      "Canadian Time". LOL
Linus is in B.C., same time zone as California (Pacific). I'm in Atlantic time zone, one hour on the other side of Eastern Time Zone. I learned of this at 7:00? am approximately 2:00 am Pacific. We're like China up here (except they have only one time zone country-wide), we're about 6 hours wide, compared to the USA 4 hours wide.

Phishing is most likely, the more employees a company has the more chance there is that one of them makes a mistake and falls for the trap. Humans make mistakes, get more humans together and the chances of a mistake happening rises. Has nothing to do with blaming is just raw statistics.

Oh yeah something else: you guys are looking for topic ideas, right? Well, Switzerland passed a law to protect kids and its a privacy nightmare. Not sure if you have covered it lately as I was away for a while. This might be interesting for what it could mean for Protonmail and Treema as they operate out of our country. Also, similar laws are being passed in some US states so comparing it might be an idea. Also regarding security: our railway recently got hacked. Most likely by Russians as a warning not send weapons to Ukraine. Switzerland is currently in a deep debate of dropping our neutrality for good. Since it would mean dropping political doctrine standing since 1815 it's huge. The sudden wave of new hacks by Russian groups therefore smell a bit political. We rely on railway like no other country beside Japan. This might be interesting to discuss the issue of security and green energy as many countries are rethinking their transport system and trains are on the menu again. Since you recently had a big train accident it might hit a nerf with the audience. Not sure if any of it is helpful. But it might be interesting as it touches issues that might be relevant to users elsewhere in the world.

At least one advantage of my sleeping problems: for once I get the hot story of the day while it is still brewing. I guess one needs to look at the bright side. Can't wait to brake the hot news at the breakfast table. Linus will certainly use the hack as content. So this will get interesting when he and Luke will dissect the issue.

@Lurch This LTT Breach shows that major RUclips creators need a backup platform like Twitch, Odysee, Dailymotion and Peertube to lessen the damage.

Seeing as LTT is joking about their channel being compromised, it just confirms my suspicions about Linus' slack approach around the channel and microblogging privileges.

As for dumping down on Linux: let's admit it: it is satisfying to hit back at the Linux bros. We all tried our Linux Mint with the best intentions of getting away from Microsoft and ended up inserting code within 10minus after installing, because that trashcan can't delete files. So you dare to mention that it might not be very beginner friendly for a distro aimed at beginners. Next thing happening is Linux bro with a red face yelling in your face on how you are unworthy of using Linux and females should stick to cooking anyway. So you never touch it again because your to afraid of the toxic community behind it. But there is one way of satisfying your need for revenge: teasing them with the good old Linux isn't secure line. It's beautiful. Just place the bomb. Smile and run as fast as you can. Yeah I admit it: I am a simple girl. I enjoy some good old revenge if I can find a cute little opening in the enemy's line. One needs to collect the victories where you can get them.

@@lurch1539 Well nobody will take away the advanced distros just because there is a simpler one too. I mean a real pro wouldn't touch something like Linux Mint with a stick and that's ok. But a beginner needs a good starting point. I recently built a system for a teenager who wanted to get in to Blender. So I put him a Linux Mint and installed all he needed. But he ended up frustrated fast and put a pirated Windows because his wannabe PC-nerd-friend recommended it. Naturally they didn't even look for malware. Given all the the poverty in the world I see a huge potential for Linux as it is mostly free. I think it is wrong to waist the potential just to please the elitists who prefer to remain in closed circles. As for woman and minorities: they value privacy and security and that's where Linux shines. It pains me to see that potential wasted. That's a large potential userbase that get's locked out from the start just to please the ego of some random dudes. Imagine how much the community could grow if kids and beginners could start with Linux without ever touching Windows.

    • @arsantiqua2483

@@jonaharagon Thanks :-) ! Well I keep it at a teasing level. After all I still support Linux as an idea even if I am sometimes disagree with some people. Keeping the penguins running might not be unhealthy in the long run. I would love to see a true beginners Linux that is so fail proof that you can just install it on the laptop of a 8 year old. Imagine kids would grow up with Linux rather then with Windows. I bet the Tech world would look very different. After all, Linux is free and that might make it very tempting for a parent on a tight budget.
