Danger man you just finished suffering through the Acolyte & then they hit you with this 💩 how much more can you take man🤯 😆 your sacrifice is greatly appreciated 👍🏾
I legit thought for a moment S31 was some generic SyFy Movie special after a moment. I couldn't see how the movie fits anywhere within the Trek realm AT ALL!!!
I knew Section 31 was going to be crap. They exceeded my expectations (not in a good way). Bravo. As for SNW Season 3, I was hoping that they wouldn't follow what they did in Season 2 and make it pretty much a parody of Star Trek TOS. Well, my hopes have been completely obliterated. It is apparently not possible to have anything resembling good thoughtful writing in live action Star Trek anymore. The only thing close to the spirit of Star Trek is Prodigy. Pretty sad era we're living in. There is so many interesting ideas / topics that could be explored now. What a bloody waste!
I checked out of Strange New Worlds after the musical episode. The crossover with lower decks was just intolerable, and it contaminated the only piece of acceptable kurzman work. I'm out of all but Lower Decks, and that's over soon.
The first 50 seconds on Section 31 trailer was okay but after that, wow horrible. Guardians of the Galaxy meets Suicide Squad. And they turned Strange New Worlds into a Sitcom. Do you think they will ever make actual Star Trek again.
I think we might have had this conversation on discord, but honestly I'm so numb to nu trek at this point. If the harolded best nu trek picard season 3 didn't work forme then nothing will.
Watched BattleStar Galactica Mini Series for the first time as a mix up in my friends DVD collection as I had asked for BSGalatica 1979, but the box had miniseries, By God its the best space battle I have seen in years or better part of 2 decade's, how the space battle are better than STD and the wired action movies called Star Trek 2009 onwards, PS: I have not watched any of the star trek movies before 2009, will do first impression on RUclips when i do
Didn't bother with 31, didn't really believe they were making it. Saw the trailer for Strange New WTF, and left a comment with many F-related words. ;P
I watched the Strange New Worlds clip and just wanted to throw up. And Section 31 didn't help either. Even if you take the name Star Trek out of it, they both just seem like horribly written sci-fi. But here we are with "Tell me you don't know what Star Trek is without saying you don't know what Star Trek is...". Ugh. Well at least we do get a season 4 of Orville eventually.
I honestly enjoy SNW. Not as much as TOS to Enterprise I’ll admit, but I find it a good show. Just not amazing. I’ll reserve judgment for the next season until the episodes are out. Section 31 however looks absolutely horrendous and wish this trailer never existed. I do have to agree though, the Orville has definitely proven to be the show where we can take solace in good writing and stories.
I did watch all of season 1 and 2 of SNW, mostly because I saw a lot of people saying it's good Trek. I think season 1 was a bit better, and I think it's very well directed. But most of the things they did in season 2 frustrated the hell out of me. Between the musical, Spock acting like a child cause he became human suddenly, the crossover with the cartoon, and recreating Balance of Terror. There's so much potential and I think occasionally they get it right, but you can see they desperately want to do their own thing.
You feel my PAIN! The wasted potential of this show is truly off the scale. I read all the comments posted on the trailer video and all were positive and mostly stating in one way or another that they look forward to this crap!!!
i tried to warn everyone, if s3 picard was a "success" and paramount renewed his contract based on someone else trek and not his, his wrath would be great and hed punish fans with a deluge of garbage. he even says it in the trailer "its going to be bumpy, and bad." you think that quote was chosen at random?
Section 31 should be tonally similar to Star Wars: Andor. Narratively, it should be about the inner workings of the Federation Council, and how S31 has ears everywhere. People you think are straight up diplomats or even high-ranking people in the Federation who are actually S31 agents, making sure they know everything that's going on so they can protect the federation At Any Cost. And that is the important thing, AT ANY COST. They do the dirty work that the Federation can't, because of its high ideals. It could've been a very intelligent show about right and wrong, where the line is etc. An example of a great episode would be to show them having Romulan Warbirds to use their stealth, forbidden by the Feds. It could've been one of the most intelligent Star Trek shows of all time, questioning morality, what IS right and wrong, and who decides. What a fucking waste, as usual. Kurtzman and Co are just Woke, infantile people with all the writing ability of a 10-year-old.
Soooo.... a magical injection gives you the logic and discipline of a Vulcan. Apparently Vulcans are now born with supreme logic and discipline -- purely due to genetics. Somebody mention Spock's brother and Star Trek 5 to the writers. This really pisses me off how terrible and careless the writing is.
They can't help themselves at this point, Section 31 has been in the chamber for a while, yet more utter bollocks from NuTrek for me to not even bother with sailing the high seas to watch.
The morality in their normal shows was already questionable (at best) - so, my question is: Where does section 31 fit, anyway??? Like, honestly - what action would *_Section 31_* do, that Burnham, etc wouldn't? I haven't been watching most of NuTrek, but that's the impression that I got. (with the exclusive exception in the new trailer, where they point out that she's slaughtered millions of her own people!?!?? How would that work for Section 31, anyway - this is the sort of person that section 31 does anything TO STOP, so wtf is happening?) The moment that you include whatever would "justify" Giorgio's(spelling?) actions, you have to admit that would have also worked for those other characters (Burnham, etc) as a justification... (I THINK?) This leaves the show with few options: 1. Take the morality to a point somewhere around Disney's _Acolyte_ (Read: literally beyond redemption) 2. Make, just, yet, yet another laser fun times but with an Asian chick this time... 3. Insert so many girl bosses, and explosions _with_ girl bosses, that the viewer can't keep track of how the girls have bossed so hard, in order to keep everyone from realizing just how desperate and hollow Kurtzman is inside. From the beginning of the new trailer: "Okay ladies, now get in formation while I sLaY!" Which option do you think they're going with... Like, seriously. wow. I have never been more confused about what a show is supposed to be... While Never having been so certain that I wasn't going to like the show. I am - officially - in awe.
Watched the trailers to see what you were talking about and cringe seems so inadequate a word. About the only new Trek I've enjoyed at all is Star Trek Prodigy the one that's supposed to be for kids but has more emotional maturity than any of the live action stuff I've seen so far. Season Two of Prodigy has been enjoyable and look forward to watching more of it. On the other hand, SNW comes off as being made by people who only know Star Trek from memes and tropes. Whatever failings original Trek might have had, it wasn't played as camp. While the show had moments of humour it did take itself otherwise seriously. Season three if this is the example they chose to lead with is going to be unwatchable.
I totally agree that it is the biggest waste of potential for Trek in it's history and will remain so for generations. I think this will not be viewed so kindly by Trek fans, 30 years from now. This is another season of trash. I will pass.
I might have watched Section 31 if I hadn't been so turned off by the exploitation of the Star Trek name. What an insult to fans! Why not call it Spies in Space or something else more accurate. As for SNW, since it can't decide what genre it represents -- comedy, science fiction, farce, musical, chorus line, propaganda...with so few episodes per season (another insult!) they can't afford to avoid defining what the heck the show is supposed to be. I love the cast...as for the show, the first two seasons were disasters because of the horrid writing, but I still watched just to enjoy the characters of Pike and Ortegas. Like a few of the other characters as well, but sadly, No. 1 and the frowny face (sorry, my memory ain't what it used to be) were one-shot wonders...and they shot it with the *shocking* news that they're lovers. Oh ...duh. They need to be expanded, but I'm not sure the writers are capable of being anything beyond predictable.
Absolutely terrible. I actually like Strange New Worlds, despite it's flaws, but this looks completely ridiculous. Why did their hairstyles change? It makes no sense. At least Uhura looks good, now that she has hair. Good thing there was Star Trek: Prodigy, who's 2nd season is on Netflix. I doubted it at first, but that's a really good show.
Paramount+ make CW tier sci-fi trash and slap the Star Trek brand name on it to boost any interest in these shows. Once you get past their misuse of the brand and realise they stopped making star trek in the 2000s, you don't care about this trash anymore, other than to laugh at it. Pakleds have taken over the franchise "make it go!"
Something about the section 31 trailer just felt so deliberately nasty? Like a giant, gleeful middle finger to the audience. Everything up to this point, yeah a lot of it has been godawful but I never subscribed to the idea that they were deliberately killing Star Trek, trying to ruin it, cackling maniacally as they stomped all over canon. A lot of reviewers attributed malice to the show runners’ actions. I didn’t. I could tell they were at least trying to make a decent Star Trek show, and while I didn’t care for most of what they did or how they did it, I saw that there was mostly good faith effort. This? This honestly feels like an intentional effort to ruin the franchise. Or the absolute most charitable interpretation I can come up with: it’s someone’s old edgy fanfic from when they were 15, with the serial numbers filed off and names changed. It’s really trite these days to say “this isn’t Star Trek”, but nothing about that trailer had anything to do with Star Trek, and I hope Beyoncé files a cease and desist to stop them using her song ever again.
I did not see the trailer. I love Star Trek since 1989. But since 2005 it got worse. And the SNW is not as good as I thought. For me just Lower Deck and a bit of Prodigy... Oh my god! I watched the Section 31 trailer! It's awful!
Not even Batman with Adam West was so campy, what an abomination of a show. Did u hear also tawny Newsome doing live comedy show star trek? We're doomed 😲
The only thing I'm even remotely looking forward to is Lower Decks! Yes, I actually like Lower Decks, I think it's ironically the closest to OG Trek we have. It's daft, but it has it's thought provoking moments, and the crew genuinely work together and professionally when they actually have to solve a problem. 31, doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'm writing a 31 fan film atm set during the Enterprise era Romulan War, if it ever gets made it'll be leagues better than this shit! SNW, trying too hard to be funny, it's cringeworthy!
Nope. Star Trek doesn't break the fourth walls and is not a parody of itself. Prodigy is, by far, the most Star Trek - like in spirit. And it's a show made for kids -- go figure.
OK, well...Star Trek had a good run, I'm sure someone will watch this dreck, but it won't be Star Trek fans, bet your house on it. I am done! No SNW, LD, any more of this crap. "Splurge out" is a great way to describe it Danger Man! 😡
Trailers use to get me excited- sometimes they would be better than the films Nowadays, trailers from most franchises that we grew up loving make my hate for what these iconic brands have become utterly vindicated Sick of it Oh and this may not go down well but I dislike that Tawny Newton and the character she plays and now she's writing a new trek show comedy!!! What writing credentials does she have? Go write stuff by all means but do your own things
Pike is like f,in Johnny bravo with that hair style 😂
I couldn't even get 2 minutes into snw before clicking away. 5MINUTES WHHYYYYYYYYY
How is a show made for kids (Prodigy) more interesting, intelligent and thoughtful than one apparently made for adults?
Spot on
Prodigy is the best trek since Enterprise
Loved it
just when you don't think it can possibly get ANY worse...... SECTION 31!!!!
Section 31 official trailer video from Paramount+: 17,000 dislikes vs. 2,700 likes at this point. That about says it all.
The music overall and the graphic displays in between the scenes are so not Startrek. It was painfull to watch.
Danger man you just finished suffering through the Acolyte & then they hit you with this 💩 how much more can you take man🤯 😆 your sacrifice is greatly appreciated 👍🏾
I'm starting to feel old and jaded. Please give me more TNG.
I'm also getting old, I will rewatch my DS9 dvds.
I legit thought for a moment S31 was some generic SyFy Movie special after a moment. I couldn't see how the movie fits anywhere within the Trek realm AT ALL!!!
Taking the hit for us. Thanks! Pike has the Kid and Play height hair going...
Stupendous reaction. I started laughing as soon as the video started. Chin Up. They'll be every bit as good as you think they won't be.
Just remember snw also probably will have a s4 too. GOD HELP US ALL OR KAHLESS
Thank you for doing these reviews so I don't have to waste my life watching this rubbish, you do a fantastic service for the community.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...these reviews are always more entertaining than the show itself.
That face says it all
I think we might have had this conversation on discord, but honestly I'm so numb to nu trek at this point. If the harolded best nu trek picard season 3 didn't work forme then nothing will.
I'm glad you can at least laugh. I'm fucking boiling with anger.

STN was a badly hidden TOS remake with all the "witty" of modern ST.
Now they double down on the show as a big Saturday Night Live segment.
You feel my PAIN! The wasted potential of this show is truly off the scale. I read all the comments posted on the trailer video and all were positive and mostly stating in one way or another that they look forward to this crap!!!
S31 - fast and furious- huh
Sounds like *Star Trek* is trying to compete with *Star Wars* again. Section 31 is their *Acolyte!*
i tried to warn everyone, if s3 picard was a "success" and paramount renewed his contract based on someone else trek and not his, his wrath would be great and hed punish fans with a deluge of garbage. he even says it in the trailer "its going to be bumpy, and bad." you think that quote was chosen at random?
Section 31 is just set peices youll watch the whole thing and 30mins later you wouldve forgotten what happened.
Section 31 should be tonally similar to Star Wars: Andor. Narratively, it should be about the inner workings of the Federation Council, and how S31 has ears everywhere. You are missing out. Lower Decks is the only one worth a damn.
Yea kinda I thought the trailer for s4 of lower decks was better in my opinion
Soooo.... a magical injection gives you the logic and discipline of a Vulcan. Apparently Vulcans are now born with supreme logic and discipline -- purely due to genetics. WTF?
Do their ears become pointed?
"Four and a half Vulcans to beam up" Spock is being bullied a lot in this trailer. Star Trek should be better than this type of petty behavior.
The morality in their normal shows was already questionable (at best) - so, my question is: Where does section 31 fit, anyway???

I did not see the trailer. I love Star Trek since 1989. But since 2005 it got worse. And the SNW is not as good as I thought. For me just Lower Deck and a bit of Prodigy...

Section 31 trailer felt nothing like Star Trek. Agreed... it was awful.
I wont be watching any of this so called star trek garbage, live long and prosper my friend 🖖
Wow that SNW trailer was something els. so many cringe jokes every few seconds. Like watching that garbage Lower Decks
They've turned SNW into a parody of TOS. It all started in Season 2.
The trailer is literal trash.
I want to know who signed it off and why.

Well, I stopped watching most of new Star Trek because it doesn't interest me at all. So sad because Star Trek was great at one time.
I liked the SNW trailer. But hea, you go ahead and trash it for the views. Section 31 sucked.
Why do Kurtzman trek Vulcans always have Yoda ears ?
