This game was so brilliant in so many ways, even as a teen playing this when the internet was relatively new I was genuinely chilled by some of the predictions and ideas it evoked. Directly led to my efforts to have next to zero social media as an adult and I think it was a great decision 😂
Nope. Just a special bandana can do it. Before any new game plus, he technically wore a bandana. Sadly, i've yet to find that special bandana in stores, but perhaps one day...
Funny… I was thinking about this the other day. Metal gear as a series made me not get surprised by a lot of things happening nowadays. Let’s see where the fourth one will take us. One of my favorite formative ips. Awesome vid
I just can't wait to see how amazing will the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork doing a raw blink on Hari Kiri Rock will be. I NEED SCISSORS!!! 61!!
"The digital society furthers human flaws and selectively rewards the development of convenient half-truths. Just look at the strange juxtapositions of morality around you." I've said for a good while now that Kojima predicted what would become Social Media and digital footprints.
The BIGGEST prediction MGS2 made was in cut content. The attack of the Twin Towers by Terrorists. Sure the plane was replaced by a giant metal gear turtle but nonthe less it actually happened.
Very eerie! Almost too much to be a coincidence so it begs the question as to what inspired Kojima’s ideas around this time? Obviously being from Japan he was able to look at the US from a more outside view but everything mgs2 tackles makes it seem Kojima was a conspiracy theorist but the theories ended up being extremely accurate lol! The genius of it all was putting it in a game during a time when games was still kinda looked at as just kid cartoonish stuff! That’s actually very smart!
I watched someone play MGS2 a year or two ago. And yea...hearing everything that was said in hindsight was really freaky. Say what you will about Kojima, but he nailed it on this one.
@@AdoreYouInAshXI It felt like the story was all over the place with Nanomachines, the Patriots, 1 hr long cutscenes, backstories, also Meryl marries Johnny out of nowhere with no real buildupor connection between them, etc. At least with 1-3 I was able to piece the story together somewhat.
@@Soup-man The story was great imo, but I agree that some of it was a little much though. For me the stuff with Vamp and Naomi was a stretch. I also hated what they did with Meryl's character (and fucking Johnny - the worst part of the entire game lol). It felt unbelievably forced, unrealistic and anticlimactic to be the only love interest Snake ever had in the series. All that being said, I still love the game lol. And I enjoyed the long cutscenes.
I'm not sure what's more entertaining; the assertion that MGS2 theorized these things prior to their known/commercial implementation, or your segment about security concerns harping solely on the US' security apparatus. Kojima, like most scifi writers, does his homework. He creates his fiction around outcomes theorized by professors, market analysis, and military/commercial patents and submittal/acquisitions programs. Good scifi comes off as being somewhat prophetic, but it's more an issue of just reading the tea leaves and making reasoned assumptions regarding how humans will act based on what has happened, what's happening, and what people are currently trying to make happen.
Honestly, with the direction the world has gone I'm beginning to think The Patriots AI was right all along. People aren't capable of having unfettered, unrestricted access in the digital world. We're just destroying ourselves.
This list is so accurate. Thank you Psy. I hope I spelled your name correctly. You are a great presenter and I look forward to all your videos. Keep it up please.
Anyone that read Behold The Pale Horse and The Selfish Gene were not very surprised. This stuff was predicted and known long before MGS2. Though MGS2 is, in my opinion, is the best MGS.
My favourite prediction was that in the future while engaged in a firefight of life and death a partner will seize this opportunity to quiz your knowledge on "Do you know what day it is tomorrow?"
Ain’t nobody discussing how codec calls flood the “game” with exposition. MGS2 predicted the future of gaming. Cinematic story telling over engaging gameplay
I freaked out one of my IT professors thanks to the human centipede episode of South Park. He was monologuing about privacy Vs security & what the government shouldn’t have a right to do, until I reminded him that we all already signed away our right to privacy thanks to the terms and conditions of our human tracking devices aka cell phone contracts. Take yours out and give it a read sometime!
Neither. Everybody paying attention could have seen this stuff coming, and most people behind these developments never touched a Metal Gear game in their lives.
(The more I think about it, I believe, that Hideo Kojima actually being a time traveler from the future, seems more and more likely.)Oo. 🤔 Just kidding - or am I????? 😏😜😂
Honestly with the way the world is going, and how the unfettered flow of digital information (social media) has negatively affected the world, I'm beginning to think The Patriots AI was right all along.
There when he said "there is no such thing in the world as absolute reality" yo know what he means right? the same goes to "nothing is truth, everything is permitted"
I use a search engine that doesn't track your searches because I got sick of searching for things and then getting ads for that very thing I searched for. I haven't said the name because last time I did on here YT auto deleted my comment. I'll call it "quack quack proceed" lol
Hate to break it to you but they're going down the same route. To avoid the risk of YT doing the same to me (even though you should be able to see it) I would recommend checking out what I'll refer to as 'Courageous' (should pop up in a thesaurus). Its image search still directs to the one that owns YT but what can you do.
I think anyone who thinks Hideo Kojima smoked a blunt and sat down to write this whole thing, "predicting the future" without doing any research or reading books that did all the "predicting" about the topic, is an absolute dumdum. The existence of all these dummies, i gotta say, has been accurately predicted. 👍🏻

It predicted that in the future all bandanas will give us infinite ammo.
That fact was clearly already established in MGS1, which also proved genome soldiers can't ses the colour green (hence why stealth camo works 🤣)
Nope. Just a special bandana can do it. Before any new game plus, he technically wore a bandana. Sadly, i've yet to find that special bandana in stores, but perhaps one day...
@kingjamos Did you get the stealth camo? Try again to get the bandana. 😅 (sarcasm LoL)

It's old as humanity. No need to wait for social media to know that. You have the Bible for example.

Also we are not far from having codecs. Some headphones have bone conductive audio now. Makes MGS4 closer to truth than fiction.
Those don't count. Bone conduction headphones are nowhere near a codec.
MGS4 is a mess imo, but it is about Proxy wars. So it's not that far off

If I remember correctly the UK 2002 release of M GS2 didn't have any VR missions. The VR missions featured on the MGS2 Substance release.
