I am a guy who are not married and don't have kids.. But I love this channel. Regardless of the topic, I just love the general talks and the kids always makes me smile ❤️
after 2 kids I'm now a 42F bra size and were looking at having a 3rd lol. a good nursing bra is so a must with big boobs. :) but yeah of you can get away with not having to buy them then you go for it!
Thank you!! I feel like RUclips and other platforms create the image that you have to have all these things for your baby. My husband and I live in a small space on a budget, so our first baby was bathed in the laundry basket, changed on the bed and didn't have a stroller for the first few months because she was very happy in the baby wrap. The only thing we spent money on was washable diapers and wipes which saved us money in the long run. The rest we just gathered second or third hand, mostly for free! I had her in France where they also encouraged tracking everything, but it stressed me out so I stopped and she ended up setting her own routine in her own time. My biggest tip for new mommas- try to relax and only worry when it's actually important! Stress - including the financial stress of having to buy so many things- is so bad for your health. Thanks for making this video!
I found that you don't need an excessive amount of baby clothes, especially newborn size. They grow so fast in the first few months that they hardly get to wear their outfits more than a few times! Another thing I have done without is a lot of baby furniture like bouncer, swing, bumbo, walker, stationary jumpers, etc. It's really not necessary! Pick one or two of those and you should be fine. I also really dislike light-up and battery operated, noisy baby toys. I feel like they just overstimulate Baby. Stick with rattles, teethers, or crinkly toys instead.
Delilah! We did it, I’m pregnant! 💜💜 you have been such an inspiration through this journey, you help me stay positive and keep my goals in mind. Thank you so much for your incredible content and positive attitude. So much love from Alberta 💚
I obviously don't know you at all, but I'm so excited for you!!! Congratulations!!! I just had my first 3 weeks ago, and even though she's *still* in the NICU and that really sucks (I basically nice here with her though so that helps, but her daddy misses us terribly) it's still just been the most amazing experience and I feel so blessed to be her mom. And now getting to experience having a baby, I'm just super happy for you. It really is such a blessing, so, congratulations ❤️
A good tip I got regarding wipes: when you put baby down to change baby's diaper, put the cold wipe or two in the top of your shirt near your heart. By the time you need the wipe it will be warm. No wipe warmer needed 😊
Funny thing that I needed almost everything from your list. :) Especially blackout curtains were a lifesaver. Without them my kiddo would woke up at 6 a.m, but with them he was sleeping until 8:30 a.m. Well, it’s one more prove that all kiddos are soooo different.... In Finland we don’t have baths at home, only shower or sauna, so I really needed to have a baby bath . 😅
I totally agree with your list other than the nursing bras. I tried wearing normal bras and I had such a hard time nursing with them. The brand Kindred Bravely makes really nice ones that aren’t super pricey.
I agree with some of these, but personally, I found the nursing bras, baby tub, changing pad, and nipple cream super helpful. I have a very large bust, so just using a normal bra just didn’t work too well. I actually ruined one of my bras doing that. The bath tub was a huge help since we bathed our daughter in there tub with it in the sink. After having her, my core was so shot and I needed her to be up higher. I tried to use my milk for my sore nipples, but it simply wasn’t enough. My daughter had a severe lip and tongue tie, so I was in a lot of pain. Once that was fixed, I still used the cream for tenderness, and it worked like a charm It’s so interesting how everyone has such a different experience!
I agree with the tracking app! I did it with Cohen and I started with Brighton too but I realized a few days ago that it's just anxiety inducing and I stopped and it's been so great the last few days.
Elle Lindquist I agree Elle! I didn’t have time to keep track with my son, I didn’t keep track of diapers changes, and he nursed on command so I didn’t track that either. By the way, Love you Elle ❤️
SO STRESSFUL. I would set alarms through the night so that my son wouldn't go more than 3 hours since the start of his last feed... which, since feeds and diaper changes took about an hour, that meant I was getting 2 hours (or less) of sleep in a row. Every single time, I had to wake him up, and he was hardly ever hungry enough to eat a full feed at night... even from about 1 week old. Adding the stress of recording minutes fed/on what side/when/ pee and poop diapers.... it was insane the anxiety it created. Next time, as long as my child is behaving normally and having good pees, I'm not waking them up in the night OR recording any of it.
For me it would be different, it helps me keep track because I can’t keep track of time, so it helps me figure out what to start with when she wakes up grumpy. I don’t put pressure on tracking it every time, I just track feeds and nappies (I keep forgetting though)
Such a great video! Here are 12 Alternative Product Suggestions (a mixture of Delilah and my own) for new moms: 1. Coconut oil, Corn Starch 2. Coconut oil , natural bath oil (we use Epimax bath oil - so no need for expensive lotions) 3. Warm socks if baby needs something over their feet. 4. Warm baby wipes in bra before using on baby especially in winter, also gives a little cool relieve to moms who breastfeed. 5. Any WIRELESS bra (wired bra's can cause mastitis) , Cotton on bralettes are sometimes on sale , super cheap. 6. Bath tub inserts or holding baby while taking a bath or showering (you would have to be super careful but it is possible). 7. Changing pad on table/dresser 8. (I loved using nipple cream after every feed) but you can also use your own breast milk for free. 9. Agree and Disagree , cause L's nails grow crazy fast and tears into his skin if we don't clip them but we do use normal nail clippers and not a special baby one. 10. Feed on demand, don't force a routine from day 1 , it creates unnecessary stress. 11. Let babies fall asleep in most types of "scenarios" to ensure they don't struggle in strange places or limit when and where they can fall asleep. 12. Cloth Diapers are great to reduce waste, but you can also immediately trow out diapers in an outside bin.
YES about the tracking app! It made me even more obsessed and aware of how much sleep we are both NOT getting. Not tracking has helped me to be a lot calmer.
I totally agree with the wipe warmer and changing table! We ditched both after our first daughter turned a year old, and never even thought about using them with our second! We also never used the portable changing pads that go in the diaper bag(they were changed on the seat), those individual diaper trash bag thingys and I purchased cotton reusable nursing pads(saved SO much money)!! And I used breast milk on every surface of my children🤣 I'm new here, and LOVE that I found your channel! It's so refreshing to fill my mind with Christian advice and share in your mama journey! I love seeing how you handle life with your babes, lets me know I'm not alone with my four year-old and two-year-old daughter's 💗
Right, I went up to a DD with my pregnancy, and I tried nursing in my normal bras when all of my nursing ones were being washed, it was not comfortable.
I went from a 30DDDD to a 34DDD at 6 months pregnant. I do not know what size I will need, but does anyone have advice on where to find or what to look for in nursing bras? Also, since my fetus is living inside my rib cage can I expect my band size will reduce once the pressure is relieved?
I literally disagreed with everything in this video 🤣 my baby wore shoes, she used an amazing diaper cream that was also cheap and worked wonders, we had to buy lotion for her sensitive skin, a wipe warmer was the only way she would stop screaming when we changed her, I could go on but haha I'll leave it there. This is why they say every baby is different. What didn't work for you may be perfect for someone else. :)
I don't think she was saying that something like a diaper warmer isn't nice or helpful, she's saying that it, along with many of the items on her list, are not necessary. And babies aren't supposed to wear shoes until they're walking. So something like that is actually harmful to their little feet.
@@renrensiren112 yes!!! I used the wipeable changing pad but on a changing table!! Which she said she didnt need. Lol I just feel like I love everything I have that she listed and feel all was completely necessary in my house. And shoes on babies are so cute, they keep their feet warm for winter babies like mine was for example. To each their own of course :) no hate to the video just pointing out every one is different.
@@Bea56601 🤣 I doubt the ballet slippers she was in, little more than socks did any harm. The 1000 visits I took her to the doctors and they all commented on how adorable they were never once mentioned it harming her. I'm sure they would have informed me ;)
Christina Eller I agree theres no way they could do long term damage if worn for a few hours only on certain ocassions I have winter babies too so I can totally relate ☺️
It's important you track diapers and feedings because every baby is different and you need to establish what is normal for your baby. Once you have that data, even though it can be stressful, its used to make sure they are healthy when you see the pediatrician, or catch problems early on.
The nurses at the hospital showed me a great trick - they would put the baby hat over the babies eyes like a little sleep mask. It helps when baby wants darkness or when your carrying them under a bright light while they are sleeping. Cheaper than blackout curtains!
Coconut oil is good for nipple cream but dont use vaseline . Its a petroleum products and isn't in gestable. Also lanolin is a grear nipple cream because ita thick and natural. Im a momma to 8 and have used lanolin alot. Basically not much is needed for a newborn just a lot of love. Its all commercialism. My must haves for 8 kids, blanket , cloth diaps, sling.
I agree with most of these, except the diaper genie. I have one, and I love it! We use it and take it out once it is full. No guests have ever turned up their nose, and my husband and I have never noticed a smell. We leave it in the living room, too
I disagree with the nail clipper thing. My daughter's nails grow like crazy and they do not peel off easily. I have to cut hers a lot. I prefer baby safety scissors to clippers but definitely need a pair. I also liked having a change table so I could store nappies and wipes and stuff underneath. This baby I'm getting a dresser and change pad because there is no wardrobe in the room. Instead of a diaper genie or bin (which i know i would be too slack to change) I hung a scented diaper sack on the door and would put the wer diapers into it and then when it was full or there was a poopy one I would knot it and take it straight to the outside trash. Another thing I bought and didn't use is a baby swing, my daughter hated it! Instead we used an old style metal and crocheted bouncer! Cheaper, smaller and portable (great to take to friends houses for dinner etc and we also took it to casual rrestuarants on occasion!). I also wished I didn't get a capsule. It was a pain to get out of the car, it was heavy and I never bothered putting the attachments on my pram to use it 🤦♀️ A rearward facing carseat is much more comfy for baby too
Steph Allen you should try a soft nail file. It is safer than clippers cause there is no stress of “I don’t want to clip the finger tip” with wiggly hands.
My toddler is 2 and we actually still use the changing table. It's a convenient height and makes for a great location to brush teeth, trim nails, fix her hair etc. without bending down/straining our backs.
I'm 22 weeks pregnant and just started chalking out my baby essentials checklist / gift registry. Some of these products you mentioned were exactly the ones I had doubts about. I'll put them on hold and later see if I really, really need them Thank you, Delilah! God bless you and your sweet family.
I wish I saw this video before I had my baby cuz I definitely agreed with everything. Watching other videos made me feel like I had to buy everything. I mean, every one is different with their needs and wants but so far with my 6 month, I've found that a lot of items were really excessive at the end of the day. Thanks Delilah!
Very helpful. Very interesting. Some of these items are just marketing ploys to get us to think we need more than we really do. A real public service you've performed with this vlog. Theodore's looking good.
I'm 20 weeks and trying to plan my baby buying list - this was SUPER helpful information!!! Thank you so much. I'm not super minimalist but I am very budget-concious like a lot of folks so I don't want anything I don't need. Plus, who wants all that extra, non-necessary stuff in the house anyway?! Great video :)
I use a bigger meshed baby bath seat, that way, if she poops or pees, it goes through the holes and down the drain. She sits in the shower with me while I shower myself. That way, I'm with her and we both get clean. You can find this seat at Target or Amazon.
PLEASEEEE do a video on the things you did differently while breastfeeding Eloise Vs. Theo! My baby gets here in 6 weeks and breastfeeding is a mystery to me 🤔
My baby just came 2 weeks ago, and I prepared for breastfeeding by attending a la leche league meeting while pregnant, and taking the online Lactation Link course. Breastfeeding is going really well for us! Good luck to you!
Look in your area for a lactation consultant! It’s not weird go ahead and start researching ones in your area! Also if your very nervous you could try keeping a nipple shield/guard around to help you with nursing until you can see a LC!
This goes to show how differeny moms and babies are. I use almost every item mentioned and would put them on my must haves. Agree 100% with the wipe warmer and diaper genie though.
Yeah, I strongly disagree with the tracking app one. I think it's very important to know how much your baby is eating and making sure they have an adequate amount of wet/dirty diapers. I used it for 6 months with my twins.
I regret buying newborn socks. Both of my daughters were always in footie pajamas or swaddled. Plus those little itty bitty socks were always getting lost because the girls kept somehow taking them off
I found it good to have a few for the clothes people bought me that didn't have foot covers but I totally agree! I rarely used socks and don't think I would purchase more than 3 pairs if I bought them myself.
Due Aug.31st with baby #2. I agree with this list completely! In addition to what you mentioned we also wont be buying special baby towels and washcloths. (Okay maybe one cute towel for pictures... maybe) I realize now how completely overboard we went buying things with our first and how quickly he didnt need them anymore.
Blackout curtains are very helpful for our special needs son. He has epilepsy and is extremely sensitive to light and sound. As a data gal, a tracking app was a no brainer and honestly is very helpful when more than one person is caring for your infant. Our diaper pail has been very helpful. I agree that the other items you mentioned are not necessary.
My mums biggest piece of advice for my husband and I for our first (he’s due in October) is to completely forget about a baby bath! In Australia most laundries have big enough sinks to use as a bath, or to shower with your little one instead and just tag team evening showers with your partner so someone it dry and waiting for them when they’re all nice and clean
I think what most people don't realize is alot of these baby products that are nice but not completely necessary you cna buy second hand. Ive save so much during my pregnancy buying everything second hand. I got a changing table/dresser second hand that allows you to remove the changing pad peice on top and then you just have a dresser that will grow with your kid
I regret buying cloth diapers. I didn't have time to keep up with washing them because my son was really colicky and needed to be held a lot, and he hated the moby wrap (another regret), which was the only baby carrier I had. I recommend the Ubbi diaper pale to any new mamas out there. It only smells if I open the lid, and you can use a regular trash bag with it. I only have to empty it once a week. It's also not super expensive.
I hadn't bought a baby monitor until just a few weeks ago, my youngest is turning 1 soon and my oldest is nearly 4. I really only got it for when I am outside so I don't have to continually poke my head in to make sure he isn't wailing during nap time. I can easily make do without MANY of the popular baby products, and I really don't like cluttering my home with stuff that will only be used for such a short time (plus footing the cash for it, no thanks). Also nursing bras are the worst, but I loved wearing H&M nursing tanks this time around, I literally lived in them for the first 6 months of my baby's life. Great video!
Nursing bras, a diaper genie, nipple cream, and baby nail clippers were essentials for me! Guess it goes to show you how everyone’s needs are different! Agree with the wipe warmer definitely though! I regret buying a big diaper bag that didn’t fit like a backpack and a nursing cover because I ended up never covering up while nursing or just using a swaddle blanket
With my twins, a changing table/pad and diaper genie were a must! we have used them sooo much in the six months we have had out boys. May not work for everyone, but its worth concidering . Don't just toss the idea out right away. Something that doesnt work for you might work for others :)
Lillian Sara I totally agree those two items are a need with twins. I don’t have a changing table i have a dresser with lots of drawers. The top draws are designated for diaper, wipes, and other needs. I didn’t know I needed a diaper genie until my fiancé brought it home ignoring me when I said I didn’t need it. Also, diaper rash creams. I use coconut oil for everything with that said one of my boys got a really nasty diaper rash and aquaphor was the only thing to help. As a second time mom I knew what I loved with my oldest and what I feel would be a waste.
Summer babies don’t need shoes but winter babies do to keep them warm. Nursing bras were more for me then the baby because it made pumping at work a lot more modest. As well as tracking because I am out of the house a lot so knowing how much I need to pump is the difference between a full baby or a hungry baby.
I kept my baby purchases minimal, and I got 80% of my stuff used/thrifted. The only things I never used were a baby swing and jumper because my daughter hated them. I didn't buy the gimmicky wipe warmers and such either. My nursing bras were very useful. I got a 3 pack cheap from Amazon. My pre pregnancy bras were padded underwire and weren't flexible enough to pull down. Bralettes sound like a good option, but I've never found one that provides enough coverage or support for me.
I agree with the tracking so much! I tried tracking with my first and was stressed when I went to work and no one else would track when they watched my daughter. Now with my son I dont track at all. I do plan to track sleep patterns when we start the transition to his own room when he is older.
I'm glad we bought a changing table, because right after giving birth, it wasn't comfortable to change my baby in any position other than standing :'D (we didn't have a dresser at the time) I wholeheartedly agree with the video though, you really don't need all those things that people try to sell you.
Very minimalist approach. I do get that as I dislike clutter as well. I agree with most list except for the bath, we still bought a separate one with a stand as for someone who’s undergone three csections, bending over our standard bath in the bathroom is just impossible postpartum and I wouldn’t risk it.
So impressed by the amount of content you manage to put out! Keep it up! I'm not a mom, nor a wife but I love your videos and I'm definitely taking notes for the future 😂
I've been pretty lucky with diaper rash. I have a small sample tube of Destin that I've used so little of and that's all. Our lack of diaper rash may be attributed to our cloth diapering! Also my changing table cost me $10 on FB marketplace. I had a c section and it was a life saver! Bending over to change even over the couch was so painful! Was so happy I had it!
Tip for the wipes: Instead of using pre-packaged baby wipes, just have a thermos of warm water and use small squares of fabric with just the warm water on them. You can use them once and then put them in the wash. Especially if you're cloth diapering, it's not much of an extra chore to wash them.
1. For rashes i used Lard and redness got resolved after the first application, my babies skin was already peeling and this worked like magic, never again had a rash. 2. I agree with all of the mentioned above, i also own a diaper genie trash can and it is still in the box, might use it as baby gets older and poop starts to smell, for now we are fine because it does not smell yet. 3. For nipple cream i only needed the small one given by the hospital, if it is not offered ask for it. You wont need other ones or try coconut oil like she said i havent tried it.
The things my son liked the best are 1) homemade wooden rattles 2) a sensory crinkly fabric book 3) a dog stuffed animal 4) his own feet and hands . All the noisy toys scared him or he just wasn’t interested, and all they did was annoy the heck out his parents!!!
A change table was a lifesaver for me after I had my son who's almost 6 now. I had a c-section so getting up off the floor or bending over to change on the bed was hard.
Susan McDermott I had a changing pad on the dresser and I used it everyday for almost a year. I had a c-section too and it was too painful to change anywhere else
Interesting take and I wish that I could agree on all of them. I broke my back in a bad car accident when I was 16 and can’t shower or have a bath outside a certain scalding hot temperature without my back seizing up and being unable to move, so I can’t bathe with my baby. Baby baths are so helpful in that regard. And I wish that I could use corn starch, but my boyfriend has a corn allergy and we found out when he was holding our son and he broke out in the most horrifying rash. Rushed him to the hospital as we had no idea what was going on. Found out he had a corn allergy and doctor told us to switch to something else for our son. Once we switched to a diaper cream, he didn’t break out again. But everything else I do agree with. Thanks for being upfront and honest.
Hi Delilah! My kids are about the same age as yours and with that experience I can say- I TOTALLY agree with all these. Diaper creams, nursing bras, baby bath tubs, etc... Unnecessary! I can vouch for you moms-to-be reading this!! Delilah is 100% right!
Pro tip: instead of a wipe warmer, just grab a bowl of warm water and dip your wipes into it right before you use them. I had a winter baby and this made all the difference
I've never purchased a baby bath. I use a bathroom sink once or twice if necessary before my bleeding stops. Once I've stopped that I just bath with baby in the tub! Once baby can sit up by herself I start bathing baby in the kitchen sink until she outgrows that and moves to the actual tub by herself.
7 months pregnant with my second child and I do have to say a few of these items my husband and I used a ton. Nursing bras are essential for large breasts, consider yourself lucky if you can get away with bralettes. Diaper changing tables are actually super convenient after bath time and for getting them dressed throughout the day. Also for messy diapers. We did have one of those fold out mats that you can just wipe down 2 other places in our house though for when we didn’t want to get up to go change my son. Another completely unnecessary purchase though, baby towels and wash rags..I think I used one once. We just used our normal towels, he never broke out or had skin issues.
I also skip diaper cream and lotions. I use coconut oil for skin issues. I also never use shoes until my kiddos are walking, I love bare toes 😊 no wipe warmers here either. I do like nursing bras but nursing shirts have been a waste of money for me. I have a bathtub but change table is the floor in our house. The covers for the pads are just a make work project. I love baby clippers, mine are too big and I can’t get an accurate clip and I’m scared I’ll cut them too short. No diaper pail here, just a garbage can and empty it often. I love all the ideas to make life more simple with babies. Other things to forego can be wash clothes/towels specific to babies, baby laundry soap (just use a non toxic one for the whole fam) a full high chair (there are inexpensive ones that attach to an adult chair) specific diaper bag. You can also be so minimal with toys and clothes. Buying stuff is fun too but babies can be very inexpensive if you want.
It was very interesting to watch this video now after watching your newest videos with baby Annie. :) Opinions change as we learn and grow older. But overall I think these recommendation should be considered as ideas to considers only as each mom/baby their needs differ. For example my baby has naturally extremely sensitive and dry skin so lotions were absolutely essential since day one. Same with bras etc. What's also interesting is the very typical American/Canadian use of sinks for bathing babies, that is so handy but here in Europe (most places I think), the sinks are so small , there's not a chance it could work safely unless you have the money to pay for a castom one.
As someone with large breasts, a nursing bra is a need. I also live by my tracking app and like knowing when things happened so we don't have to guess. The diaper genie we like, but got it secondhand for free from my cousin haha. I would not spend my own money on it. Everything else I agree with!
Disagree with the nursing bras... cannot live without mine.. and you deffo need a changing pad for blow outs... unless you want poo everywhere.. it just makes it less stressful. I don't use it unless that happens but when it does I'm so happy I have it
I love my nursing bras! I got really inexpensive ones from amazon and I wore them while being pregnant too cause they’re so comfy. But of course everyone has to do what works for them!
I saw a truck where a woman puts her baby in the tub, but rests them on her feet to hold on to them. Thought that was a neat alternative to buying a baby tub. Dressers with a changing pad are the way to go. My youngest sister is 6 and it’s nice that she’s had that dresser all these years and can keep the rest of her life instead of a changing table that could only be used a short while.
Wipe Warner & Blackout curtains were literally my top must-haves lol. With sound machine too. My baby is NOT HAPPY with a cold wipe. Ever. Guess you could blame the fact that she’s never known any different but... I’m sure glad we were given one! Nursing bras too. Total life savers for me. Will agree that most are way overpriced tho- but I guess I see it as a splurge-worthy item. Only thing I have against changing babies on the bed is the fact that uncontainable messes happen where having a simple towel laying down just wouldn’t cut it. Recommend AT LEAST putting a change pad on top of dresser👍 changing tables are TOTALLY pointless. Never heard anyone discourage against mini nail clippers either!!😦 Those are SO so essential!! Most have safety features & are much smaller than regular over sized ones that would butcher little baby’s tiny nails.. I still need to try out one of the electric trimmer/filers..they seem like total game changers & much more practical/easy to use. Especially with quietly babies. Diaper genie too??? Damn girl. Another must have for me👋 ha Biggest one that confuses me with many parents is the whole showering together thing. We take baths with our little one & but the idea of trying to get anything actually clean between either of us while standing in a shower is so confusing to me & even a bit terrifying😮😆 I regret more than anything - buying too many clothes, just in general. Even if they were simple outfits. For the first year they literally live in footed pjs & then maybe have 1 or 2 basic/cutesy outfits for special occasions. I think we can all agree on the baby shoes😜 Look forward to watching your must-haves list! I’ve used a lot products featured in ur videos for inspo with both my first born & my 2nd on the way! 🌟
great list! I agree with them all except the nursing bra in part- just for ladies with more to hold-up. I developed mastitis the times I did try to wear my regular bras. Even when I'm not nursing I can never wear a bralet, it gives no support. So I looked for "regular" bras in bigger sizes causing them to be less constricting and bf friendly, paired with nursing tanks for nighttime.
Almost all of these are the opposite of what I did and will do with #2 😂 just shows you how different every family is. Lanolin is something I CAN NOT live without.
Changing tables can be so expensive. I literally saw my dad change my brother on a large shelf once and since I’ve realised you don’t need a special table 😄
My experience has been different with a few things. First of all my baby had eczema so we needed a proper baby lotion as well as steroid cream (was prescribed by the doctor) and we were recommended not to use coconut oil because it has properties that can cause irritation. Nursing bras - I needed them pretty bad as my boobs got so big that they wouldn’t fit into any of my normal bras, not even close. They basically doubled in size. At least. So definitely needed them. Nipple cream again I would recommend buying because I don’t think you’d want your newborn to lick off coconut oil from your nipples. Breastmilk does help to some extent but I needed the extra support of lanolin. What I did found helpful though was to wipe my nipple clean with a damp cloth after every feed before applying lanolin when I had it the worst. Everyone’s different and it’s hard to know upfront what will work. Sometimes you just need to try and see for yourself what makes your life easier.
I agree on mostly everything, except for tracking your baby's feeds, poops, and temperature. I logged all that in a notebook and at every peds. visit or urgent care visit I knew exactly when she last ate, pooped and her temp. This is all information they ask you at these visits.
I agree with most of this list as many of the items are simply marketing ploys. When I got pregnant I couldn't believe how much "stuff" is shoved in our faces. I'll have to give the cornstarch trick a try! Good tip, Delilah!
Love the honesty, some people just buy popular items for the hype and make videos about that - super helpful what you’re doing 💕💕 my partner and I are ttc so I’m looking for loads of stuff and I love your videos 😍🥰
I agree with most of these. Especially diaper creams! They made my baby’s diaper rashes so much worse. I switched to coconut oil and pampers baby dry diapers and she never got a diaper rash again. One thing my baby needs is the baby nail clippers. Her nails grow so fast. I clip them weekly.
The cornstarch thing is so true! I had my first in 2013 & I remember looking at my mom like she was crazy when she said that 😂 but it’s literally magic!
I got a baby warmer this time around only because I'm opting to make my own solution and use reusable baby wipe clothes. No more land fill diapers and wipes. All cloth this time. Also helps with diaper rash. 😁
Lansinoh Lanolin was amazing for my nipples in the beginning!! Don’t have to wipe it off before feeding either, really helped my cracked nipples and it also makes an awesome lip balm! That’s the only product I couldn’t have lived without! We also bought a nappy bin- waste!! I also spent a lot of money on soothers and my baby didn’t end up taking one anyway 😂
Using cornstarch is fine when you have decent skin, but if you already have a rash, especially a yeast rash, it’s not a good idea. Yeast will feed on it and make it worse.
I peeled off both my girls’ fingernails when they were newborns up to 1 month post partum. Afterwards, their nails grew stronger and I bought a baby safety scissors to cut their nails. I tried using regular clippers but accidentally cut their fingers! Never used clippers since then
Agree with most of this list but nursing bras are a must for me. I don't mind spending the money on a few good ones as they are getting used for a good solid year plus. I need the support. I also use our baby nail clippers every week. Worth the 4 dollars. I love the keekaroo pad as well. Was my best splurge. 2 kids and 3 years of constant use it still looks like new.
I tried your cornstarch poof trick a while back when you first mentioned it and I was just wondering what you store it in. Do you set it on anything or put it in anything in your diaper bag?
The only thing I would still buy is a small tub, if I didn’t have a big sink. My grand baby loves sitting in the water. Bathing them in a regular large bathtub wastes so much water, and if you don’t fill the large tub at least halfway, baby isn’t covered with water, and gets cold. My babies loved bring almost submerged in water.
P.S. for all of you loving the corn starch idea, I put mine in a little parmesan shaker and sprinkle it on my baby's bottom. Works great 😅
I am a guy who are not married and don't have kids.. But I love this channel. Regardless of the topic, I just love the general talks and the kids always makes me smile ❤️
How cute
This is so cute
Girl lol I'm a 32G without my milk in. Nursing bras are 100% necessary. I wish I could wear bralettes, they are so cute.
I love nursing bras when I’m out of the house, it makes it a ton easier
after 2 kids I'm now a 42F bra size and were looking at having a 3rd lol. a good nursing bra is so a must with big boobs. :) but yeah of you can get away with not having to buy them then you go for it!
I'm only a b-c cup, but bralettes don't work well for me. A comfy (and flattering) nursing bra is only around $15 at Target.
agree, im DD without milk, was an E with milk, i had to use a nursing bra, could not use normal bras.
Yes. That was the only thing I disagreed with. I'm a 38DD and it's a must for us bigger mommas. 😊
Coconut oil is too large of a molecule for our skin to absorb, therefore there is no moisturizing. Just sits on top of the skin.
That makes it a good barrier cream
Exactly
I believe this because i use it to moisturize my belly and abt 5 mins later its all gone
I recommend using jojoba oil instead!
Use lard
Delilah! We did it, I’m pregnant! 💜💜 you have been such an inspiration through this journey, you help me stay positive and keep my goals in mind. Thank you so much for your incredible content and positive attitude. So much love from Alberta 💚
Congratulations to you!!! 🤱
Congratulations! ❤️
Congratulations to you! Me too! 😍😍🎉🎉 Love from Edmonton
Congratulations! That's so exciting and wonderful :) Love from Ontario
i think using cornstarch and coconut oil is the best way to do it. Natural is the safest option
It’s interesting!! So many of these items I used SO MUCH for my babies/me. All babies and mamas are different and have different needs 💕
When you have large breasts a bralette does not work. Unforutionaly, I needed to invest in some nursing bra.
Jeannette Stewart same!!
I totally agree with your list other than the nursing bras. I tried wearing normal bras and I had such a hard time nursing with them. The brand Kindred Bravely makes really nice ones that aren’t super pricey.
Audrey Suzzane also, the Bravado bras are lovely too! I wore them in pregnancy and throughout this first year postpartum and still love them!
Once that was fixed, I still used the cream for tenderness, and it worked like a charm
It’s so interesting how everyone has such a different experience!
Yes! I had so much anxiety around feeding my daughter and had no reason to be concerned. I’m not even downloading one next time.
Here are 12 Alternative Product Suggestions (a mixture of Delilah and my own) for new moms:
1. Coconut oil, Corn Starch
2. Coconut oil , natural bath oil (we use Epimax bath oil - so no need for expensive lotions)
7. Changing pad on table/dresser
And I used breast milk on every surface of my children🤣
I'm new here, and LOVE that I found your channel! It's so refreshing to fill my mind with Christian advice and share in your mama journey! I love seeing how you handle life with your babes, lets me know I'm not alone with my four year-old and two-year-old daughter's 💗
❤️❤️❤️
Target has really good nursing bras for 12.99. Bralettes don’t work for the well endowed women lol
Wired bras does not allow your breast milk to flow and can cause ducts to block.
just opened up RUclips hoping for a good video to get ready to and you posted! Excellent timing ☺️
hi! can you do like a closet tour of Eloise? I thik that would be so much fun! xxx
And Theo! 😀
A delilah 's closet tour ...
Christina Eller i know its crazy how different we all do things and i also disagreed with almost everything except the wipeable changing pad
It's much less stressful to let baby and yourself be. If the baby is not peeing or not feeding, you'll notice anyway.
It was a pain to get out of the car, it was heavy and I never bothered putting the attachments on my pram to use it 🤦♀️
A rearward facing carseat is much more comfy for baby too
Steph Allen you should try a soft nail file. It is safer than clippers cause there is no stress of “I don’t want to clip the finger tip” with wiggly hands.
@@absynthefaerie thanks. I find it easy with baby safety scissors 😊
My toddler is 2 and we actually still use the changing table. It's a convenient height and makes for a great location to brush teeth, trim nails, fix her hair etc. without bending down/straining our backs.
I know everyone says not to buy baby shoes but I'm just helpless when I see them. They're so darn cute.
I have a 14 month old and we really like the Ubbi diaper pail, it definitely contains the smells!
I have 2 kiddos in clothe diapers and have 2 ubbi pails with washable liners. Change them every other day. They are amazing!
Vaseline it's not good for you... You should search about the ingredient petrolatum
viviana sousa yah that’s what I was thinking. It’s not as natural as you think
Definitely wouldn't recommend Vaseline, as well. Especially for the nipples where your child inevitably ingests a small amount.
Petroleum based products will actually make your skin dependant on the petroleum. Anything made with natural butters or oils is better.
coconut oil all the way :)
Burts Bee's has a great ointment that is natural compared to Vaseline
I swear I’ve only watched 3 of your videos so far and learned so much already! Ftm due in August and I’m so glad I found your channel!
Definitely just removed a couple things from my baby registry after watching this... Can't wait for your must-haves!
I'm glad we bought a changing table, because right after giving birth, it wasn't comfortable to change my baby in any position other than standing :'D (we didn't have a dresser at the time)
I wholeheartedly agree with the video though, you really don't need all those things that people try to sell you.
I pretty much agree with all your opinions. The market for baby things is so saturated and its annoying.
Totally agree with the wipes warmer. Once you take them out they get cold so fast anyway lol waste of money.
Pro tip: instead of a wipe warmer, just grab a bowl of warm water and dip your wipes into it right before you use them. I had a winter baby and this made all the difference
This is so useful, especially since we’re expecting our first and living in a very small space!
I don't use it unless that happens but when it does I'm so happy I have it
Now that you have had a third baby, can you do another baby essentials video 2022?? So helpful for expecting mamas.
Your videos just make my day better
Same! I always look forward to them.
Damn girl. Another must have for me👋 ha
Biggest one that confuses me with many parents is the whole showering together thing. We take baths with our little one & but the idea of trying to get anything actually clean between either of us while standing in a shower is so confusing to me & even a bit terrifying😮😆
I regret more than anything - buying too many clothes, just in general. Even if they were simple outfits. For the first year they literally live in footed pjs & then maybe have 1 or 2 basic/cutesy outfits for special occasions. I think we can all agree on the baby shoes😜
Look forward to watching your must-haves list! I’ve used a lot products featured in ur videos for inspo with both my first born & my 2nd on the way! 🌟
I can’t believe how
Many people don’t know about cornstarch! I’m pregnant with my first but I plan on trying that before anything else
I didn’t even think about how blackout curtains would make it hard for them to sleep elsewhere. Such a good point.
Taking what I needed and leaving what I don’t but very grateful for you sharing your point of view 💚 thank you mama
Thank you for this! I’m loving all of your videos. 36 weeks pregnant here and I’m ready for my baby boy to make his debut!
Woop never been this early for a video 😁 considering I’m expecting my first baby any day now this is a video I needed! ❤️
I’m 8 weeks and this is so helpful! Can’t wait for the opposite video of what you love!!
Absolutely loved using coconut oil when my son was a newborn! Hydrated his sensitive/flaky skin and he always smelled so good.
