    I think your best setup was from "Ep. 9 : My analog chain is INSANE." That setup was insane. I too have racks full of analog gears and some I've been stuck with for too long (2 APIs, 2 Thermionic Cultures, 3 Bettermakers, 2 Manleys, a Sontec, 3 Rupert Shelford Designs, just to name a few). I want to get-rid-of/buy some gear and get a better workflow also. It's been hard! Anyways, I love your videos!

    Nice work! I use 2 things with my HW mastering.
    Louder Than Liftoff Silver Bullet (Bus comp on insert) > Rupert Neve Master Buss Processor. I feel like I cover everything this video did but with only 2 units. Makes the process much more simple.
    The Mix Satellite is a beast! If it was $2k I'd buy it. But $7k is very out of touch.

      I have the same two units you mentioned above as well as the OnTheMoon Spacecraft. Do you like the compression on your MBP?

    • @blvkqmusicgroup
      @blvkqmusicgroup Год назад +2

      @@Sance21 yes I do. It’s very transparent so you should be able to get a decent sound no matter what. Since I’m using it for mastering, I have the limiter turned on as well with the ratio at 40:1. I do use the SFE section.
      I set everything how I want it and leave it. When I start up a session, everything is already on (to where I left it) so I’m mixing into it. Finished product sounds great to me.

      @@2probeatsHow close does the VSM4 software you have get to the VSM hardware?
      For saturation, aside from the Silver Bullet and silk circuits on the MBP, I have the Black Box HG2 hardware, but it doesn't feature MS.

    Nice. That VSM-2 seems like a beast. Definitely would love to add one to the mastering chain at some point. So since the Neve Shelford channel is a mono unit, then you were just using it for EQing the Mid channel (with the VSM-2 set in Mid-Side mode)? Cool.

    Hey 2pro, I've had both the Neve Portico MBP II and OnTheMoonSpacecraft for two years now. If you still had the Portico, how would you use the stereo field section in tandem with the OnTheMoon?

    • @2probeats
      @2probeats  Год назад

      Hmm, that’s a good question. i believe the combo can do wonders with the spacecraft doing basic widening and MBP frequency depending stereo manipulation. I wouldn’t keep the two units just for this…

    Hey, how do you like the spacecraft onthemoon ? Especially curious about the space section. It sounds very cool, but does it compromise clarity somehow or in any way degrade the material? I find it hard to judge on the videos I’ve seen.

    • @Sance21
      @Sance21 Год назад +1

      I've had the Spacecraft for two years now. The general width knob on the left acts as a standard widener or mono maker. The Zoom and Depth knobs are cool in the sense that you can target where in the frequency range you want to expand. There's no degradation to the signal but you also don't want or abuse the features especially on a stereo mix. You can push them more on individual tracks.
      I also own the MBP which has the stereo field editor, hence why I was also asking earlier in the chat if there's some overlap.

    • @rasmushagenmusic
      @rasmushagenmusic Год назад +1

      Hey, thanks for the info! It helps a lot. I’m on the fence of getting one. I would definitely use it subtly as I plan to use it as a mastering widener. So it doesn’t “blur” or de-focus the centered vocals- when used conservatively? I find that many wideners seem to do that when generating new stereo or mono information (like with the zoom and depth).

    • @Sance21
      @Sance21 Год назад +1

      @@rasmushagenmusic You're welcome. Well, it will blur if you push it too much in a certain frequency like any unit if it's abused. But that's the power of it, you use the focus and distance knobs to find the frequency that you want the stereo imager to effect. The interesting thing about the unit is that you can push it pretty far in regards to the stereo imaging, and the magic still stays in phase I found, when I run the tests in mono, so the mono compatibility remains unlike in most plugins. That shocked me the most. The depth knob creates new mono information, and the zoom knob creates new stereo information. The point of abuse on mixes seems to be when you go past the top white center marking on the zoom and depth knob.

    • @2probeats
