"The Best We Both Can Be"
Written by Maribeth Solomon
Performed by Molly Johnson
I claim no copyright to either the movie or the songs, and this was uploaded at no gain towards myself in anyway.
Every boy who grows up believing his marriage might end in failure and that he is going to spend his life as a deadbeat dad should think and be like Babar: always stay strong, never give up or look for an easy way out, and always treat your honey like the one and only princess you have.
😭👏 yes
Best song in this entire movie! The way Molly Johnson's voice gradually adjusts from melancholy and anguished to proud and hopeful, that 80s keyboard sound... Words don't do it justice. I miss my childhood 😭😭😭
I used to watch this movie ALL the time as a kid and at 19 I still watch it from time to time. Such memories :)
What's it like being 30?
If you watched this as a kid, you deserve a veteran promotion.
I'm nowhere near old enough to be called a veteran
I watched the show but never got to see this
@@damarbell6733 not gonna lie, but my family loved this movie so much that they recorded it on VHS
I did!

This song has been with me for almost 30 years. I've loved it since the first time I heard it.
I’ve been singing this song everyday for the past week and I 😢… my sweet sweet childhood
I know how you feel I wish I can go back just for a little while💔❤️
Am I the only one who always cries when they hear this song? I mean I know it's not sad, but it's so beautiful I want to cry.
crimefighterg33k I guess the key of b flat major has that affect on the human ear
Haven't heard this song in years but it still brings a smile to the face and soul. I reminder of a much simpler time thanks for posting this song.
Raeye1 The same here. I haven’t heard this song in ages
and it still brings up many emotions that I have not
felt in such a long time.
29 years ago, I watched Babar the series on HBO every morning before I went to school and learn from every single episode.
This song stuck with me for pretty much 15 years after watching the movie for the first time as a child. Something special about it.
I miss this part of my life....
I always cry when i listen to this song... so touching.
"You didn't let me down, Babar. You came, didn't you?"
This song brings back memories when I was a kid!:)
I can't believe that Babar and Celeste are cousins in original stories but in TV-series and movie, they are not related at all, just a good friends, which this idea for the series is good for family audience.
this song will never cease to touch my heart. just like it did so many years ago.
I love this type of melody. There was a certain melody used especially in the 80s-90s (in the Jetsons movie and Chipmunk movie for example; I guess it's a synthesized electric piano type of music) and it was my favorite into my adulthood.
Hey, I looked up Molly Johnson on Wikipedia and the article said that she and her brother starred in Porgy and Bess at the Royal Alexandra Theater in Toronto when they were just in elementary school.
If you're talking about the Chipmunk Adventure, yeah this movie totally reminds me of it.
Oh, yeah, the Chipmunk Adventure. That was a long time ago, now.
It's Yamaha DX7 Electric Pianos, look it up
I like to write melodies in b flat major.
@Nick The RUclips User Yes.
Love this song I don’t know why I can’t find it on Spotify? I always enjoyed listening to it back when I was a kid when I was watching this film it warmed my heart
Because for some reason, none of this movie's music was released outside the movie.
OMG YES!!!!! I've been looking for this video clip for so long!!!!! Could only ever find crappy recordings. I fell in love with music because of this song.
The first time I watched this movie was between either 2008 and 2010 and I can’t believe I found it now!!! Idk why but I had this song stuck in my head for the past month and I found it finally!! Wow!!! Thanks for uploading this great version of it!
babar is such a gnetleman :)
gravyhouse24 the way he carries Celeste on his back, helps her climb obstacles, and offers his hat?
@@alec4010 Yep, he got her heart on lock!
I saw this movie as very younger kid and this song accompanied me during my childhood,i just remembered it right now
Lyrics:
no one was coming to my aid
and i still was so afraid
of the loneliness inside that id run away and hide
tell you the truth for me it would have been the end
lucky for me i had a friend
what i was lookin for was you so help me true
how could i know what it could do
through the rain storm (through the rain)
cross the mountain (cross the plain)
walkin' with you i feel so strong
cause you helped me carry on
with you guidin' (you to guide)
i no learning' (i can't hide)
we are much more than you and me
we are the best we both can be
we are the best we both can be
this certainly brings back memories, watching this movie a few times when I was young before moving to a new city, memorizing most of it's script and randomly play it in my head.
This song is a true miracle.Especially the music. In every language it sounds beautiful.
Probably the best song of all time.
I love this song
I remember when I was little, I was crying every time I was hearing this song.
I love this song so much!!:'-3
Me tooooo
Aww.. This is the first time I listen to this song in English, and I love it! :)
Just reminds me of keeping my friends
LOVE THIS SONG! Always sang it when I was a kid. Have tried to find it in Swedish for years. Finally I've heard it in English at least!
so wonderful! i love the ascending melody on the strings at the end, so beautiful! :) The first film I ever went to see in the cinema, and this song has remained one of my favourites for 25 years! :)
Jonathan Dunn I happened to be a songwriter and I like writing in b flat major
Actually, I think that rising melody sounded more like it was played on a flute. Still very beautiful, though!
That whole montage always did make me feel a little :3
They should have marketed this as the lead single for this film. It would have probably cracked the Top 5 in Canada and most likely would have been a top 10 hit in the UK. Maybe charted highly in France and other territories, too.
It probably would've done well in the US as well
Very nice song...... I love.....
When I was 6 I had a pet moth that I found outside..I gave it leaves and bonded in some weird way. One day I found it on the ground dead. It had laid its eggs and was going on with the natural cycle of life, but I felt like I had really lost a friend. I watched this, and this song cut me to the bone. I was devastated.
thank you so much for uploading this... I have been looking for this in danish for years, finally I found it english, this is true lovely. It used to be my favorite song...

Dear MrPappzy,
I've been unable to get a digital mp3 copy of this song online. Would I be able to get the mp3 copy of you? Its for my children who love this song!
😍😍😍👌
perfect
❤
@kittycatpewpew same here, love it!
Back in the old days when girls were sane
Maybe it's you
And years later Molly Johnson becomes Sleek the leopard
0:53 Those antelope are topi.
This song sounds similar to My Mother from The Chipmunk Adventure.
Probably the era
I guess it's the keyboard sound?🙂
..
this song would work good in kareoke don't you think
But luckily in my language it is a duet sang by a man and a woman
I hate any kind of cheese other than Colby cheddar and nacho. My point TOO MUCH CHEESE
I haven't seen this movie in so long
I love this song
