- William Castle's introduction to his cult 1959 film "The Tingler". Castle explains/prepares the cinema audience for his gimmick "Percepto". Random seats were equipped with buzzers which would vibrate the viewers seat simulating attack from "The Tingler!!!" LOL! Enjoy!!!

This was shown at the Saturday morning KIDDIE show when I was 8 & my brother was 6. They really did wire the seats with some kind of buzzer/vibrating thing AND they threw rubber lobsters from the balcony.
My brother was so traumatized my parents almost took him to a psychiatrist. He thought Tinglers were coming out of his closet & had Tingler nightmares every night for 3 months.
We weren't allowed to see scary movies for the next 4 years. :-(

My buddy I went to see The Tingler with had a "Percepto Seat" but I
didn't, so we took turns switching seats, but we didn't scream. We
LOL like hell! Imagine sitting there in a movie and the seat starts
vibrating. BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I love this guy. Look at the smile on his face. I was the showman.

he made a cameo in ivasion of the body snatchers ('78)...it was littered with unusual director cameos.
This movie came out at the peak of the "cold war" and shows the underlying anxiety the public had with regard to nuclear weapons and "communism".
I know which scene your talking about and that freaked me out a bit too!

So many bullshit shoot-em-up movies nowadays. I hope there will be a good, classic, simple movie again soon.
worst movie I've ever seen. Period. Not even better than Aladdin 4.
