Thank you Ted! Sorry for the late reply! Yes, these Night Train amps sound great! I played mine through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe extension cabinet (1x12). Cheers!
@@jbatista9789 No prob. Your timing is somewhat ironic, actually. I bought that same Night Train head back when I messaged you, and then bought a Fender Blues Jr. combo before ever getting a cab for the Vox head. Figured I'd just sell off the Vox and keep the Fender combo. I actually ended up not loving the Fender. I don't play loud enough at home to push that amp to a place that takes advantage of its character. So... I scored the matching 1x12 Vox (Greenback) cab for the Night Train and am SO happy I didn't dump the head. So far I've only put Lollar Low Wind Imperials through it. Can't wait to try my strat. Bad decision averted! Selling the Blues Jr. Thanks again for your vid!
@@skone9965 I hear what you're saying about the blues jr. The half power switch on the Night Train is nice to have. I'm glad you ended up keeping and liking it, it's a great little amp. Happy you enjoyed the video too! Cheers!
I did change them! My go-to tube combination is JJ power tubes, and Sovtek (12ax7 LPS) preamp tubes. Nothing wrong with experimenting with some tubes to get the desired sound! Good luck!
The amp attenuates down to 7.5 Watts, so it's decent for home recording volume-wise. If you need something to be really quiet, you should look into the Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister heads. I have one and it attenuates down to 1W. It also has built-in speaker emulation for practicing/recording with headphones, so it would be complete silent to everyone else in your home.
@@jbatista9789 I mean 15w is not that loud.. I have someone who sells that on eBay pretty cheap. That’s why I’m asking. Normally I would like to have that typical Marshall sound like the origin series.. but those are pretty loud
Thanks! I mean, I love the Vox, but to be honest, the Marshall Origin 20 is the better amp. They sound great, direct out, and an effects loop, all at a really good price!
@@jbatista9789 I'll go for the marshall but the 50 watt instead of the 20 since i found a great deal on one. I tried a used night train 15 and it was great but the marshall sounded a bit more alive.
@@gustafrenstrom8549 The 50W will be good. Makes me miss my old JCM2000 DLS50's! And yeah, the Night Train is great and has it's uses.... but it can't compete with a 50W Marshall! All the best with the new amp!
@@gustafrenstrom8549 By the way, I just came across this older DOD Distortion pedal and it sounded great! I posted up a quick video... you should check it out if you've got time. Sometimes gear just surprises you!
@@jbatista9789 yeah you can't go wrong with a 50w marshall! I love DOD! I recently got their carcora fuzz which is amazing it makes my tiny solid state orange sound huge so i'll definetly check out your video.
The clean headroom is good for smaller clubs and outdoor events. For most gigs now, your amp gets mic'd up anyways, so you don't have to crank it up all the way to the point of the power tubes breaking up. A good speaker cabinet is essential as well!
You almost played the better call Saul theme!
You got some Good rhythm chops!!
Great job ! I have a Night Train and you’ve helped me with new tone ideas.
Dude that thing does rock i love the amp!
Yeah, it's a great little amp!
Great review of this amp. Nicely done!
Thank you!
Nice amp and great playing my friend 👍🏻 Have a good day!
Thanks, you too!
Great Job Bro 👊 beautiful Vox 💪"ZIO FENDER"
Thank you!
It must not be very loud at all since I can hear your pick strumming and finger movement on strings.
Damn, does that sound great or what? Looking at one used online and came here to hear it. What cabinet are you playing through?

which speakers are you using my friend ?
You change the tube right? beacause mine doesn't sound like that..

I use a JJ ecc803s in V1. Opens it up a bit, to my ears.
What do you guys think about using this for home recording? It shouldn’t be to loud for my neighbours

how is the clean headroom on this for playing live??

Odd you played in triode mode the whole time.
Yeah, I forgot to get some clips at full power (pentode) as well!
