.
I dream of the day the idols I admire, find love and can have their own family if they want it to.
And can you believe now that this has reached overseas news and garnered a lot of criticism everyone is blaming and destroying karina for “embarrassing their country” and calling her an embarrassment to korea 💀 im so freaking done with this bs
so heartbreaking to hear this, it’s insane. Idols are human, let them experience love
I really hope something changes!! 🙏 It's about time!!
That's crazy
She can date anyone freely
What is that??? Why???? Idol's life sucks😢. It's sad
It happens all the time not just with Karina. Taeyeon had to apologise to fans directly at the airport. So nothing new, even male idols who got married wrote apology letters.
as a huge fan of both of them, it frustrates me so bad that people act like this... let them be happy
a kpop star hit on zach? need all the theories
i feel so bad for her. like real fans would respect your decision?? like if you're forcing your idol to break up that shows u dont want them happy...??? shes a person with feelings not just some doll :_( also shes a grown ass woman... TWENTY THREE
Why these fans are so delusional like they're so pathetic. They need to get a life
Esas personas que le tiraron hate por querer una relación deberían sentirse tan avergonzados, no tienen ningún derecho para opinar si un idol quiere o no tener pareja
ugh its really embarrassing calling myself a kpop fan these days🤦♀️
im so excited for the future kpop fans where idols are treated like humans and i envy them
Karina makes me happy enough she is nobody puppet
it's a shame that Karina lose the idgaf challenge. she should just keep going. those fans are f up
I understand that it’s a different culture and I respect so many things about it but this is unacceptable. Shame on such fans and hope they get all the therapy they need to be less harmful to the artists they’re fans of.
All those 'fans' need to see a therapist.
Where's the Ariana part 2 interview? ( :
I'm sorry but the fact that she has to say sorry is bonkers. I thought we left that trend a while ago, it's just ridiculous. This is exactly why people like Doja are more than right to tell their fans that she's not their friend, because she's not. Karina isn't either. She's just a singer you like.
Thats crazy honestly , wtf
I hope she posts a pic with her boyfriend just to piss them off even more. She CAN DO WHATEVER THE F$#+ SHE WANTS ☺️💛
piss them off more? girl thats risky. for example if the chinese fans get more pissed then their album sales will actually decline. if her china bar closes... that would be bad BAD. we should hope kpop culture changes rather than wishing karina to ruin her career over something so stupid.
@@jimired if only they could let let live her life, she's not entitled to anything or anyone. They should be ashamed of themselves for having her write an apology for being a a person and living her life, like seriously what is wrong with them acting like children.
Well they broke up so.
Those aren’t “ fans”
so what if theyre idols have a relationship. why cant kpop fans think of their happiness. this is madness and obsession.
K-Netizens are very lovely people aren't they 😊
I'm sorry for Karina having to go through this but also glad that this story is doing numbers in like mainstream news cause this has been happening in Kpop for so long and was so much worse hell people were getting kicked ou the group for dating. I mean Seunghan from RIIZE is legit on Hiatus for having a normal teenage life it sucks. Like I'm not sure if it will change alot but at least hopefully it can kinda embarrass some of these fans and like make them realize that this is not okay. Cause like I know people are saying well there are people in the west who act crazy like this. but the numbers are so much more in Korea/ east asia or people who would consider themselves as normal fans and not sasaengs who share these sentiments toward idol dating.
Especially with Chen’s case too!
It heavily depends on the agency and the sort of relationship the idol has with their fans. Some fandoms have been like; whatever, while another acts like THIS. Some agencies have no dating in contracts, while other allow it.
where the FUCK is part 2 of the Ari you said march 8 and it’s march 10
All I am going to say is, she shouldn't have to. "Fans" need to stop being parasocial.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TALKING ABOUT THIS!
THANK YOU FOR THIS ‼️
