After you decipher this puzzle, you could fly to this 8th Frozen Planet which used to be the home world of an ancient civilisation. Someone did decompile the game files after the update and confirmed that the lights on the arch are supposed to correspond to different planets in the Kerbol system. There's also a Moho light hidden under the rock on the left side of the arch, which also indicates that the missing planets are there.
    I also saw someone point out that if the pattern continues on the other side, then it would have Moho, Kerbin, Dres, and Eeloo, which might mean there's an 8th planet after Jool to balance it out. In the actual Kerbol system, it would probably be past Eeloo, if they continue the pattern of switching from left to right as you get further out.
    I.e: (left - 1) Moho, (right - 1) Eve, (left - 2) Kerbin, (right - 2) Duna, (left - 3) Dres, (right - 3) Jool, (left - 4) Eeloo, (right - 4) planet 8?

    I definitely think they're going back to the old lore of KSP and that the arches are some sort of transportation device that the ancient civilisation used to use. Maybe they changed the lore and the civilisation actually moved to one of the other star systems and we'll find clues of this on the arc in ksp2?
    I hope they’re just a cosmetic thing tho, I don’t want to be able to just teleport, you should have to actually use interstellar travel
    I agree that it’s definitely a map of the kerbol system, however I don’t see how a map of the kerbol system would be much help to us, so I think there must be some secret with the arch, for example that it used to be a transportation thingy.
    And maybe it will help us unlock the map to the other star systems or something

    • @ShadowZone

      I believe that portals or stargates would make the entire interstellar travel part of KSP2 more or less irrelevant. That's why I am in the "it's a map" camp. We know there will be 2 more star systems and there are 2 more arches on Mun. The one exposed now shows the Kerbolar system we all know. The other two might be hiding maps for the upcoming systems for interstellar travel.

  • @TanyaLairdCivil
    @TanyaLairdCivil Год назад +37

    One possibility is that there is another planet in the KSP system, but that it's very, very far out. I'm thinking something like the hypothetical Planet 9, a large planet in the far outer solar system. Models for this estimate an orbital distance about 20x that of Neptune. That would mesh nicely with the cartoon @6:53. In that drawing, the distant planet is clearly around Kerbol itself, not some distant star.
    From a developer/game perspective, this could make a lot of sense. Interstellar travel in-game will require a lot of new fundamental mechanics, new types of trajectories, etc, that challenge the fundamental way KSP 1 was built, around a heliocentric universe. But a distant world around Kerbol would be just another planet, requiring no fundamental change to the game architecture. However, it would still be much further away than Jool or Eeloo, providing a strong incentive to use the more exotic engine types being developed for KSP2. It allows an in-game reason to use a lot of the interstellar-capable engines while still sticking to a single-system game architecture.

    • @NotMyActualName_
      @NotMyActualName_ Год назад +3

      100% agree, from a game development standpoint adding a super far out planet past eeloo can make sense from a lore standpoint (it's so far out that it's barely detectable) plus from a gameplay perspective it gives the devs a reason to have interstellar-class parts for an in-system planet without having to actually having the interstellar game mechanics in place yet. Plus it lets them add content to the early access game besides just new parts. Players will want something NEW to do besides the 7 planets and assorted moons we're already familiar with. Adding an ice giant on the outskirts of the solar system is a perfect choice for all the reasons you mentioned.

    • @bryantarms
      @bryantarms Год назад +1

      Yes. And wouldn't it be great if that planet is actually a moon around an ancient, dormant, and minimally sized stellar-mass black hole. Maybe the Kerbal system is a binary system! The gravity assist around that thing could help with travel to other systems. That burned-out half of the Kerbal system could also be useful for enhancing the lore by being the former home planet of an interplanetary species wiped out by the black hole's supernova event.
      Anyway, a 'star gate' system of interstellar travel would be lame.

    • @niri2506
      @niri2506 Год назад

      Why would it be a problem to add interstellar travel with the currently available mechanics? Yeah distances are insane and no Kerbal on the home planet would be alive at the time the mission reaches it's target (without FTL travel of course) but all you would have to do is treat the whole Kerbal solar system like a planet regarding spheres of influence.

    • @NotMyActualName_
      @NotMyActualName_ Год назад +1

      @@NotMyActualName_ oh okay 😅 I thought it might be possible to simply convert Kerbol to a "planet" and add a super massive black hole as the new "sun" in the center of the galaxy and add additional solar systems (which again would just act like other planetary systems) from there.
      Hmmm that worries me for the possibility of interstellar travel for KSP2. They already said they want to slowly add more stuff to the game and get the basics right first. If the new engine got the same issue that would likely make interstellar travel impossible 🙄

  • @ravenna6543

    You know what, I kinda think the roadmap update cycles for early access are going to provide a fun little waiting game in itself after Science. Think, you'll have time enough to fully explore the new solar system gather science, then they add Colonies at which point to colonize planets and ready up your refueling stations and whatnot, then they add Inter-Stellar travel where you can use those facilities to prepare your interstellar ships, then you'll be able to use the ship you've built to Explore. This is all assuming the updates don't just break the saves though

    The "secret planet" was supposed to be a big easter egg for ksp but then it was scrapped by the devs. You were supposed to find the "secret planet" by finding structures or landshapes on different planets.
    You can find one of these in duna; the SSTV pyramid, decoding it would show a piece of a map that was going to be used on the easter egg.
    The planet lore was about kerbal history, about a civilization that love or was forced to launch stuff to the space trying to reach somewhere or place and one of them was kerbin. In the game the planet was supposed to be frozen with ancient cities on surface.
    While ksp2 was being developed, i saw a post about this and searched through ksp 2 videos to find something about it. And i found the same thing in 6:49 which led me to think "the secret planet will be added in ksp 2". At the end of some videos you would get a ksp gameplay of a lander landing to the mun (i thought it was going to be a surprise update for ksp) and it ends up crashing to the mun arch causing it to break and update the game. (you can watch this on the latest video "Kerbal Space Program 2: Episode 7 - Recording Rockets" on youtube).
    Most likely devs will add this easter egg. The devs might did some changes to the "secret planet" lore and made it a alien planet but still this is really cool.
    and can somebody crash to the mun arch on high speeds? it may reveal something.

    1:17 a kerbal points at the kraken, and the kraken lifts up an arm. The kraken's lifted arm could be:
    1. A wave of greeting, symbolizing an alliance between kerbals and the kraken, and some sort of powerful and mystifying engine technology necessary to travel beyond the 10th planet of the kerbolar system, whose part description rumors that it is powered by the kraken.
    2. A wave of greeting because the kraken has been found by kerbals on the 10th planet as indicated in the map, or through a gateway located on the 10th planet.
    3. A palm-out hand signal to stop, meaning the kraken can no longer be found or summoned, or has been banished.
    4. A palm-out hand signal to stop and have mercy, as the developers attack the kraken with intent to destroy it.

      There is an upside down 1.875m engine plate between the conical and the cylindrical fuel tanks of the transfer stage. I have disabled the shroud in the parts menu so when adding something to the "bottom" it looks like it floats in the air. Similar to how interstage truss nodes work in fairings but with the added bonus that you can decouple the part(s) attached to it.

    Watch them pull a Dark Souls DLC situation where now you need to get to the Mun arch, which will turn into a portal if you took a surface sample from the lowest point of the mo-hole, brought the sample to a research lab landed on Eeloo, brought back to Kerbin, brought it back to the Mun arch, then waited for Feb 24 2023 (in real-time), then you install, and finally begin playing.

    I LOVE the passion going into KSP2 and the fact that they got actual recording of the VAB ambience and a rocket launch shows their dedication towards it. However If im to be brutally honest that engine sound for the "in-game audio" was.. quite bad. And incorrect for a liquid only rocket that was shown. I really hope its cleaned up for release because theres way too much fuzz and white noise. Rocket Sound Enhancement for KSP1 sounds miles better then what we hear in that clip.

    I've been so worried about KPS2's future ever since the trouble started, but watching him record all the audio with such passion, well, it really made me think, "Maybe it's gonna be okay"
    KSP is a one-of-a-kind game (unfortunately), and KSP2 seems like it has the ability to surpass it in every way with the goals it's set. Seeing it's development hit the rocks was such a letdown, so it was nice to finally feel like we might still get the KSP2 we're all hoping for. I mean, whens the next time someone will make an in-depth space flight sim oozing with equal parts math and charm??

    Well at the very least I would hope for more easter eggs like KSP1, but having a full story would seem inappropriate for such a presumably open world game. Fortunately I think you could go for something somewhere in between. If the story is conveyed via encountering ancient alien ruins then the game "Outer Wilds" shows what that might look like.
