Hey guys! The much-requested JB Grocery Shopping Vlog is finally up! Just wanted to point out a few things in the vlog: 💹 Exchange rate used is SGD1 = RM3.3 (missing the RM3.5 days…) ⚠️ JB’s Aeon and SG’s FairPrice are used because they are pretty similar in terms of brand rep & quality. ‼️ Of course you may find cheaper alternatives at various stores and when products are on sale, but for ease of price comparison, I’m using largely everyday non-promo prices from the two supermarkets. 💁🏻♀️ If you have better lobangs to share, please don’t gatekeep and leave your tips in comments below!
It's helpful that you also put the dish that you all cooked with the ingredients purchased! It gives us inspiration for what we can cook at home with those ingredients too 😊 And nope... pads aren't TMI at all, in fact, would have liked to see a comparison with Venus rather than Fairprice for that (as well as their soap refills) since Venus generally has more competitive pricing for such items than Fairprice does. But all in all, really, appreciate the effort put into all this and thanks for sharing! 🥰
Thank you!! Thanks to my MIL, we get to enjoy the fresh produce in yummy dishes heh. Oh the price of the pads were specifically compared to Venus pricing bc I buy there too haha! But yeah you’re right, the soap refills could be cheaper there too!
I used to stock up Milo powder from Malaysia 2kg packs many years ago as it’s so much cheaper. However I realised Malaysian made Milo is really sweet compared to the ones made in Singapore. Then my neighbour told me not to drink their Milo as she has a friend who works in Nestle Malaysia factory and they actually add something dubious to the milo powder. That explains why your throat feels scratchy and sandy after drinking it. The worker said most Malaysian Chinese know about it and won’t touch Milo, it’s mostly drunk by the Malays there. 😅 Anyway I switched back to SG made milo and I find the quality much better.
Omg whattt. I never knew that! Also, I found it incredulous that there is no Milo Kosong sold in JB supermarkets. In fact many of the instant beverages do not come in kosong ver.. bless their health 🥲
Most of my Malay friends don't drink Milo because of boycotting. They switched to Vico or local brand like Oligo choco, Malco. Even my friend who work in Nestle marketing also said that their sales dropped in past 2 years. Maybe because she said that their biggest consumer mostly are Malay.
Super Vlog! ❤ Love the grocery shopping at AEON, one of my favourite grocery stores in Malaysia. Also, love Cold Storage for the imported products. Looking forward to more shopping vlogs in Malaysia ❤
I discovered this Aeon Mall Permas Jaya in March this year as I stayed in a hotel in Permas for a week while my SG house toilets were being renovated. It is not crowded at all and few Singaporeans. Great for dry groceries but the fresh produce there are not fresh!! 😅 Permas Jaya has quite good eateries but it is a bit laid back and nothing much happening there. Giant in Perling Mall is also good if you want to avoid crowds like Lotus at KSL which sucks.
FR?? We found their fresh produce quite fresh! Much better than Lotus. And yes PJ has a good selection of eateries and kopitiams, at local friendly prices. I found Giant to be the most overpriced supermarket in JB so we’re never going back haha
It's the first Jusco in JB and used to be crowded, but getting lesser ppls becos other mall offer more variety of shop. But its a good choice if you're going there for groceries.
Like that we get to hear your actual voice now haha! But wah, Malaysians are gonna hate us even more now when we crowd their supermarkets and chope their groceries lol 😅
Warming up to voice commentary haha! Actually I see Singaporeans & Malaysians as collaborative. They come and work in SG, we go and shop in MY, both are contributing to the economy in diff ways, win-win hahaha
Lebih 50% mahal, no wonder lah orang Singapore selalu beli kat Malaysia. Kalau aku jadi orang Singapore, aku pun sanggup beli kat Malaysia. Dahlaa dekat
for prawns, i always have a slight pinch on the head. if it's firm and hard then good, if its soft n mushy then skip. homesoy is sold in sg ah, just that it's alot more ex compare to malaysia so yea i drink homesoy when i am in malaysia. in sg if buy i buy yeos
Actually, that's the typical, very authentic char siew type in Sarawak. It's always like cardboard thin, no fat, just lean meat. The classic type for kolo mee in Sarawak.
yes you should not share. And do take note and you should inform everyone, the Singapore customs don't check everyone but mostly will and when they do, they will ask you to throw away all the raw meats and seafood.
I used to like bukit indah area bcs there are barely any singaporeans when i started going there from 2017, but from mid 2023 onwards i noticed that there are more and more singaporeans. So i discovered a new place where there wasnt any singaporeans in sight, however noticed just a handful of singaporeans lately, probably because of a recent article which promoted 2 food stalls from there. Please dun crowd my new place, the food items are also much cheaper there
Chances are , the shops themselves will start hiring influences and managing their own publicity . Shops can be gate kept for a while , after that they themselves will want to start making money non linearly
People keep saying things across the border are cheaper. That is because of our strong currency. If you work there with their salary you will not say things there are cheap. About the Milo I once bought a packet and indeed the taste was weird.
Hi, have been following your vlog Thank you for posting the JB adventures, may I please check which is the peking restaurant, there are 4 branches in JB and looking for the same one in your vlog, thanks so much 😊
Thanks for sharing. Sorry for being nosy but I am a bit concern that you are attracting unnecessary attention on the import GST as you "documented" what you bought on a day trip including medication which can easily exceed the relief amount. Just be careful lah 😅

Shut up, you're just making up a story, anything made in Malaysia is superior to Singapore in terms of quality, taste, price and everything.
my comfort youtuber to watch! always looking forward to your videos 😁

Simply love your vlog and sharing. Addictive channel !! Thank you 🙏 ❤❤

So intrigued to try kopi-o now! May I know which brand is your fave so that I can check if I can get here in the PH? ❤

The home soy in sg is produced in Thailand! Has diff taste from the one produced & sold in my.
Im just afraid that the food bought in Malaysia dosent have the same strict safety checks unlike in SG, even though they might be cheaper.
So far so good!
Singapore has specific limits on the quantity of cooking oil you can bring in. It’s essential to check the latest regulations before your trip.
