Watching you knotting it one can't avoid to think: "well, that's easy!"
Great job, John, all the best. 👍

One of the best MW knot videos I've seen. I'm definitely saving it in my playlist of best tutorials. Thank you.

As always, you gave me a little nugget that makes all the difference when you passed it back and forth between hands as you tightened each strand. Thanks!

    Thankyou for posting.
When I do a MW knot I pass them anti clockwise then just pull the whole mess over itself then reverse tidy them up. I think the most I have done is a 5 strand.
Once saw two beautiful knot frames like the ones you do and I had no idea how they were made. Now I understand. Have started to do a small one with your frames in mind.Greetings from Victoria Australia.

So that’s how you cinch it all up! Man I’ve had some trials with that. Thanks for demonstrating the technique.

Did you just clip all the strands and tuck them under for the completed wood dowel in the end result?

Clipped in the pic but not tucked … just clipped tight

I bought my copy of Ashley's book of knots from thrift books, I bought it new for less than retail along with free shipping.

I must have dozed off when they taught the Matthew Walker knot when I went through US Navy recruit training.
Silly question. Does it have any practical application?

      It’s a stopper knot ….
The story behind it ( legend but plausible) is related in some detail by Clifford Ashley

The line for that MW came from Terry at Sexy Red’s Used Books out in New Mexico … he makes really nice cord
