also did you ever figure it out? I've been using gimp to make paint schemes since 2021 and I still don't got it down as well as he does i the video, and the video taught me a few things too
Now, with GIMP 2.10, there are more features. If you go to Filters-Render-Patterns, Fractals, etc (there are multiple options,) you'll come across some awesome designs, like plasma, which I've used on a car. Also, you're supposed to select Export As, not Save As. I've noticed that doesn't work anymore.
This may be kinda wierd replying to my own reply, but check logos by nick, look him up. He is awesome. He got me up to speed on gimp 2.10. You know what? In fact, here is a list of channels you might want to check out for that: Davies Media Design TJFREE (he's done a few vids on it, so check him out, in case you're interested in this stuff, as I am.
@RallyStudios You can only improt .tga files and .bmp files into winmip 2. When you have finished you painting in gimp, save a copy as a .bmp or tga file.
@TheWesweasel I really dont do requests because I've been pretty busy lately. Youn can most likely find whatever car you're looking for on NNRacing though.
When saving in gimp, you have to type .tga as an extension or else gimp will make it a wierd file name. Also, make sure you click import as tga, not bmp.
BTW, I'm FW2 from MasGrafx. Make sure you check out the logo section of the downloads. I worked pretty hard on them. I've been lettering (hand lettering with real paint and brushes) business since 1980. I've lettered well over 1000 race cars. From Demo Derby cars to Cup cars and everything in between. Some may be old, but they're accurate. Most all are layered for for easy color changes. Done many of the numbers there, and numbers sets where you can put your own number on your car easily.
You save the picture in gimp as tga, then open winmip2 and open your car file and click import. Find your tga you made and then click it. Save the car file, and race it.
@superdowg316Videos If you want to save your creation as a different file type, click save as. Be careful that you don't lose you saved psd with all the layers. I reccoment that you save your work periodically as a psd file, and only when you're done, should you save as tga.
@Hendrickfan54 You can do it that way, but Hi-Res seems to get all messed up. As far as I know, this is the highest quality way to import 1024x1024 tga images.
@superdowg316Videos Well, there aren't as many nr2002 cars these days, and being a former NR2002er, I figured I would help the community and make an NR2002 car.
@945NascarGuy I couldn't find it either, to I found a high res side photo of Jeff's 2010 car, and I cut out the dupont letters. You'd think after 9 years, somebody would have made it? lol Just be careful not to take logos and stuff off of other nr2003 cars; thats called ripping and it is very frowned upon.
Yes All You Have To Do Is When You Save The Car Save It As TGA And Then Put It In Your NR2003 Imports/exports Folder Than When You Make A New Driver In The Opponent Manager import The Scheme And Their You Go
You have to export it to .TGA. Copy that file to your 'Exports/Imports' folder inside the 'C:\Papyrus\NASCAR Racing 2003 Season' folder. Then you can use the Opponent Manager and/or the Player Info choices on the main screen to get the car into the sim.
I thought the "in game compression" would help with frame rate. My computers are kind of old. But I see a WinMip tutorial on here that shows how importing cars with WinMip can save file size and keep the image quality. I'll have to try that.
Whenever I try to import a gen 6 scheme in Winmip, it doesn't do anything. Randomly it'll work. And when it does and I save it in the folder, it doesn't show up ingame.
for .bmp you have to export as a .bmp and it should say Compatibility: (check box) do not encode color data check this then compression rate do the 24bit one for the best resolution
You need to slow down a bit on some parts if you want to call it a "How-to" such as matching and resizing some of the logos. Mine kept strectching the other layers logos
When I try and import something it always says 'An error occurred'? could you please tell me EXACTLY what you named ANY of your templates... Any driver, any car, just what you called it as a example... Thankyou in advance :)
Hey TNTMan93, I tried making a paint scheme for the MENCS19 Mod. The car model was the Chevrolet Camaro. When I tried painting the base of the car, a message appeared saying that I cannot paint layer groups which means that my ability and option to make paint schemes was disabled.
Well, its kinda hard to explain but you have to go on the bottom right sidebar and scroll down until you see "base" (or whatever it is for you) then click on the + icon and there will be a part in which you can paint the body of your vehicle
Have you seen my 2012 cars i made for NR2002. Im BlizzardDUCK on NNracing and i have made the 55 and 5 cars. Please give me feedback, id love some feedback. BTW, i love this car colors, you did a really good job lining up the lines. Clean work!!!
“oh boy maybe I can figure out how to use gimp”
*Step 8-Paint the Car*
welp
YO SEEING YOU HERE, I love your channel bro please keep it up
also did you ever figure it out? I've been using gimp to make paint schemes since 2021 and I still don't got it down as well as he does i the video, and the video taught me a few things too

@@CoasterMan13Official F yeah! logos by nick rocks! I learned GIMP by him too!

@MrSnowrocks I like your cars, they are very precise. Ten0r's render website makes them look really fancy too.
NASCAR 2003
If you import a tga, remember that it is just one layer and may cover everything else if its on the top. multiple layered files are psd.
@JuandavidXxXxX99 When you are using gimp, save periodically as a .psd file, when you finish, save as .tga, then import the tga file to the .car file.
When saving in gimp, you have to type .tga as an extension or else gimp will make it a wierd file name. Also, make sure you click import as tga, not bmp.
@superdowg316Videos To make circles, use the circle selection tool in the upper left window.
@RallyStudios If you open a file, it should be able to import all kinds. If your template is bmp, then thats what file format will be opened.
@NASCARDesigns I know, I feel bad. I remembered when I was putting it into WinMip2.
@MrSnowrocks What you have to do is click the blend tool and select the two colors you need.
Make sure you export the gimp image as tga, and set your winmip2 import to tga as well. Sometimes, their default is bmp.
NANASCAR 98
After seeing this tutorial, I'm actually going to paint a design on my cars I make now! Thanks!
@MrDaleJr2011 Find a cup physics download for it, and use the same method as installing the 2011 mod to the demo.

That sorta works, but only for 1024x1024. if you want to make the car in hires, you need winmip.
You save the picture in gimp as tga, then open winmip2 and open your car file and click import. Find your tga you made and then click it. Save the car file, and race it.
@hjkgkuh yes sir, same thing you just need a template for the pit crew.
@alden6644 Make sure winmip2 is set to nr2003, and not gpl or n4 etc.
@crazynascar48fan In gimp, scroll through the layers until you find the layer named mask. Click the eye icon and it will be removed.
@alden6644 When the paint job is finished, you have to save it as tga. Then open the tga in win mip 2. It will not open the psd.
@superdowg316Videos If you want to save your creation as a different file type, click save as. Be careful that you don't lose you saved psd with all the layers. I reccoment that you save your work periodically as a psd file, and only when you're done, should you save as tga.

@RobloxianTelevision1 DMR, SRD, or NNR.com.
@CJames2578 I have Win7 and it works. The most common problem is that the patch is not installed.
Personally I prefer to use Photoshop to paint cars, but this is a great tutorial man. Big thumbs up.
@XxTeam48LowesXx I've made a tutorial on that. CCM is the hardest program to get to work, with NR2003. You need to be very thankful if it works. :)
You probably need to select a different file type in the import window.
You have to save the car file when you are in winmip.
Would this work for NASCAR Racing 4?
@CJames2578 Already done. Hope CCM works for you. :)
How do I do the curves that you did on the front of the car at 6:20 in photoshop? Thanks.
Another thing that helps the line up process is carviewer
Each mod should be able to let you import tga as default. I cant ever get bmp to work.
There's an easier way... You can just export the template, paint the car, then import it (or is it import THEN export)?
@NASCARKing39 go to the icon that has a line conected with the arrows the click on the that and it should flip
@NascarRacingfan14 I forgot to post a link. I do that now.
if you save it (the tga) to the export-import folder, then open up nr2003 and import the tga file to the car
I thought the "in game compression" would help with frame rate. My computers are kind of old. But I see a WinMip tutorial on here that shows how importing cars with WinMip can save file size and keep the image quality. I'll have to try that.
Where did you find the Dupont logo on the side of the car? Ive searched FOREVER
yep
@hjkgkuh winmip2 is in a zip file and has to be extracted befor it can be used.
were do you get winmip2?
@ 6:26 how exactly did you make the color change from yellow to red? That is the one thing i havent yet figured out
try masgrafx...
What song is that at 0:00?
Can you use Photoshop to edit the car skins instead of GIMP?
+TheSourceOfTheNile Yes, but it's harder
+TheSourceOfTheNile Yes
@TNTMan93 i did, but the thing that you click on on Winmip2 to just open up tga files is not there
Every time I try to open WinMip2 I get an error saying the program cannot start because MSVBVM50.DLL is missing from my computer. Any help?
This was the video that inspired me to start doing mine!!
How do you get the arrows to change mods? I’m on the latest update and patch installed
when i saw the full template i saw what i thought was the racing seat. is that what that is
for some reason my files will not come up on winmip2. Help?
Same here...
I just went and look up a picture and it open after I copied it out of drive
There have been may times ive tried to import tga files and the car gets all messed up. It works good for coy cars but not really for most other mods.
What is that file at 1:39?
Whenever I try to import a gen 6 scheme in Winmip, it doesn't do anything. Randomly it'll work. And when it does and I save it in the folder, it doesn't show up ingame.
You can use Photoshop or Gimp.
I tried to import my car template into winmip2 but it was looking for a .bmp file, not a tga file, can you help ?
Hey, TNT do u know how to get 43 cars on the track in the demo?
Windows cant view a tga image. you just have to use winmip and import it.
Can u show me how to get the cup90s mod for both the full nr2003 game and the demo
for .bmp you have to export as a .bmp and it should say
Compatibility: (check box) do not encode color data check this
then compression rate do the 24bit one for the best resolution
when do we have to worry about pit crews and pit boxes
What program do you use to record your desktop?
CaffeinatedPixels deez nutz
CaffeinatedPixels Fraps
FRAPS doesn't record desktops.
CaffeinatedPixels Yes it does there is a option called Record dwm (Desktop) Check that box and you'll get a Fps Counter in the top
I didn't know about that. Thanks.
I can't find a plain original 2003 template to start with.. can I have a link to one or something?
You need to slow down a bit on some parts if you want to call it a "How-to" such as matching and resizing some of the logos. Mine kept strectching the other layers logos
same problem here did you find a solution?
yes it can. I do have 2003, but I havent seen templates for 2002
Can you make another showing the steps of applying the design and logos/numbers. Basically the part you sped through.
hey, very nice video! do you know where i can find a pit crew template ?
okay i got to where you import the textures to the car but then i cant find my tga file to import the textures
Hey can u post a how to get CCM thats if you want but it would sure help me out thanks!
where did u get winmip? i tried to search 4 it but nothing worked.
im using nr2003 gen 6 mod when I hit import texture on win mip 2 and choose my file nothing happens can you help
I have created my own car on the custom paint shop of nascar 2003 and i will try to make it with this program. thks for this vid :D
@TNTMan93 i extracted it, but i recieve the "stopped working" message. I use Windows Vista 32 bitservice pack 2.
When I try and import something it always says 'An error occurred'? could you please tell me EXACTLY what you named ANY of your templates... Any driver, any car, just what you called it as a example... Thankyou in advance :)
@hjkgkuh MasGrafx or NNRacing.
I can't paint the numbers in car, when I paint it it doesn't let me fill.
I'm trying to do this for the NWS11 mod and it will only let me import .bmp files. When I do that, nothing happens. Please help.
Hey TNTMan93, I tried making a paint scheme for the MENCS19 Mod. The car model was the Chevrolet Camaro. When I tried painting the base of the car, a message appeared saying that I cannot paint layer groups which means that my ability and option to make paint schemes was disabled.
Well, its kinda hard to explain but you have to go on the bottom right sidebar and scroll down until you see "base" (or whatever it is for you) then click on the + icon and there will be a part in which you can paint the body of your vehicle
can I use this to create the pit crews?
Can this work in the demo?
I can't get winmip working. plz help.
what scale should i make my decals when i put then on the car
Have you seen my 2012 cars i made for NR2002. Im BlizzardDUCK on NNracing and i have made the 55 and 5 cars. Please give me feedback, id love some feedback.
BTW, i love this car colors, you did a really good job lining up the lines. Clean work!!!
To upload em on nnracing, it has to be a cup car file?
i did that and when i get to win mip 2 and import the car scheme to it it just stays the same what do i do?
how come when i hit import car texture, it only searches for BMP files and not TGA's?
I downloaded the template but I didn't see it in GIMP in the file I saved it in.
@TNTMan93 i've downloaded WinMip2, but the exe file isn't working
Masgrafx is broken right now.Any alternatives?
i dont have the bmp and tga buttons on winmip, please help me!
Where is a good place to download NR2003 car templates?
where can you download winmip2
