Thank you for this. Up to now I've only been writing Python in Jupyter notebooks for my Data Analytics studies and really wanted to break free of Jupyter and get experience on other platforms. This was FABULOUS to give me a taste of what it would be like to work in Spyder and help break down my "fear of the unknown" without having to invest an hour or more to watch a full demo. Really appreciate your help!

These are good tips. I'm new to Spyder and python in general.
Did you know you can change the value of variables in the variable explorer? Just double-click the value to change it to anything you want. You can check that it's changed in the console. However, when you run the script again, it will change back.

I've been using Spyder for a few months now and it's quickly become my favorite IDE for Python (others I've tried are Jupyter notebooks, the free version of PyCharm, and Python's own IDLE).
There are plenty more features not shown in the video like projects handling, the debugger (and the way it's integrated into the variable explorer), its in-built file manager, direct access to the terminal, the code analyzer, configurable hotkeys, the comprehensive functionality built into the editor, and probably a ton of stuff that I either didn't think of or am unaware of.
Of course this is just my opinion -- you say tom-AY-to, I say tom-AR-to.

You motivated it me to finally start learning Python and pick up my previously learned basics again.
I am actually trying to build a Binance bot using your previous video but not in Jupyter but in Spyder. I figure might as well start using Spyder immediately.
Are there any big differences I should be aware of when running the scripts to automate the bot? Would love to see a full video on spider usage and automated bot deployment.

Right now I have not planned on additional Spyder videos but please consider the following as you recently commented you just started with Python.
The IDE which you are using is a nice tool and can be helpful but is not that important to learn Python. Try to focus on the basic syntax, find the field you are interested in (e.g. Webdev, Data Science, Analytics,....) and then build some stuff (in the best case something what you are interested in in your private life and not just a project which you are getting suggested).
I hope I could help you out with that!

I just started learning Python/Spyder. I have tried to understand how Spyder works by on-line search. This video is definitely a better one in terms of precise and clear explanation on the basics of Spyder. My Python codes need to import various modules, which I found most difficult to handle. Now I am able to create an environment that includes all required modules in conda navigator and then write the script and run in Spyder. But I need to share the code with others and am wondering if I can use Spyder to create a package(folder) that includes all necessary files so that the other people can run from cmd. I did some on-line search, but did not find much useful information. Is it something you can explain in a few sentences or point to some resources? Thanks.

If you open spyder through anaconda, will the environment automatically be a conda environment? Also with respect to install packages, can we do 'pip install' in the shell? Thanks for the video also!

    • @Algovibes
      @Algovibes  3 года назад

yep, Spyder is part of the conda distribution. You can install packages using the shell typing in: !pip install package.
But also packages which you are installing in the conda env (say in the terminal or even via Jupyter) will be accessible via Spyder.

      Hi mate,
could you specify your question a bit?
If you really want to get rid of the variable explorer icon in the top right click on:
View -> Panes -> uncheck the variable explorer
If you just want to clear the variables in the variable explorer you can click the rubber icon.
Please let me know if this has solved your question.

I can highly recommend the variable explorer. You can check out the data frames in a very detailed way and create new data frames and compare them.
